I love love LOVE this store. It’s always so organized and everything always looks perfect. I went there for peppermint bark and found just what I needed. The cashier was very friendly and wrapped the bark and made it appear to be the perfect small holiday gift. Very happy!

I love this store. They have always been so helpful and friendly. They offer great classes about once a month on the weekends(call the store to RSVP). The selection of seasonings is reasonably priced and they have a great selection of drink mixes.

I visited the Chesterfield Williams-Sonoma location on the hunt for some Father’s Day gifts for Dad. I had a pretty good idea what I wanted to get but I still seem to wander through WS everytime I go. I had a very friendly greeting when I walked through the door and was asked if I needed any help finding anything. I did not but it was nice to be approached. I went right to the BBQ goods and found a great selection of grill tools, rubs and sauces. They had a great four pack of rubs that I chose. Not to mention, they also have a tasting station of all the BBQ sauces. After many samples, I decided on the spicy root beer BBQ sauce(it is really good). While WS is not the least expensive option, the quality and selection is really great. If you have a chance, stop by and sample the sauces!

i must be somewhat aloof what customer service should be because the previous reviews have been ‘3-stars’ and above(hey, i come from the Northeastern states), but this place disappointed me big time. such a shame, since i love WS stuff so much(it was one of our places we had our wedding registry) and have had positive experiences in other WS venues… except this one. poor customer service + attitude = BIG disappointment. my husband and i received several WS gift cards as wedding gifts and looked forward to looking at what this store to spend them at, in hopes to finish off our wedding registry gift list. when we got to the store, it was obviously busy for the holiday season. i waited in-line at the cash register like everyone else, to ask where where we good get a print-out of gift registries. i would’ve asked other WS staff, but there didn’t seem to be any WS staff on the floor to answer my simple question. once i got to the front of the line, the guy behind the counter seemed irritated that i even bothered to ask for a gift registry and acted like i should’ve known where the computer is to print out the registry. apparently, the gift registry computer is off to a side, not labeled overhead as ‘gift registry computer’ and built into a shelf along the cooking ware section. so tell me, how was i suppose to know the thing was there? once we finally got a couple of things(one of the items were wrapped in the WS wrapping paper to be given as a gift) and went back to the cash register line. unfortunately, we got the same ‘irritated’ guy and he rang us up. knowing that one of the items we purchased was a gift, he failed to offer to wrap the item with the standard green ribbons they typically wrap their gifts in(i know they do this since we got so many WS wedding gifts from our guests). my issue is, since you pay ‘top dollar’ for WS wares(it’s hella expensive, as some things should be), i would only expect the personnel to treat us as WS clientele, rather than as if we were being rung-up at a local Walmart(no offense, please) or the gas station. at least the gas station provides a kind«hi, how are you.» this WS location did not impress me: i’d rather deal with with ‘less-impersonal’ website and order my stuff online, than to be treated as if i should know this store layout like the back of my hand.

Even with gas prices on the rise, I will drive past the Plaza Frontenac location which is closer to my home and go to the Chesterfield Mall to shop. The customer service here is head and shoulders above the PF location. We were shopping for a particular knife that was advertised on sale in an email we received. When calling the Plaza Frontenac store, we were informed that they did not carry the item, and that it was only available via mail order or the Internet. Thinking that seems kind of odd, we also called the Chesterfield store and were delighted to hear that they indeed had the knife in stock. They were happy to hold it for us, so being a Sunday we made an excursion west. When we entered the store we were greeted with a friendly«hello» and«welcome to Willams– Sonoma». When we identified ourselves, they had the knife ready at the cash wrap. While showing the knife, the sales professional actually could sell benefits of owning the knife. When she found out Brad was a chef, she told him about the professional discount. That was even more delightful then find the actual knife. Who doesn’t like a professional discount? Of course there were papers to fill out and hoops to jump through, but for 20% off it is worth it. While closing the sale, the lady assisting us continued to point out various other things going on in the store and items we might be interested in. Having a strong retail background, I was impressed the way she did it in a very casual conversational way. It was selling, but she made it appear as close friends talking over a glass of wine or coffee. This will now be my WS of choice between the two stores in STL.

A friend of mine registered his wedding at Williams Sonoma among other places. I figured I’d go and check it out since I had passed it so many times before without ever going in. They really do have everything you need for a kitchen. They have knives, small appliances, and so much more. The only catch is the disturbing prices. Everything in the store is roughly 3x the amount you could pay for the same kitchen item at, let’s say, Macy’s. Williams Sonoma does have a reputation of featuring high-quality products and unmatched customer service. I guess it really just depends on how much you’re willing to spend. The lady who helped me try to decide what to get was really helpful, but we couldn’t find anything in my small price range. I ultimately ended up getting him a gift certificate that might get him half a bread knife.
