I went to Dr. Lindquist to remove a cyst growing in my jawbone. I thought that I was going for a consultation, but he offered to remove the cyst using local anestetic, a procedure which only took about 30 minutes. I was grateful to be taken care of so quickly, but I was not prepared for a surgery and recovery that same day. I have a three complaints. 1) I filled out the online forms so that I wouldn’t have to fill them out in the waiting room, but they lost my file and I had to fill them out again. 2) His bedside manner was terrible. He offered to do the surgery same day, and then started numbing me up without explaining what the surgery and recovery would be like. It would have been helpful to know what I was getting into first. At least I saved the $ 100 consultation fee. 3) I perform surgeries on rats as part of my job, and I noticed that Dr. Lindquist was not using sterile gloves. He also took off gloves, set them down, and put them back on again. That’s not what I like to see from people doing surgery. They should keep the site as sterile as possible! *Disclaimer: I am also in quite a bit more pain than I expected to be in right now, so that may color this review.

Our child had four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lindquist. We found him and his staff in both the Chevy Chase and the K Street offices to be kind and competent. Our child developed dry sockets and was in a great deal of pain. We saw Dr. Lindquist several additional times to have packings inserted and removed. He did so efficiently and at times when we could make it to his office. The packings provided almost instant pain relief(although the smell of cloves took some getting used to.) We were glad to have someone as calm and considerate as Dr. Lindquist to treat our child.

Having had to do some follow-ups with Dr. Lindquist’s office I thought I’d give my two cents on that. After my surgery, my recovery went along pretty decently. By Saturday I was eating hamburgers! But on Sunday I had a very nagging, somewhat painful aching in one of the extraction sites. The likely suspect? Dry socket. I went to Dr. Lindquist’s office the next morning but had to schedule an appointment for that day. No big deal, I saw him later that day and he put a medicated dressing in the problematic socket. The dressing tasted awful for about 10 minutes(it’s bathed in oil of cloves, which is great for toothache but tastes really bitter) but it also killed the pain which never came back. The next day another socket started acting up, and today when I came in to have that first dressing replaced the nurse also put a dressing in this other socket. So yeah, I’ve had a very good post-operative experience with Dr. Lindquist and his very good staff. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs to have their wisdom teeth removed.
