Not impressed… my family and I don’t do the buffet thing so we ordered off the menu. It was a Saturday night and the place was empty but it took about 45 minutes to get our food– which wasn’t very good. They forgot the bacon on my husband’s hamburger. My chicken sandwich was over cooked and the bun was saturated with margarine(gross). The kids chicken nuggets were actually good. We also tried pizza from the bar menu… yuck! It wasn’t ultra-thin, and the sauce was spaghetti sauce with large canned tasting onions. I suggest, if you are staying at the hotel, to ask others about the buffet-if that is your thing. There are so many good options in the nearby area, you may be better off venturing out for a good meal!

Surprisingly, I’ve always heard that Trotters does a good seafood buffet, so I’ve been intrigued for a while. While using Town & Country’s meeting rooms, we decided to check out the lunch buffet. The salad bar wasn’t half bad. All the salad accouterments you would expect, fruit, and pasta/tuna/etc. salads. The actual entrée options on the buffet were less than delightful unless you like fried foods galore. Think: fried chicken, fried okra, baked pasta, beef stew, tomato soup, ribs, peach cobbler, and a bland looking veggie mix with some sort of lettuce combined with it. While the food wasn’t bad(because it was mostly all fried), it just wasn’t great and there were no healthier or lighter options. The Town & Country facilities were very nice and spotless. The bathrooms, the common rooms, and staff were great. The staff is constantly cleaning and it shows! Edit: We’re back again using the meeting rooms. While I didn’t eat at the restaurant today, the options looked a little better: baked chicken, shrimp creole, lima beans, meatloaf, banana praline cake, and minestrone soup.

I received an invite for a birthday brunch gathering at Trotters Restaurant. Truth be told, I wasn’t too thrilled after seeing it only rated 3 stars. After eating there, I’m willing to bet if reviews for breakfast were separate from the other reviews, it’d be a solid 4 star rating! Since we had a rather large group, we had a room separate from the main breakfast buffet area. There were so many options on the buffet! There was a long table along the wall with numerous options such as corned beef hash, biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs, pecan crusted french toast, breakfast potatoes, grits and more. There was also an omelet station. I didn’t get an omelet but my mom did and the few bites of hers I had were VERY tasty. There was a spread of fresh fruit along with cups of Greek yogurt topped with some berries. There was granola and honey available to add in too. Everything was pretty good to really good and our whole group was happy with this hearty breakfast option. The service was a bit spotty at first… no one was around so I got up and got some coffee to serve myself and others at my table but after that initial hiccup, they were attentive and on point. If you’re coming here for their breakfast buffet, have no fear, you’ll leave stuffed and pleased!

Great breakfast buffet! Our server, Nancy, was an absolute delight! Very large well-tended buffet featuring scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, grits, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc. Nancy keeps the coffee coming served with her adorable Southern charm. She is a great ambassador for the city of Charleston as she was very helpful recommending things to see and do during our visit. Very good food and fun, personable service, all served in a large sunlight-filled dining room. What’s not to love?

Had dinner once here and was not overly impressed, but have had two sequential breakfasts on a weekend stay. The $ 15 food vouchers help but the breakfast buffet is well worth it. A huge selection of typical breakfast foods… pancakes, eggs, bacon(thick sliced and cooked just right), sausages, an omelet island and loads of fruit. Waitstaff was very accommodating and the hot coffee poured endlessly. Got to give em a 4⁄5 star rating this time. Gloria our waitress was great. Your Previous Reviews: 2.0 star rating 12/20/2014 Great hotel, but skip the restaurant… I used my $ 15 hotel voucher to get essentially an overpriced appetizer. My bill came to just over $ 17 for a «crab cake burger»… the crab cake was mostly filler… come on, in Charleston(seafood city). The side of potato salad was bland. Was good fill up for calories. But as I sat there folks were coming in for the seafood buffet… at $ 35/person… OUCH! A bit overprices and inflated and if the buffet was any representation of the menu items, I would never pay that much per person. The value is not there there. SaleebScore: Staff/Waiters: 8⁄10; Food: 5⁄10; Value 3⁄10. Atmosphere: 7⁄10; convenience to hotel: 9⁄10(maybe a better use of voucher on the Breakfast menu/buffet).

I treat myself once a month to a Sunday dinner at Trotters. I start off with a plate of endless mussels if I want, my pick of chicken wings if I can get there before the new batch hasnt been taken and the a taste slice of beef with a jus. Topped off with the chocolate muse desert is the one I like. The salad bar is there for folks that want it along with the fresh cooked veggies and mac and cheese some kind of rice and soups. All for $ 18 and its worth every penny to me. I’ll never so the holiday thing pricey $$$ and really dont care for the lunch because I never remember the days when they put out the best fried chicken I have tasted. I call it the kill me chicken because the crust is out of this world. Yes there are some things there I dont like and like always my wife does. I hear the friday night surf and turf is awesome but my its a little pricey for me at $$$ 35.I dont like there collard greens because they dont cut the stems out. I do harass the Chef for cutting the beef in a way that I would not do it.

We ate the breakfast buffet at Trotters twice. Both times the food was very good, they keep the line full, and fresh. The bacon is thick cut and crispy, and the sausage is cooked perfect The service was great and the price good.

We are regular customers of Trotters, go there for lunch and the occasional Sunday Brunch, which we enjoy. We decided to go today for Easter Brunch and were very disappointed. We had a reservation for 1:30 and did not get seated until almost 2. The Easter Brunch costs almost twice the regular Sunday Brunch and didn’t even have as much to choose from. No mussels, omlet station or homemade soup that we are used to. On top of that, No Mimosas! Would certainly not go back for a Holiday again.

Well I would recommend not wasting your time or money. The food was horrible, very over priced. I could have went to a great restaurant(Poogans Porch) and it would have been less expensive. The hotel is fine, but don’t waste your money at the restaurant. Not even with the voucher.

I see only one person has rated Trotters, and wasn’t surprised they went right to the pricing. Yes, this is not Shoney’s. It’s a comfortable yet find dining experience. It’s a buffet with great service, however the food is all high-end restaurant quality. Depending on the day, they offer carved meats, and lots of fresh seafood. Their salad bar is super fresh, and their dressings are dynamite! We’ve never had a bad experience here, and although it’s priced at a point which makes it a special occasion location, it’s truly a special place. My Grandmother loves going here more than any place in Charleston. I can’t recall off the top of my head what the exact pricing was on our last visit, however believe their Friday and Saturday night buffets may be their most expensive nights. These are also the nights when even more high end items are available. Carved Prime rib for example. Our first visit was a Sunday brunch. It’s very reasonably priced for a buffet with service. I believe it was less than $ 15 per person. We’d recommend it for any special occasion. Oh, I almost forgot… They even have a buffet dessert table. There literally is something for everyone!

Way over priced … We were there for sea food Friday night. Would not go back… Even if it was free.
