It’s a nice restaurant, my friend and I went there three times when we stayed at fire island. It’s a nice place, friendly atmosphere and they do shows from time to time! I had lots of fun there!

We had a nice time here, and might come back. It’s right off the ferry so the Owner/Manager does his best to funnel people straight into the restaurant with promises of $ 2 Coors Light. I tip my hat to him for the hustle. We shared a mussel pot($ 16), and enjoyed how large and plump the mussels were. The bread that came with it was also tasty. There were a few dud mussels at the bottom of the pot, so i wish those were sifted through more carefully, but not enough to complain about. Careful, it can get expensive. The whisky we had later in the day was $ 13. For a nice welcome appetizer and drink check this place out.

OK, I know everything in the Pines/Cherry Grove is expensive… but I just paid $ 30 for a burger with a side salad and a beer! And this is before the tip! And worse, the burger was TOTALLYMEDIOCRE.

Came with my girlfriends here about 3 weeks ago and I must say that I’ve never had as nice a service as I received in this restaurant. Our server, Brian, was such a charismatic and sweet guy. His great attitude at the restaurant entrance is what convinced us to eat there in the first place then he kept the fun, upbeat, while still professional attitude. Excellent service. Good food. Try the thai peanut calamari.

The service is excellent! Our waiter was brilliant and made our visit more enjoyable. The décor is bright and fresh, and the food was delicious! We sat outside on the patio overlooking the bay and enjoyed a late lunch. This was a long walk for us from Ocean Beach but definitely worth it. Of course, we stopped at many places along the way including dips in the ocean but this restaurant was the prize. The next time, I think we’ll take a water taxi because we absolutely want to come back.

It’s good. Service was a bit slow, but I think that’s likely because they probably only have one cook in the kitchen on a mid-week late afternoon. Food was good. Yes it’s expensive, but you’re on an island! Where else are you going to go for food? Your choices are limited. I’d return again.

Matt & I were intrigued by the long & whimsical review by B. Scarpa on Unilocal, especially paragraph 4, of 11, which opens with«The new wait staff is fabulously young, fresh, friendly and full of energy.» We made this our plan A, and if the venue was not enforcing the no smoking ban, we would just hit the pizza place. We were greeted by Brian, who definitely lived up to the Unilocal review — he was witty and charming and had great suggestions on the food and wine. He was also really fun to banter with and we ended up booking a table for Invasion by the time dinner was over. The appetizer — Thai Calamari was sublime, super delish. We shared a turkey burger, which are usually so bland, but this one had some chili aioli and it was amazing. We also shared the iceberg wedge which is my go-to on any menu, zero nutrition but soooo good. The dressing was a little too thick & goopy, but tasted good. I would get the dressing on the side next time and see if it’s better. Brian said the wine list was a little sparse until after July 1st — but he managed to find us a bottle(ok 2) of a perfectly fine Pinot Grigio. I don’t know how the restaurants in Cherry Grove have not clocked into the revenue stream that a nice pale, provence rose’ could provide. A good bottle costs $ 10 – 20 retail — and trust me, we’d all drink it. I always loved the island breeze and Dave is always so welcoming. Though I didn’t see him on Tuesday night, he should know that Brian did a killer job representing the business, and telling us about Chef Anthony and the new menu on deck for this summer. Sounds divine. I didn’t get the hosts name, but he was lovely too. And JB came out to say hello as well. You’ve got a great team this summer and I look forward to coming in more often. End Note : Though it was not a problem Tuesday, I hope that Island Breeze continues to enforce the Clean Indoor Air Act and prohibit smoking in the restaurant. The outdoor tables that are covered by the ceiling are included in this.

The Island Breeze: The NEW Island Breeze I should say. The first thing you will notice when entering the Island Breeze is the new décor, which is hot, industrial, and clean. Floors redone, walls covered in Metal, New Bar stools, Main room in High Top Tables. The more industrial look and feel is beautiful as well welcoming. The old screened in porch is now windowless and has more formal tables as well the outside deck area has normal size dining table s as well. The new look is wonderful and refreshing. Its nice to see a change for once for the positive and not trapped in a beach feel. The bar are with the high Top Tables leans towards a more Industrial Pub feel while the two lower areas have the more traditional dining room style, so they have successfully providing customers with a choice of whatever experience they feel like having on any given evening. And lets not forget Tish’s Tiki for Sunsets! The best place on the island and a local favorite place to be. The new wait staff is fabulously young, fresh, friendly and full of energy. And we hear that there are a lot of new servers and bartenders joining this summer for a fresher appeal. So we are looking forward to that. Having fresh new waiters, waitress and bartenders is invigorating. As long as they are personable and friendly and attentive you cant go wrong. I have to say that eating on Fire Island is hit or miss, especially early in the season. The only real place to eat these days for Lunch and Dinner in Cherry Grove, before the big opening Memorial Day weekend is The Island Breeze. I have had the pleasure of eating there for lunch and dinner this past weekend and I have to say it was fantastic. For lunch I had the French Dip. Any restaurant can easily ruin this staple sandwich but Chef Anthony at the Island Breeze has mastered it. The roast beef is sliced so very thin and piled perfectly on a soft hoagie roll. With the perfect amount of Mozzarella cheese on it and a creamy horseradish sauce spread just right on the roll. The separate bowl of au jus is delicious and HOT. I requested my French-fried potatoes very well done and they were brought out just perfect as well. The presentation was great as well. I had it with a Belgium PALM beer, which went perfectly with the sandwich. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and it was so thick and creamy with the perfect amount of tangy sauce on it he was left licking his fingers clean. The only thing that would have made it 100% perfection would be a side of creamy sole slaw, but he wasn’t complaining. This was a classic well-done Kansas style Pulled Pork Sandwich. He is already thinking of when he can have it again. After cleaning and opening the house(and a nap) my husband and I decided to go back for dinner. We shared a great bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, which was sensational. I started off with the Baby Kale Salad with pignoli nuts, Shaved Parmesan and Lemon vinaigrette, which was a perfect way to start off my meal. My husband had the Cranberry and Goat cheese salad that came with a balsamic glaze dressing. Both were Crisp, Fresh and presented beautifully. We also shared the Steak & Cilantro Empanadas, which were out of this world. Freshly made and served with an amazing sour cream and salsa. For dinner I had strip steak with garlic-mashed potatoes. Really for Fire Island this can compete with any steak house on the main land. Meat was perfectly cooked, perfect thickness and served with just the right amount of potatoes and garlic green beans. My husband had the Pan Seared Wild Salmon, which was served rare as requested and was accompanied with seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes. This Cherry Grove local eatery and bar has really become a top-notch restaurant, with great drinks, and amazing food. And the best place to watch the sunset at Tish’s Tiki Bar. You really couldn’t ask for a better meal or experience. We are looking forward to many more great experiences at the Island Breeze this season and to a more extensive menu as the summer progresses and looking forward to meeting the new staff. I also hear they are bringing in wonderful New Fresh entertainers from NYC late night fun as well. Bravo to Lynda and David Ross and Chef Anthony for a great beginning of the 2015 season.

Absolutely my favorite spot in all of Fire Island. From the casual yet sophisticated atmosphere to the delicious and delicately prepared appetizers and entrees to the ATOMIC cocktails, the Island Breeze is my «go-to» spot for a fabulous afternoon or evening on the water. You can always meet and old friend or new at Tish’s tikki bar which transforms any day in Cherry Grove to a tropical island destination. Cannot wait to go back next weekend!!!

Went yesterday to the breeze and as usual it always rises to the occasion!!! The drinks and staff were amazing. We were there pre Miss Fire Island and then returned for a fabulous dinner after the show. I always recommend the Breeze. When your there ask for a «Sugar Daddy». Don’t do a shot get it as a tall drink. Pricey but so worth it!!!

Food was actually good but don’t expect to get food the way you want it. The chef will not put sauce on side or make any changes to the meals the way they come. Chef says will serve u the way he wants only. Other area restaurants are much more accommodating. This will be my last resort due to the chef’s attitude towards customer service.

What a great place. The people there are incredibly nice and friendly. Doug the bartender was so helpful and knowledgeable. The clan strips were delicious! My mom ever left her purse in the bathroom and when we came back it was safely behind the bar. Go there and you won’t regret it.

This place earns my most-improved award: Time was, the cuisine here was reheated meals sailed over from the mainland grocery stores, served alongside a blister-pack of Ken’s Steakhouse salad dressing. Now, there is an honest-to-god kitchen plating lobster sliders, fun salads, seafood, etc, and it tastes fresh and novel. With the declining stars of other Cherry Grove restaurants(i.e. The Sandcastle), the Island Breeze has become a favorite of ours during the summer season.

Charming waterside restaurant hard by the Cheery Grove harbor. Rustic and noisy with music and patrons, especially inside. More serene outside. Food is average, but atmosphere is great and staff very efficient and friendly. Calamari with penut aside was a tad dry, but the meatloaf and fish & chips were better.

The service: not so good The food: not so good(or warm) The bill: they add 20% service charge for 4 people, somehow that flies in the face of the service. The value(adjusted for Cherry Grove) not worth it.

I came here last weekend during Labor Day weekend and was promptly seated along with my date. The views are spectacular and was the main factor in drawing us here. The food was decent. Not terrible but definitely not memorable either. We ordered the dozen oysters(a bit sandy), the filet mignon tips and hamburger. The filet mignon tips were good but wayyy too spicy. Overpowered the meat. The hamburger was good but served way too raw at first. I had asked for medium and it came out raw/rare, but it wasn’t a big deal since they took it back. The servers were super nice, albeit slowwwwwwwwwww. Anything you asked for came at least 10 – 15 later. It was Labor Day weekend so I will cut them some slack but it was a bit annoying. Impressive beer and wine list. I found the prices to be very high for bar food.
