Went to Frank for color, cut and blowout. Terrible experience, the color and cut are NOT anything like what I asked for, and I came with pictures. The blowout was horrific. I would never go back.

I come here often when I’m in the area for the make up and had my eyebrows done. Great place wish there were more of them in other states!

Have only had blowouts here and loved them both! My last one was so good! I can’t remember her name, I’m so sad!

This place was just OK. Nothing phenomenal. Wouldn’t come back. I asked for barrel curls and had Frank curl my hair. He curled my hair with no style and I looked like a fake Shirley Temple. It definitely wasn’t what I asked for and that cost $ 50. I then got my makeup done by(I completely forget her name but she was this black girl with an amazing personality!) She did an amazing smokey eye on me, but the rest of the makeup was mediocre. I saw another woman who had her makeup done and it was that typical overdone Jersey style makeup. I had to fix my makeup so I would like it. They had some cheap products too, like Maybelline Stiletto mascara. I thought it was high end makeup? This cost me $ 70. During makeup, a customer cancelled their appointment and the staff bitched about them for like 10 minutes out loud. That’s great customer service. Not! I went to pay my $ 120 bill and was told with an attitude that tips are cash only. Maybe a sign or something would help? If it wasn’t for the makeup artist and the friendly conversation we had during makeup application, I’d give this place 1 star. I wouldn’t come back.

My first experience at here was phenomenal! I went to get a blow out for an event I was going to, and loved it! My hair looked amazing(and stayed in all night), and they even did my eye make up free of charge because I was a first time client. I was so happy with my experience that I went back 6 weeks later for a cut and color. Mistake. My hair was only layered on one side, and the color was streaky and over processed. Worst of all, the highlights didn’t even go all the way to my scalp, and within 4 weeks I had terrible roots. I was so disappointed, and totally embarassed to walk around with hair like that until I had time to get it fixed. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for cut and color :(

My first time at The Make-Up Bar proved to be a refreshing alternative to the over crowded, hard sell salons around town. The atmosphere was charming and warm. I was graciously welcomed and treated like a valued customer, not another product sale patron. It was GREAT. Penny did a superb hut and style and I LOVE it. The Make-Up Bar is a great experience from start to finish. I will return !

All I want is matching eyebrows that compliment my face and tinted a color that matches my complexion. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? After a few years and dozens of failed attempts I finally found Lisa! She is very good at what she does and listens to her customers. No pressure and very relaxing. Everyone is always nice and friendly. My teenage daughter had her hair and makeup done for her Sweet 16 and they made her look like a princess. They were also able to remedy her own botched hair styling attempt. Nice location. I like that I can walk a few doors down to grab a coffee at starbucks to sip while I wait, which is never too long. They offer facials and nail services, too. I have only had one of each over the years and both were very good, but neither is something I do regularly, so I can’t really review on a single service. But the waxings are regular for me and I am super happy with this salon and refuse to go anywhere else!

I’ve been going here since I was 14. My mom found me Penny(love love love) when I was 14 to cut off my 12 inch long hair and change me into a woman. Well, okay that’s a little drastic. But through my teenager-hood, Penny and the rest of the Make-Up Bar was there to beautify me through everything. Unlike other salons I’ve been in where everything is preppy and boring, the Make-Up Bar is the watering hole for the Amazon Goddesses of South Jersey. Seriously. They can make you look like a Kardshian with the blink of an eye(And I love the Kardashians, so don’t hate.) I haven’t done any of their spa treatments(«You can pay for that yourself!!» Says my mother to 15 year old me, yearning for a facial and a pedicure), but as far as hair cuts and make-up, it’s my favorite place to go. Like I said, I’ve known Penny since I was an awkward 14 year old, and she knows my personality and my sense of style and when I suggest something to her she knows how to make it for me instead of just copying a photo. She is the best in the salon for up-dos. I’ve gotten my hair cut by Jonathan once before when Penny was out of town, and he was good and I see his work when I go in, I definitely recommend he and Penny over everyone else. Lisa is the owner and does makeup/waxing and she is a genius. I wanted to look like a glamazon for my cousin’s wedding so I booked an appointment to get my makeup done with Lisa(who I had gone to before for both proms and another family wedding.) I consider myself«fashion forward» and I came in with a beauty shot from a Versace show a few seasons earlier and she mimicked it perfectly, and luckily it was a great compliment to my dress. I was in a wedding a few months laterand had my makeup and hair done by the bride’s salon, which turned out fine,(after all, the wedding wasn’t about me– well, at least not outright) but all I kept thinking was«I wish Penny and Lisa were here.» It is expensive, I won’t lie. But this isn’t Hair Cuttery, this is a real salon that can transform you from a tired mess to a polished vixen.
