Fresh Seafood, salmon sticks are fantastic! Chucks offers a wonderful variety of grocery products not available in the local markets in this area… hot sauces, spices, marinara… The canned tuna, salmon are so good! Once you try them you’ll never be able to eat regular canned tuna again! I decided to buy canned tuna from the grocery store, one taste, threw the rest away… drove to Chucks!

Stopped in at Chucks Seafood and ended up buying fresh shrimp and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were the freshest and plumpest I have ever eaten and the cocktail sauce was just right. It was a delightful experience to eat this very fresh shrimp. We also bought a salmon filet but have not eaten it yet. I will review it later, if I remember.

We specifically came to town to get some steamers and Chucks was the place we wanted to get them from. This must be the go to fresh seafood place in town(I don’t know where else one might get fresh seafood in town) as the place was pretty packed. The display case was filled with salmon, shrimp, scallops, oysters and other friendly things from the sea that I would absolutely have devoured if given the chance, but we were just here for the steamers. We prepared them back at our house and they were mighty tasty.

Chuck’s sits calmly on a corner after you cross over the bridge at quaint little Charleston. Surrounded by fishing boats and oyster trailings, this little seafood market was closing just as we walked in. Oysters here were much cheaper than some other stops we had made that day, but, unlucky for us, we still had many miles/days to travel and a motel stop for the night. And, besides, a spoiling oyster is not a good traveling companion. So, other than appreciating the freshness of it all, we could do nothing. So I settled for a shrimp cocktail to go, $ 3.95. I had no idea until he smiled and handed it to me that I was getting enough shrimp cocktail to feed a family of four. That is putting it mildly. It had to be well over a half pound of baby shrimp, and the cocktail sauce, well let’s say it was finger licken good. Chucks apparently specializes in smoked fish as well, but we had a trunkful of carefully packaged smoked fish from Washington, so I can only imagine. Regardless, this is a great stop for a tourist or camper, to enjoy the«fruits» of this region.

Chucks indeed has a large selection of fresh seafood to choose from… if you can stomach the smell in the place. I personally can hardly go in there, but I’m not much of a seafood fan so that likely explains it. Since I can my own tuna, I have purchased from Chuck’s on occasion and it does make it simple and easy. Not cheap by any means… there’s NOTHING cheap at Chuck’s! On an occasion I needed to do some business with the owner, I was starkly disappointed in the attitude, and rather surprised at the lack of congeniality. Wondering if that prevails in the workplace too, or if that is just how others are dealt with when they try to do business relating to something other than fish. Since my run-in with a sour person in either management or ownership, I really don’t solicit this place, nor do I recommend it very often. It definitely has it’s place in our market, although if a person checks around, there’s generally fresh seafood available in a few locations — including docked boats(in season). I prefer to buy fresh off the boats.

We go to Chucks Seafood every time we visit Charleston, I love their Salmon sticks. They have the best canned tuna and other canned seafood. The prices aren’t bad either.

This place is a cute little tourist gift shop and fish deli. In the mood for fresh Albacore Tuna? How about some fresh Chinook Salmon? I’m talkin about… right out of the ocean, into the boat, off the boat, then into Chuck’s shop. Fresh or canned, Smoked or seasoned… Chuck has it. Very clean and neat. Service is friendly. And… don’t worry about the canned tuna. it’s not like the kitty cat tuna you eat from a starkist tuna can… This tuna tastes like chicken. No fishy taste ATALL! BTW: Check out Charleston in September. That’s when all the Albacore Tuna comes in and you can get a fresh fish for $ 2.00 a lb.
