Wonderful studio… Fabulous trainers! You cannot beat the price for personal training. One wish: longer weight training and shorter cardio…

I joined Get in Shape for Women at the Chestnut Hill location about 3 and a half months ago and have been very pleased with the exercise program. Prior to that I had been doing nothing and feeling guilty, and then hired a personal trainer to come to my house for an hour a week. It was expensive and once a week just wasn’t enough to build up any momentum. I go to GSFW3 times a week now and feel like I’m getting a complete workout with weights and cardio. The trainers are both terrific. They are observant and helpful, careful to prevent injuries and maximize benefits. The manager, David is also a trainer, and couldn’t be nicer or more low key. When I first met him I was wary of a sales pitch, but he was encouraging without being pushy. The gym is clean, friendly, and unpretentious without a lot of extras that I wouldn’t use. I exercise then go home. It’s perfect for me.

I don’t know why the old negative review is the only one that shows here. I have belonged to this gym for a few years now and love it. It reminds me of Cheers in that ‘everybody knows your name.’ The trainers have all been great(women and men alike). They all emphasize proper form and amount of recommended weight as well as knowing how to modify exercise for anyone with injury. The standard workout at GISFW is a half hour of weight training in a small group(4 or less) and a half hour of cardio on the machines. The current manager is a really nice guy who is a trainer first and not a high pressure salesman. Yes, it’s expensive, but you have three appointments a week with a personal trainer which you are expected to keep and the accountability keeps many of us showing up week after week.
