For a local hardware store, Turney’s is just fine. I have been going there for a long time. My dad shopped there when I was a kid, no such thing as Home Depot back then. I have never experienced the«grumpy old man» syndrome people are talking about. I think people are just trying to be funny at the expense of a reputable business. They have little bit of everything. Great paint selection, auto parts, keys, grills, lawn furniture, plumbing, electrical, etc. It is so nice to live in Chesterland and run in and out for my hardware needs. I have been in this store many, many times. The service I have received is great!

I like going here because it’s close, but the prices are high and the service is awful. It’s been the same group of grumpy old men working there forever. It would be nice if they would look at you and acknowledge that you’re talking to them. I’ll keep going there just for the fact that I don’t want to drive 20 minutes for a few little parts. But please do something about the service, maybe bring in some fresh faces.

Oh my gosh! lol So, I’ve never been to Turneys but I’m in this area today and first decided to check them out on Unilocal. Both customer reviews speak of crappy customer service. So out of curiosity I called just to see if they’re open. *ring ring* Turneys: «Turneys» Me: Hi. What are your hours today? Turneys: 8. Me: … Me: … Me: Does that mean your open until 8? Turneys: yup. No… we close at 7 today Me: are you open tomorrow? Turneys: yup Me: … Me: … Me: ok. Thanks Horrible service even on the phone. Not going bother going into that place. Holy crap. lol

Staff is rude and unhelpful. Will drive to big box store from now on for hardware needs. I like to support small local businesses but I have had my limit with the attitudes here.

I go to Turneys a few times every month. The customer service is sub-par to say the least. Recently I visited the store for some parts for a plumbing project. I approached a man in his late fifties or early sixties at the desk in the south end of the store and asked if they had what I was looking for. He didn’t even bother to look up from what he was doing to give me a brief, non-helpful response. He basically told me I was out of luck. I went on to look around and I found what I was looking for anyways with no help from the staff. I went back to the counter and asked the gentleman another question, he barely acknowledged me as he appeared to be talking to someone with whom he was more familiar. I thanked him anyway(not sure why) and he couldn’t even muster a «your welcome» or «no problem.» The more I visit this store, the more I wonder why I’ve made the 15 minute drive in the first place. Some serious staff overhaul is needed. At least engage a customer and look him/her in the eye, even if you don’t care about them. Pretty f’n rude. 2 thumbs way down.
