Went with a friend on October 30, we stayed there for 2 hours and had drinks. Next thing the check came and they charged my credit card $ 169.69. How on the earth, two people can drink that much in two hours while in this bar. When tried to contact the staff to fix it. The called bouncers and tried to humiliate us. So we left. This place sucks!!!

Y are you still here Y bar? To start off, Y bar has the most douche door staff as far as cubs in Chicago go, some Asian guy, who think he is doing you a favor by manning the doors of a half empty, tiny overpriced bar/lounge space. guess not! Then you get inside and it’s a really small space with weak drinks and a sorry looking Euro crowd with dudes thronging the narrow aisle and a few girls [ from the looks of it the friends/off duty co-workers of the bartenders in few groups. So, if you are following me thus far — not a great scene, not to many people, rude staff and average drinks. And never a good DJ. And to top it off, they want to charge you $ 20 cover at 11:15 pm to get into a empty. Hmm no thank you. With neighboring clubs Shay and parliament getting the headliners and a similar $ 20 cover, bump-n-grind option in next door sound bar, new entrant Room 7 in gold coast and classy places like Paris as viable options for your night out on the town, stay away from Y.

Not really worth my time. It’s small and the staff is rude. As I entered the building, the bouncer told me I had to wear heels, I was slightly upset because it was not like I was wearing gym shoes but fine I switched shoes. I walked inside and saw girls with flats and sandals on. I wonder what made it different for me and why i had to change shoes. I’m 5’11 not like I really need to put on 5 inch heels. Then on our way out one of the ladies at the door was rude and had an attitude wth my friend as we were leaving. She was getting a wristband for the after party and the woman was rushing her and being rude wanting her to leave as if she couldn’t see the wristband being put on my friends wrist. This place really isn’t worth anyone’s time. Go some where else instead.

Terrible door service they talk to people as if they are animals. The club isn’t even that great and they act as if they are Paris or a high end club. If I wasn’t here for a friend’s birthday I wouldn’t have walked right back out. Extremely unprofessional. They have attitudes and were yelling though we bought a table and paid. Will never be back. Everyone here should be fired… including the owner of they condone this behavior.

Do not visit this place! They discriminate on the basis of disability. Omar, the ill-informed and poorly trained at costumer service bouncer, refused to let my party in because they were wearing flats. Certain members of my party were unable to were heels because of preexisting medical conditions. This place definitely lives up to its reputation of poor service, douche bag-ness(not a word) and bouncers that build self esteem by being rude to would be patrons. There’s a reason why their Unilocal reviews are already so low. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Very rude staff! Encountered the no heel policy from the bouncers. They seem to only enforce the rule when they feel like it. There are too many bars in Chicago to deal with inconsistent rules and rude staff. I’ll pass and you should too!

This place is complete bullshit. Me and my friend came here for a birthday party-someone who had a table and they told my friend she couldn’t come in because she wasn’t wearing heels. I tried to to let the bouncers know we had a table. Well since they wanted to let other bitches in wearing gym shoes they can fuck off. This is why these type of establishments can’t make it in Chicago now. Extremely rude staff and all they had to say in response is that they had an extreme dress code to policy. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone as they are extremely rude and some assholes.

Before even getting here I was having flash backs of my bday party I had here several years ago. I had vowed never to come back after being charged $ 520 for one grey goose bottle. My boyfriend at the time and his friends had a separate tab set up and he was charged around the same. Pricey!!! I found myself back here Friday night to celebrate someone’s birthday. First off… things have change. Our purses were check but then we had to get wand searched by this huge bouncer guy. I didn’t remember that occurring before. I asked him what I should expect inside that they need all this security and he said«to be safe» that got me laughing. Once inside it was exactly how I remembered. Pretty much the whole space is VIP and the poor must congregate in the aisle. There’s definitely eye candy here for the guys… and the men there that night weren’t bad either. Not sure what they play other nights, but Friday is hip hop, so I enjoyed the music. I didn’t pay for my drinks but I’m sure there still pricey. I’m not really into clubs anymore, but overall it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Get there early though or you’ll be waiting outside for awhile. $ 20 cover charge

Celebrated my «21st»(cough*cough) birthday here a couple of weeks ago and was treated extremely well by the manager: Yosif. The waitress/server/vip girl on the other hand, was simply ok. Not great, not bad, just ok. It’s definitely easier to maneuver now since they’ve pushed back some tables to allow room for a mini dance floor. The music was to be expected: «untz untz» although they did throw in some hip hop later in the night. You can find some street parking if you come early enough and/or have enough patience to drive around and around. Otherwise, there are some parking lots nearby and they also valet.

Good spot to come to on a Sunday. It fills up around 1230am, the dance floor is rather small and the DJ puts the music a little too loud but the variety in music is good(hip hop, latin and minimal house) and the bartenders are excellent. Shout out to Leo the Puruvian bartender who is always all smiles, friendly, quick and will even take shots with you! Great spot for vip as its very pretty and cozy but with a crowd of 200+ it does get a little cramped. Parking was easy on sunday but remember to the pay the meter all night. Thanks chicago for the $ 100 ticket… nice friendly reminder that you love to guzzle our money.

More upscale, uptight environment and expensive drinks. The music is pretty good though and it’s more of an older crowd.

I went here with some friends on New Years Eve, as the boyfriends friends got bottle service for the night. It looked promising, as they said: open bar until midnight, h’orderves, midnight champagne toast, and even promised a fancy DJ Now, I’m a bit of an electro-junkie, and love to re-live my Ibiza experience whenever I can. Everything else just seemed like icing on the cake. The space was very beautiful, and was well decorated for the occasion. However, I was slightly surprised by the lack of attention our table received… no refills on the soda/cranberry/tonic, and honestly had no idea who our server was until he brought out the bill. A little strange, especially given how much tip they receive. The h’orderves(sushi) was delicious, but too few and far between. Only three plates were brought out the whole night and were split between all of the tables. Not to mention, this was finger food. No plates, no soy sauce, just your fingers and a napkin.(This was rough for my group because the restaurant we were supposed to go to prior lost POWER, and we were hungry!) The open bar, however, was great. It was literally whatever we wanted and included all top shelf liquor. Now, I understand it’s New Year’s Eve. And I understand it’s a shit show. But dear lord, if your customers are spending $ 1,000+, maybe you shouldn’t be rude to them. Lights went on at 1:30am, and the bouncer couldn’t kick people out in the cold fast enough. Sorry, bro but that little room you want us to shuffle out to is full of people. Oh, I’m sorry, I can’t even zip my coat up? Lose the tude, bro. I should also mention that this DJ they promised, never showed. Aaaaand it was never announced that he wasn’t going to show. Oh, well! Overall, we had fun. But I left unimpressed.

Night clubs in downtown Chicago are def out of my element, but this turned out to be a fun night. I went to their Halloween costume party and had a blast. We splurged for a friends bday and got bottle service. Servers were great and what fun when they bring out the bottles with sparklers. She made sure we all always had a drink in our hand. Shots, champagne, vodka… the works. The decorations and theme for the nigh were so fun too. Classy people there having fun. We danced our butts off on the couches! It got a bit cramped, but never a problem. Go with the right people and money and you will have a great time.

Well I’ve been here enough times to tell you it’s not bad, It’s not my favorite spots but I still go here when friends want to go. I am exceptionally pleased with the new look and the way they take care of you there. I usually go with my girls, so getting in is no problem :-) and the bouncers are super cool! We had a good group going and it usually gets packed after midnight, so we did manage to get a table beofrehand. Our service was always a plus, the lady always checked on us and made sure we got everything we needed.

My employer rented the place out for one night for a staff party so I did not get the typical experience others would get on a regular night. We had a limited comped bar(understandable) but when a colleague requested to pay for a shot of patron, the bartender said she didn’t have any. No patron? In a way I think the bartender did her a favor because there are better tequilas out there but I was shocked that the only tequila they had on hand was Corzo. So poured the Corzo they did… They have a small dance floor and the space itself is pretty tiny.

Y Bar is called Y for a reason. It stands for«Y am I here?» Tiny, overcrowded with rude people who just push their way through. I will give props to the female bartneder(brunette, not sure what her name is), as she makes great French martinis.

This place is awful! It’s so douchey! First, if you don’t get a table forget about it! The drinks are way over priced and watered down. The staff is friendly, only redeeming quality. They cram you in, it get super packed. There are plenty of other clubs to go to that don’t suck so much. Pick a place on this block or the next. Don’t waste your time!

I think its rather amusing that whenever I went clubbing in the neighborhood, it was always either Crescendo, Sound Bar, or Spy Bar and NOT Y bar which was right next door. Well, got invited to a birthday party which featured a bottle service of Belvedere. As a critic of the whole Cliché package deal of bottle service and attractive servers(pointless by the way), and as a bartender that enjoys making drinks as interesting as possible with MANYMORE ingredients than OJ, CJ, and tonic water, my expectations were turned off completely. I even smiled when I first entered the place telling myself(and the place), «This shit again? Can I be surprised at ALL?» I think it very much might have been because I had no standing expectations at all but… –I had a fun time!- The décor was VERY nice. I’d definitely put it above ALL of its neighbors in the area. I think the fact that I was drinking free belvedere too was what made things great. We left the place after we finished the bottle. What I just realized as well was that it was actually GREAT being there at the place around 10:30 when only a few people were there. It was just as if we had the place to ourselves. So my overall tip is: Get a good one belvedere bottle package deal through a birthday or a promoter. Be there around 10:00~10:30 with your friends when you know you have the whole place to yourselves will not have to raise your voice when talking to your friends. Oh and as a final thought, no prior expectations

Yeah, I’m going to give you a big fat NOTHANKS! I went to Y Bar a few weeks ago. It was on a Saturday night. Immediately, when I walk in, I notice the lack of «diversity», it’s pretty much, 99% white. Okay, so I’m totally fine with that. However, the music was TERRIBLE! We have lots and lots of techno, stuff with no beat, music you can only jump up and down to and hopefully you land on a note. The drinks are expensive and watered down. I ordered Tequila with water. He definitely thought I said watered down tequila. No, homie, I did not. Point is, if you go out to not have a good time, I think this is the place for you, otherwise, skip it. Hatedit.
