This place is a small little joint that sells all types of Italian food. I usually just come here for slices of Pizza during lunch which are great and cheap. I would recommend their deep dish over their thin. I recently tried the chicken parm sandwich which was also delicious. Really well done overall. My roommate also has the lasagna from time to time and enjoys. Seems like they do a pretty good job across the board.

In terms of pizza delivery, it is very hard to find excellent thin crust pizza in Lincoln Park. After ordering from multiple locations, I’ve finally found one that consistently delivers on quality and taste. I’ve ordered from Amato’s many times, and have always been happy with the result. One item they can improve, however, is the on-line ordering system via their website. The site provides unclear information(such as not mentioning the actual size of the pizza), doesn’t allow for ½ orders of toppings, etc. The $ 3 coupon for on-line orders doesn’t help when the website is not set-up properly. At any rate, if you live in Lincoln Park and are craving thin crust pizza delivery… Amato’s is the place.

Decided to give Amato’s a try last night after breezing through the Unilocal reviews. I ordered a medium pepperoni thin crust pizza for delivery via GrubHub. Delivery time was accurate, so no complaints there. The pizza, however, I found to be lacking. The cheese had hardened enough that it kept separating from the crust, which is always annoying. The pizza had barely been cut into slices(maybe a quick once-over by the person preparing it), so when I would go to remove a piece from the pie, it would be stuck to other pieces, thus perpetuating the issue of the separating cheese. The sauce was just okay to me, and I’m big on sauce. I just think there was a little too much of it and it was a bit thick. This could be a matter of personal preference, but I just didn’t enjoy it that much. In all, I love pizza even when it isn’t great so Amato’s will get two stars for me — one for their delivery and the next because it’s pizza — but I doubt I’d order again.

The pizzas here are excellent, be they thin crust or deep dish(either with a cheese crust or with a tomato filling). Recommend to make your own with the choice of ingredients. Found that three is a good number. Used to order from well known places but these kick ass! Better use the app bc when they are busy, they don’t pick up the phone.

Amato’s: yes your pizza will do in a pinch. It’s good for situation when you’re really hungry and you would like a pizza that will arrive relatively quickly and you don’t want to wait for something better. If, however, you are expecting to get exactly what you ordered, you may want to look somewhere else. Like, maybe I’m being picky, but when I order a pan pizza, I don’t want to receive a a stuffed pizza. This is what happened the first time I ordered and they got it wrong. I decided not to say anything and just let it slide. I told them about it later and they didn’t offer me anything-whatever. Willing to let that slide. However, the second time they got my order wrong, they sent me a pan pizza with no sauce. Now, you’re probably thinking, «What? A pan pizza in Chicago with no tomato sauce?! They must have been super apologetic and offered to send you a new pizza right away?!» Nope. Not the case. First, they tried to tell me that their pan pizzas don’t come with sauce. When I explained that I had indeed had their pan pizza several times before and knew it was supposed to have sauce, I was told«they put it under the cheese and I probably just couldn’t see it.» I explained that I had in fact looked under the cheese and there was no sauce. She was silent and asked if she could put me on hold. After being on hold for five minutes, I was told, «I don’t know what to say because he said he put sauce on your pizza.» And I said, «So are you saying that you don’t believe me?» And she said the following: «Well, I guess I have to take your word for it.» At this point I was very frustrated with the entire interaction. Resigned, I asked her, «Will you please just send me another pizza with sauce on it?» She said okay. I thought that the issue had been handled. Two minutes later, Amato’s calls me back and asks me to give the driver the«sauceless» pizza when they delivered my new pizza, which, by the way, would take another 45 minutes. At this point, I was so shocked and upset I decided to just go to Amato’s, with my sauceless pizza in hand. When I showed the woman the sauceless pizza and proved that I was not a liar or a person who didn’t know where to find the sauce on the pizza, she shrugged her shoulders and said«I don’t know why they made it like that.» NOKIDDING. I DON’T EITHER. This, by the way, was the manager, that I had been dealing with the whole time. I told them I didn’t want another pizza and just asked for a refund. They had the audacity to ask me for my receipt, when a guy from the back stepped in and said I didn’t need it. So, this story has a happy ending. I ended up with no pizza, however I did get my $ 23.65 back. Oh wait, I told them to let the driver keep my $ 6.35 tip. So, feel free to order from Amato’s, but prepare yourself to waste an hour and a half of your time, 7 dollars of your money and end up pizza-less. Best of luck Amato’s…

Come here whenever I have a craving for pizza but don’t want to buy anything more than a slice l. Their pizza is extremely yummy! I usually pick up a slice to go but the last time I came here my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I decided to live life on the wild side and ordered 2 slices. Needless to say I couldn’t eat the second slice but thankfully my friend saved the day and ate the other slice later in the evening. I like the location also.

An old favorite… this place never disappoints. GOOD quality pizza at reasonable prices. Their thin’s my go-to… it’s not too thick or cracker thin. Perfect amount of cheese & toppings & the sauce is wonderful. Always fresh ingredients & great service. And they use Belly — what’s not to like?! Stop in for a slice next time you’re shopping nearby.

My favorite pizza place in the city! I moved in right down the street from this gem a little over a year ago. It’s always delicious, hot, and fresh, no matter what you order. And when you go in to grab a slice, you actually get two large slices as your«one slice». It’s glorious. In addition, this has proven to be a pizza place that is good at all types of pizza: thin, thick, and deep dish. I will say that since introducing an app and online ordering, there do seem to be a few kinks that still need to be worked out here and there. However, on the one occasion that there was a snag in communication for my online order, the manager very graciously comped a portion of the bill and gave me free pop while I waited. No restaurant is perfect, but you can measure how much they value their patrons by the way they handle customer service. Edit: The problem with online ordering has now happened three times. Pro tip: order through Unilocal or GrubHub instead of using the Amato’s app. In conclusion, get some of this pizza in your face, buddy. Update: Sadly, despite how delicious the pizza is, my online order has been messed up two more times, so I’m down-grading to three stars. :(

I was divvying along when I passed the store and saw a station nearby. It’s 3pm but I’m starving so I decided to check it out. The place itself is very small and cozy with Italian/black & red décor. There were already a few tables enjoying some pizza and the Travel channel on the TV. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and they actually handed back 2 slices(woo!). I also got a Dr. Pepper to go along. The pizza looks like school pizza, but the taste is nothing similar. It was a perfect blend of savory & sweet, and wasn’t greasy at all. Plus they have wifi and it’s BYOB. Was it the best pizza I’ve ever had? Nah, but for the price and convenience, it’s well worth a visit. I’m glad this place is about a mile away from my apt and will definitely come back again.

Very tasty italian sub sandwich. It was also a generous portion and comes with a side and drink for about 8 bucks. A true value play. Great service, clean establishment.

Fantastic neighborhood pizza joint. I moved from LP closer to the loop and really really miss this place. The quality of Za and price is excellent — just make sure to ask first what’s fresh then go with that. Owners/employees are friendly and there is really quick service. Whether it’s grabbing a slice on the way home from work or after a night out at 2am, this place gets the job done. Rock on Amato’s.

Ordered from here a few times now because of proximity. Delivery time has always been appropriate. In a recent experience, we got a large thin crust veggie. Other times included other standard options(sausage, pepperoni). I actually really thought about their pizza when consuming and it just isn’t that good. It was actually rather bland, which I guess is preferred over than overly-salty, as with most joints. Yes, you usually get free bosco sticks(which are pretty blah) or some other discount with a coupon, but the prices of the pizza itself is already inflated and the freebie is pretty much already accounted for in the price. Want to love this local place, but I just don’t. Very average.

After seeking out pizza in the midst of a Hanger Attack earlier today, only to find the pizza oven broken, I was on a serious mission for some good thin crust Chicago pizza before flying back to Charleston. The reviews for Amatos were not all that promising, but we were on a time crunch and across the street at Goose Island. We took a chance. I AMSOGLADWEDID! The pizza was delicious. Piping hot, perfectly crispy crust with a balanced cheese-to-ingredient ratio. Sauce was thick and tomato-tangy, just the way I like it. The guys in there were really friendly and even let me apply the coupon stapled to the box to my order. It was exactly what I needed before leaving my hometown. I’ll definitely be back.

Coming to Chicago was supposed to be my pizza awakening, and I don’t mean that to sound glib. I was supposed to be riding down the street in a pizza car, on my way to my pizza job where every few hours or so I’d take a pizza break before eventually leaving work to go kick it in my pizza mansion with my pizza girlfriend and pizza dog. Guess what I found? A thousand cookie cutter deep dish joints that cram a generic stuffed pizza down your gullet and then try to convince you what they do is some kind of art. Have you eaten at Gino’s, Giordano’s, Lou Malnato’s? Yes, I have, and they’re all fine, but close my eyes and stick one of their pizza’s between my lips and I’d have a hard time telling one from the other. But Amato’s…Amato’s is unique. Not just it’s quaint little corner setting, with its lone flatscreen and nostalgia-inducing checkered table cloths; though, I love that stuff, too. It’s more about the pizza itself. Eating nice, fresh thin crust from Amato’s is like eating the first slice of cake at God’s birthday party. It gives you the kind of feeling reserved for Super Bowl MVPs and that Japanese guy who’s really good at eating hot dogs, like you’re better than everyone in the world so long as you’re in that moment. I could literally eat Amato’s for hours. Sure, would I get fat? Hell yeah I’d get fat. But if the fat originated from the sweet, not-so-greasy amalgam of cheese, sauce and a whole lotta balls, then I daresay I’d welcome the impending obesity. Come get me, fat America. If Amato’s is driving, I’m ready to take the ride. And if you really want to live, step it up to pan style.

I probably stop at Amatos once a week because I work down the street. Anytime I have that craving for pizza, Amatos is there to satisfy the hunger. Generous slices and a really good deep dish keep me coming back. The staff, they know how to create customer loyalty and good service goes a long way. Try the buffalo chicken sandwich if you’re not looking for a slice.

I work at the dry cleaners next door to them I’ve eaten here countless times before but their pizza took me by surprise. Being an idiot I didn’t look at their reviews assuming they would have great pizza. They give a generous amount of pizza. Their pizza by the slice price is actually 2 slices and it was a nice surprise. I highly recommend you get their fresh in the oven pizza.

Its good schizzle. I’ve been ordering from Amato’s whenever I’ve felt the pizza monster call for the past several months, and I have to say, I’m liking what I’m getting. They have a great special where if you order $ 20 worth of food/bevs, you get a free order of Bosco sticks and marinara. SLAMMIN. I love cheese filled breadsticks. I also dig the crust. It’s soft and kind of bready, but not too thick. Seriously perfect. I get a cheese pizza with fresh garlic and I ask that it’s cooked well done. I like my crust nice and browned. They comply every time. The sauce is also not the sweet variety you see at D’Ags. It’s nice to find solid ‘za with solid, savory sauce. Delivery is easy. Do it.
