Chelmsford Premium Meats

I have not yet tried their meats but I ran in the other day and got an Italian sub, OMG, it was SOOOOOOOOO delicious.

Review of thier sausages only.
I’ve gotten sausages from here over the past year three or four times and have always been happy with the quality. The cheese and garlic is my favorite. Very friendly staff.

My husband and I came in here this afternoon after passing by for months. I’m so glad we did! We were planning on hitting up the grocery store later to pick up dinner fixins but left here prepped for a delicious meal! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. They offered tastings of the Gelato which sold us on a container. They were so flavorful! There were many cuts of meat to chose from and we picked the honey bourbon steak tips. On our way out we grabbed a bag of pasta. Perfect choice to mix with some spinach, garlic and parmansean! Made for a wonderful dinner and an excellent dessert. We will definitely be back! Prices seemed typical for a specialty butcher shop, but we felt that we got our money’s worth!

Stopped by the Chelmsford Premium Meat Butcher Shop as we were out doing errands in that area and thought we’d see what they had to offer.
It looked very familiar inside and later we found out it used to be the Meat House franchise that has since mostly gone out of business.
The price of the meats in the case were on the high side, but if the meat is of the high caliber, it’s to be expected.
My husband asked what grade the meat was and the gentleman behind the counter said it was «top choice». Choice meats have 3 levels of grading, «Top Choice» being the highest of the three grades available. Knowing this we bought a steak to try.
They also have salads packaged to go, but as with most places I’m sad to say, they are not made fresh, so for me, that was a disappointment. There were some other salads and sides in the case that I assumed they made, but never asked.
I cooked the steak at home to an inside temp of 135 degrees and checked temp with my Thermapen professional temp tool. The steak was tougher than tough. Very disappointing. Something is very wrong with a Top Choice steak (which is one tier below Prime), that is tougher than shoe leather. We’ve had a lot of Top Choice steaks, and this was not Top Choice.
Very disappointing. If you want to pay for a high quality piece of meat (ours was $ 20.00), this probably is not where you will get it.
I do have to say, this is not the only Butcher Shop we’ve been to with this experience. There are many Butcher Shops out there selling low grade meat for high grade prices. It’s not until you get home you figure it out. Totally frustrating.
