A little hole-in-the-wall hidden in a shopping center, Mykonos Café offers a surprisingly good Greek food. Myknonos Café is the sort of place you walk into with no expectations. You’re stuck in a strip mall, you’re hungry, and you end up here. It’s a small location with more a diner feel than anything else. The prices are also really low, ideal for students on a budget or someone looking for a quick lunch. They have all of the Greek staples — gyros, souvlaki, backlava, tzatziki, etc. and you know what… it’s all really good. Above average even, especially the creamy and rich tzatziki sauce, the glue that holds together gyros and appetizers. I would definitely recommend Myknos Café for casual diners looking for good Greek food and affordable prices.

Greek chicken was good but a little dry. It was really all about the potatoes that came on the side. I could eat a whole bowl of those.

Delicious Greek food and absolutely amazing service. Their gyros are impeccable and my fiancé and I frequently dine there. If you’re looking for fantastic Greek food in Charlottesville, I’d definitely recommend Mykonos!

Small cute but slightly hidden spot. I did the gyro platter, it came with so much food! You made the gyro exactly how you want it, plus a side of fries! Service was fast, waitress was good and patient when a needy customer came in as I was leaving. Will go back again!

I’ve been hearing a lot about this place so my friend and I decided to to try it for lunch. We split the chicken souvlaki platter and gyro platter. They’re both essentially the same thing but had different meats. I usually get lamb when I go to Greek places but the chicken souvlaki was highly recommended. Both the chicken and lamb were excellent! The chicken was very well marinated and the lamb was pretty good. Both came with chips and was pretty filling. I felt like a platter should come with more food but it was decent for the price. We also shared a baklava which did not disappoint! The atmosphere is very casual and the service was quick and friendly. I would come back here more often if it wasn’t so far from UVA grounds. This restaurant could definitely replace some of the restaurants on the corner.

I don’t usually do this, but I am going to have to give this place a bad review. It started so well, but went downhill. I stopped in at 6 pm and it was totally deserted. Bad sign. Another bad sign is all the hand-written signs and«greek» everything. The waitress was REALLY nice. I started with humus. This was nice with a fruity hint that was very refreshing. The warm pita made this a complete dish. The entre was a disaster. I had the special, a «Greek version» of ground beef. The beef was seasoned with Greek spices and a pound of salt and cooked to a rubbery consistency. The«Greek» potatoes were dehydrated and«seasoned» with another pound of salt. The«Greek green beans» were interesting, but the seasoning of another pound of salt. I really hope it was an off night, since there were so many positive reviews.

Always fast & reliable, the way a diner should be. As this is a Greek diner, be sure to check out the olive & feta appetizer… yum!

Me and my wife like trying new places and we like Mediterranean Fare. I’ll make this quick. The gyros were really good. The meat was tender, The pita bread was fantastic, the falafel were awesome. The hummus and tstzaki sauce were tasty. My biggest issues with the place was how dirty it was. Floor, walls, tables. I saw dead bugs on the floor. It wasn’t the worst I’ve ever seen but they need to step up the cleaning. But the food was good.

My wife and I go here about twice a month and we have never had a bad experience! The felafel is great and comes out fast every time. It is a great place to get good Greek food for a good price. It helps that the owner is always so sweet!

Although it’s tucked away in the back of a shopping center mykonos is worth a try for sure. This is my second time eating here, first time dinning in. On both my visits I got the gyro platter. Big portions; with the warm pita and extra feta it was pretty satisfying. Came with a small Greek salad and a side of fries. None of it blew me away but it was definitely good especially for the price. The service was wonderful. Very friendly and attentive but not pushy or overly chatty. We had the whole place to ourselves around 430 in the afternoon. I’m sure I’ll come here again for the pleasant atmosphere and to try a few other things on the menu.

Opah! Good food and kid friendly. It ain’t Mykonos, but it’s worth the visit. We get the falafel and gyro and it’s a solid portion.

This is a regular spot for my boyfriend and me when we want something quick, filling, and tasty. We’ve finally become regulars, a feat we have attempted for three years to accomplish. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Christine and the other staff always asks us how we’re doing and is very friendly. I usually stick to the falafel special. Generous portions – big pieces of falafel with pita bread and a Greek salad, with a dish of tzatziki to put on falafel. The tzatziki and pita are delicious. The Greek dressing(salad comes with the platter specials) is quite good, as is the feta. My boyfriend likes their gyro special a lot. I’ve tasted it before and the meat seems to be juicy and flavorful. I’ve also had the eggplant parm, which was fine, but nothing special. The spanakopita is good, but I don’t like it as a meal(very filling, but it’s just a giant piece of spanakopita, nothing else). Soups of the day are usually good and warming, excellent on a cold day.

Not a big fan of gyro meat in any restaurant but was surprised to find a they have a sandwich of pork tenderloin in a pita with the usual condiments. It was very good. Place is tucked away in a strip plaza but is worthy of a try. I will return.

Greek American food — nothing outstanding, but not bad either. Pretty standard diner. Tastes like what you can buy frozen and cook at home.

This place was great! Haven’t had a bad visit and the service was nice too. I was pleasantly surprised that takeout was just as good, you never know sometimes. Try the Greek coffee too! Delish. I recommend all the chicken dishes on the menu!

This place serves some greek dishes and a lot of American food. If you want American food, other places do it better. I love Greek food when it’s done right. We got the Gyro plate and the Mousaka. The gyro was fairly good but its hard to mess up a gyro and the meat tastes the same as the frozen gyro meat you cam buy at the grocery store. The mousaka was bad. So if you want good Greek food this is not the place to go. The service was good. The atmosphere was like a diner. But what I care most about in restaurants is good food and it’s not here.

We returned on Friday! Yumminess =) This time, we were both hungrier so we got two different entrees — hubs went with the Mykonos baked spaghetti and I had the spinach pie(spanakopita) — again, did NOT disappoint! I enjoyed a great greek salad again with my meal, and hubs tried the soup of the day. Great choices! We also had the roasted eggplant and pita appetizer which was so good. I ate it with a spoon when we finished off the pitas. Also, I couldn’t resist the baklava this time — and you shouldn’t either! I was pretty full from dinner, but we took it to go. Server was very personable and our cups were never half-empty!

A hidden JEWEL in the food scene of Charlottesville. For rizzle, people. You can’t get Greek food anywhere in C’ville, and this place is wonderful, and the people who run it are the nicest around. I know, I know, its in a strip mall. But the food is terrific, from tzatziki and dolmades, to moussaka and on through the baklavah. Its wonderful, homestyle, casual Greek cooking. The ladies who work the counter and wait tables are a delight to be around, and the place has a humble, deli-style appeal. Fancy-pants it is not, but the food is comforting, tasty, and served in an easy-going, friendly restaurant. I worry about this place surviving in the Charlottesville eatery scene. With a market so saturated, its easy to miss a little place like this. If you like Greek food, don’t mind a casual dining experience, and want to save your greenbacks, this is the place.
