The family was in Chestertown for a week and we were looking for a good breakfast place and we found this gem. The server was VERY nice to our two young boys… when they ordered pancakes the server asked what shape they would like… so the boys had pancakes int he shape of crabs and motorcycles! It is that small gesture that won my wife and I over. And the food was great! I was on the mend from a cold and had ordered chicken noodle soup… despite the fact that the soup wasn’t going to be ready for another hour(is was late morning) the cook prepared the noodles early and I was able to get a bowl of home-made soup! My wife had a sandwich and she raved about it. Hit this place up if you are in town!

Breakfast food was acceptable and tasty, but because you buy items a la carte out actually gets expensive for what it is. Never had lunch here only breakfast. There was a couple tables seated and the people looked gross and the cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par. They seem understaffed and I think carpeting in a restaurant with limited staff can become a problem because it holds dirty and everything else. My problem is that I did get bit by bed bugs along my legs. It may have just been coincidence. My legs hurt like hell when I left this place. I’m hoping it was from something else. Nonetheless, the food was above average for breakfast. Not great but yes above average. The cheese omelette was very good, bacon crisp etc but was it worth it, can I say a hells no. I will say the ambiance of the place is very cute and nostalgic. If, I was not concerned about bugs, I wouldn’t be against coming back. Hopefully the owner can respond to meet here and say he had exterminated, and will continue to do so. It makes sense to have the carpets cleaned once every couple weeks and exterminated monthly, small price to pay for a clean smelling restaurant that is bug free.

I’ve eaten here twice, once last week on 9⁄30 and then today(10⁄6) for breakfast. This is a quaint little hole in the wall diner with a table for the regulars that gather every morning. Like in the TV show Cheers… the staff knows all the regulars by name and by what they like to eat. This place is nothing fancy, but that doesn’t mean the food isn’t good, because it is. Most of the tables are set up for 4, but there is one long table that the regulars sit at, and one large round that will 6 – 8. This is a family business and you can tell as there is a display case with photos of the family, right down to the young lady who graduated HS this last year. Today I had a Fried Egg sandwich with BACON… mmm, yumm!!!, lettuce, and tomatoe on Rye along with a bottomless cup of good coffee. The total $ 6.04 with tax. Last week I had two eggs over easy with bacon… mmm, yumm!!!, rye toast and homefries(yup, these potatoes were caramelized). Again with a bottomless cup of good coffee. All for about $ 8.00 total with tax. Service is quick and friendly. They also take credit cards(Visa, Mastercard, and Discover) with no minimum purchase.

I like old American diners with random t-shirts hanging on the wall, some badly hung pictures from the town in 1931 and cheap food on the menu. Service is quick and no-nonsense. The tables are covered in ads from random places, and even the coffee cups have ads on them. Coffee was good, and in a town where most breakfasts will set you back 50 dollars for two people, it is nice to find a place to relax and enjoy a halfway decent grilled cheese or french toast for 7 bucks with a 1,10 dollar cup of coffee.
