We went there on a Saturday night, about 8:00. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, which was okay, since after all it was a Sat night. We sat down and it took 15 minutes to get menus. Then another 10 minutes for the drink order, thankfully the bread arrived at this time. The drinks were delivered one by one, with simple, hot tea taking the longest… Then we ordered, easy right– 4 salads and entrees. It took another 30 minutes for the salads to arrive. 3 Caesars and a Brussel sprout over carrot purée. Not too bad, but nothing special. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our dinners, a mushroom risotto(decent), steak and fries(decent), cod with curry coconut sauce(good), salmon over rice with a seaweed salad. The rice under the salmon was lukewarm in spots and cold in others. We sent it back, it was brought back by the owner who told us that the seaweed salad was cold and that was probably what«made» the rice cold. No, the rice was cold under the fish, it wasn’t touching the salad. The owner«argued» with us about the rice. So the second time he brought it up, it was still cold. We didn’t bother to send it back again, because we didn’t feel like arguing with the owner. Meanwhile, our wine glasses were empty and my friend’s coke hadn’t been refilled in the hour we had been sitting there waiting for food. I wasn’t about to ask for more tea either, as boiling water seemed to take longer than pouring wine. The restaurant was noisy and the ambiance wasn’t great. I will never go back there again, there are so many choices nearby, I will choose differently next time. Save your money and find a restaurant near the north end.

My parents love this spot, but it’s not my cup of tea. They love meatloaf there, but the menu reads a little last decade to me. I like their wine selection. I usually end up getting the fish or chicken and it’s always fine, just never something I’d rave about. I wish they had some menu selections I could get excited about. They usually have some good special wines which is nice. The staff is nice and it’s not expensive. Also there’s usually easy on street metered parking which is nice. The ambience is nice – cozy. I’ve been there when the fire alarm was going off for like 30 mins and that wasn’t great, but we were able to sit outside with our wine and wait it all. I’d suggest keeping your order simple here and sticking to classics.

Meh. We used to really like Navy Yard Bistro. The food was always solid, good service and reasonable prices. I don’t know what happened but we made reservation for Christmas Eve dinner, prix fixe, menu was appealing but it was a failure in ever single aspect. 1. We were seated at a table after a wait despite reservation and an empty table waiting. 2. The server took forever to come by with water and ask for drink order. 3. Other table patrons had blank looks on their faces as they waited for checks… 4. We ordered our courses… Yet None of them came at the same time, were either the incorrect selection, not properly cooked or not temp. The flavors were not what you may hope. Bland and flat. 5. Our server… poor guy was running like a maniac, dripping with sweat– to the point it was soaked through and making his black shirt shine. Gross. We haven’t been back and can’t think of a reason to give it a try again anytime soon…

I really am a fan of this neighborhood restaurant. In the winter months it’s warm and cozy and in the summer they have outside seating with a breeze from the water. Many of my neighbors give this restaurant mixed reviews but every time I go I have a great experience. Nice wine list. Great specials. And some staples on the menu that are excellent– salmon, chicken and steak frites. Also, the owner is here a lot and he adds a friendly customer centric vibe. So next time you’re in Boston, take the ferry from Long Wharf for a few dollars and walk 3 minutes to this neighborhood gem.

We’ve been here twice. The first time, it was a cold, rainy, windy night and I was looking forward to the soup to warm me up. We were seated right by the door, and every time someone came in, there was a huge draft. When the soup arrived, it was in a cold bowl. When you put hot soup in a cold bowl, the soup goes from hot to lukewarm. Normally, I would have dealt with it, but given the drafty dining room and the cold night, I asked if they would please heat it up. It came back 10 minutes later at about 4000 degrees. It was so hot that even stirring it continuously, it was still too hot to eat when my entrée arrived. I felt like it was a big F. U. from the chef. The second time we ate there, probably a year and a half later, was even worse. I ordered a fish entrée and the center was completely raw. It was disgusting. We could hardly get the server’s attention because she kept spending a ton of time yakking it up with this loud table of six who wasn’t even ready to order yet. We hadn’t seen the original guy who had taken our order for at least a half hour and she was the only one on the floor. There were only us, the table of 6, and one other table of 2 in the dining room. I can’t tell you the number of times she walked into the room with her head down, not scanning the room to see if anyone needed anything. We tried to flag her down at least 4 times. Finally, my husband went over to find someone so we could at least get our check and get out of there so we could go eat somewhere else. He ran into our original waiter, who had his coat on. The waiter had been outside dealing with some holiday decorations or some shizz and thought someone else had picked up our table and felt bad that we had been forgotten. Unbelievable. I really don’t understand all the great reviews at all. Maybe the people who’ve had bad experiences there just want to move on and forget this place. I sure do.

i didn’t know what to expect but it was great and i look forward to returning. i’m not a «foodie» and i’m always wary of a new place as i think«how are they going to screw up the food i enjoy», but i was pleasantly surprised! i started with the gnocchi which was good appettizer portion, exactly what i wanted. my only surprise was that it was more like a stew than a pasta dish(i blame my lack of dining acumen in reading the menu), however it was quite good. i followed it with the chicken dish which was great. the mashed potatoes were quite good. so many places mess up a simple thing like mashed potatoes. their mashed potatoes were so delicious! not red skin, not overly seasoned, just really, really good. what can i say, i love me some good mashed potatoes! like i said, i can’t wait to return! staff was super friendly too!

Great atmosphere in a part of town that needs more restaurants. The first few times I went I was very impressed. Their standard menu was solid, tasty and consistent. And the specials were exciting and fresh. The last couple of times I went I was disappointed. The menu still has it, but the quality and taste were lacking. I will continue to go from time to time to see if they get their mojo back as I really want them to be all they can. But for now I can not recommend them as a solid and quality place to eat.

Went here for a quick dinner and omg I’m so glad I did! The restaurant has a nice ambiance, friendly staff and amazingly delicious food. I had the mussels appetizer and braised beef short rib entrée, which was on the specials menu. Both were delicious. The braised beef short rib was amazing! I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Truffle fries, smoked chicken taco’s, duck wings & pork & bison meatballs. All apps tonight, all awesome! This is seriously maybe my favorite spot in the greater Boston area. It’s a hidden gem. Right on the water. Great wine & beer selection as well!

Long overdue review, but three of us had dinner here in April after a long and exhausting day of house hunting. The restaurant was hopping on a Saturday night and we were quoted a 30 minute wait. We grabbed a glass of wine at the small bar and were seated in about 30′. I had the beet salad and steak frites – both were perfectly prepared and delicious. Our server was excellent and we really enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant. It was so unexpected for the location. Now that we’ve moved to the area we will definitely keep this restaurant on our short list.

Was working in Boston and found this place courtesy of Unilocal. If you don’t eat here you are not living! The menu is amazing and ever changing. Mike in the kitchen takes expert care of ensuring that your meal is prepared like a fine piece of artwork. Doug the bartender was whitty, friendly and attended to our every need. One of the most memorable dining experiences in recent memory. We will be back!

I can’t say enough good things about the Navy Yard Bistro. My teammates and I just hosted a fundraising event for our marathon fundraising efforts here and they were amazing. They opened up their space allowing us to set up and use the space however we saw fit for out event. The bartenders were extremely nice and helpful. The passed appetizers were of an amazing quality. I have not had a meal here yet, but I already know the quality will be top notch. It’s a really cute space and has an extremely warm feeling! Highly recommended!

For a weekend trip escaping New York City, my significant other and I popped into Navy Yard Bistro for a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner. Even with severe winter storm warnings, we decided to trek out to make our reservation at Navy Yard Bistro. It was a little difficult to find(but I’ll attribute that to us not being from Massachusetts/Boston). We made it a couple minutes past our reservation, but we were greeted by a very friendly hostess and(presumably) the manager. At the mention of our reservation, the manager(again, presumably) recognized by significant other’s name and greeted him by first AND last name. We thought it was such a nice and personable touch that he actually knew who we were. We were pleasantly surprised. The place has a great ambiance. Very romantic and intimate. Plus, the food was great and it was not pretentious at all. The service was perfect. The dinner menu was specially crafted for the occasion — $ 55 per person for a four course meal. First Course: — Winter Mixed Greens(crispy parsnip, candied pecans, crumbled goat cheese, passion fruit vinaigrette) was absolutely delicious. It was a little sweet, salty, and very refreshing. All the ingredients melded perfectly together. — Wild Mushroom Soup(with shaved Parmesan cheese & black truffle) was my SO’s dish. He enjoyed it, but I personally don’t like mushrooms. The soup was very thick, in my opinion. Second Course: — Twin Blini(ghost pepper caviar, smoked trout roe, port infused cranberry, sour cream) was great. The ghost pepper caviar I feared would be too spicy, but since it had been reduced, it was actually perfect. The dish was a little small and I was wishing for more with each bite. — Braised Waygu Beef(parsnip purée, water cress, baby french carrots, red wine beef jus) was super super tender and awesome. The jus was delicious and my SO was sopping up each bite just to get it all. Third Course: — Pan Seared Halibut(cauliflower purée, edamame & black bean salad, crispy shallots, beurre blanc) was delicious. The halibut was cooked perfectly and had a nice crust on it. The only thing that was off-putting was the cauliflower purée and edamame & black bean salad was cold. Personally I think it was an odd combination and would’ve been better if it was warm. — Grilled Petite Filet Mignon(gruyère potato gratin, crispy pancetta, grilled asparagus, lyonnaise sauce) was very tender and delicious. Dessert: — Flourless Chocolate Cake: Delicious, with coffee flavored ice cream. Not too dense but definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. — Sample of Sorbets: I forgot what the flavors were, but I know it was passionfruit and champagne and one other one. The champagne one was DELICIOUSSOGOOD. It was probably my favorite sorbet ever. And as we left, the same manager bid us a good night by name! So sweet. We will definitely be back if we ever return to the Boston area!

Food is acceptable, but the manager is horrible, arrogant and rude — unwilling to help patrons in a variety of settings the times I’ve been here, and with a very don’t-mind-if-you-leave attitude. Avoid at all costs; for their overpriced fare and terrible service, you’d be much better off at Pier 6 or the new Legal Oysteria.

This is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Boston. I lived in Charlestown for 5 years and would have gone every night if I could. In addition to the incredible food(best beet salad in Boston), John Moore runs the restaurant like a boss. The frequently-update menu perfectly compliments the seasons, like delicious fresh fish in the summer and heavenly cassoulet in the winter. The wine list is the product of a lot of thought and consideration(and, hopefully, a lot of tasting!) and you can always find a nice bottle to suit your price point. Doug, the bartender, is the best, and all the servers are fantastic. Tip: Get the mussels, even if you don’t like mussels. If I could bathe in the sauce that the mussels come in, I would.

Been going here for the past two years. Nice ambience. The food is a bit pricey but definitely worth the price. Chef has daily specials and I usually try most of them. The ribeye is one of my favorites there. Beet salad, duck wings, pei mussels and fried oysters are a few the staple appetizers to get here. They have a nice little wine selection and Doug the bartender is very helpful in picking one for your dinner. Mostly opens for dinner and is great place to meet friends near the naval yard. If your boat is docked here, it’s also a great place to dine especially on a nice summer night. They also let you change the side dishes for other vegetables.

This place is fantastic. It’s in a great location, nearby the U.S.S. Constitution. Great for visitors! And it’s a favorite among Navy Yard residents. It’s small and quaint with a great atmosphere and ambiance. The staff is friendly and really helpful in recommending a wine selection or menu item. They have a great wine list and run $ 7 glass specials. Their menu is small, but everything is really, really good. At this point, I’ve tried so many things and loved it all. The standouts — truffle fries, duck wings, salmon, and the cod served with wasabi mashed potatoes(when they have it). Great anytime of the year! Cozy and warm in the winter. Bright and sunny with some outdoor seating in the summer. I’d highly recommend to anyone!

After having arrived into town after 7pm from a long day of traveling, we asked our host where we could grab a drink and some good food. He highly recommended Navy Yard Bistro, and said that the food is superb and well-priced. Our expectations weren’t particularly high but we were blown away by the food and incredibly friendly staff. I’m quite picky when it comes to sangria, but their red sangria was delicious and not overly sweet. The honey butter that they serve with their bread is amazing! They were out of the wine that we had ordered to go along with our entrees so they recommended another comparable bottle and comped the difference in price-very cool move. My husband and I shared the caprese salad which was very good. Our scallops were cooked well and tasted fresh. Others at the table enjoyed the pork and chicken dishes. This place is definitely a neighborhood hangout, and not corporate or stuck up at all. It was nice being treated like family even though we weren’t regulars. Just good food, good people, and a good time. Love it!
