Such huge portions for a small! My husband had a peanut butter and chocolate shake which was really, really sweet. He had to get a cup of water in order to finish slightly more than half of a small size. I had a small concrete mixed with cheesecake and oreos. I like that it wasn’t too sweet, but I felt the depth and richness of the custard wasn’t as developed as the frozen custard at Scooter’s on the north side. Nonetheless, it’s delicious and I’ll probably come back since location is very convenient.

I was looking to waste some time before getting a ride home near the fountain and decided to trust my smart phone to guide me to ice cream. It took me a while to figure out how to get to Andy’s custard. I eventually asked someone that had ice cream in their hand. Its at the bottom of an escalator. The service was very quick. I ordered a chocolate concrete with peanut butter cups. It was very good, but it could have done with more peanut butter. I was kicking myself all the way back for not getting additional peanut butter as another topping. It was still very refreshing and more decadent than ice cream. For about 4 $, you get a nice bit of ice cream. Not perfect, but pretty good.

You had me at mint. Lame, I know. But seriously, I’m all about anything mint when it comes to cold treats. I’m also all about eating cold stuff(ice cream, ice coffee, etc.) even when it’s 6 degrees out. Yes, 6, at least according to my Weather Channel app on my phone. And hey, there wasn’t a line. So there… Now where was I? Oh right… back to the mint chip concrete. It was rich, creamy, and plentiful. I actually couldn’t finish in one sitting. Whaaat? Yup. I took the rest back to work with me. Would I go back? Yes. There were other items I definitely want to try no matter what the temperature is outside.

Rich, thick, dense. That’s how I like my men. Just joking. No seriously, nobody likes a fat dummy. How redundant of me anyway. This review isn’t winning me any ROTD’s but the custard and concretes here are delightful. It’s rich, super dense, so good and satisfying even on a cold Chicago day. I get their regular frozen custards and their choco roco concretes minus the nuts. Their small concretes can easily be shared by 2 people. It’s winter, we’re in the midwest– it’s okay to let yourself go a little I always say and just get fat. FAT. We’re all wearing ugly puffy winter coats anyway. You can also watch their frozen custard being made. Fattie tip: Right by my other mall favorite– auntie anne’s.

Even if it’s 50 degrees, it didn’t stop me from enjoying my frozen custard. I got the cookies and cream flavored and i thought it there was a party in my mouth. It was so creamy and it was so rich and thick. it was honestly hard finishing it. The cup size they give you is pretty big. It’s nice to take this and have a walk around the park, that way you can slowly enjoy it. My friend and i took forever looking for this place, we crossed streets, back and forth and up and down. I was about to call them to ask where they were located. However, on google and Unilocal it doesn’t tell you that this place is inside the mall. So don’t miss it.

I was given a coupon for a free cone(that doesn’t expire) about a month ago so I used it yesterday; They ask you which flavor you prefer(chocolate, vanilla, or both) and I got both. They scooped 2 good sized scoops on my cone and sent me on my way. The staff was very very friendly. The vanilla and chocolate custard was so rich and creamy. It definitely hit the spot and was a total deal! I didn’t get to experience the different flavors and combinations they had to offer, though. I want to come back and try all the yummy things they advertise(cherry, mint, etc.) YUM!

Two warm, springlike days in row prompted me to take a stroll over to Block 37 and indulge in some frozen custard. Yesterday I tried the chocolate. The chocolate is smooth and rich, almost like a frozen chocolate pudding. Me likey. Today I wanted vanilla and was somewhat surprised that I was given a cup of green custard. Thinking they had given me mint or something horrific like pistachio, I tried to protest. Turns out that in the spirit of St. Pat’s Day, the little leprechauns at Andy’s came in last night under the cover of darkness and dyed the vanilla custard a shade of green. I was glad it still tasted like vanilla. I do not like to eat things that are that particular shade of green, but when in Dublin… The vanilla was great too. It had a nice aftertaste that lingered pleasantly on my tongue. A small cup or cone(two small scoops) is plenty to satisfy my sweet tooth, and it only costs $ 2.29. That is crazy cheap if you ask me. The employees were a most friendly bunch. That always earns a place extra points in my book. Okay, so it’s not quite Scooter’s, but it’s still pretty effin’ good.

The first and only time I’ve had frozen custard was at Scooters. However, Scooter’s is a bit too far for me for a return visit, so I was happy to hear that Andy’s Frozen Custard was located downtown! We tried the vanilla custard. The small size was more than plenty for each of us! Big portions! The frozen custard was creamy, thick and less watery and liquidity than ice cream. It was very smooth and delicious! Is cheap too at about $ 2.50 for a small. I am definitely coming back! FYI, Its located in the Block 37 mall on the pedway level.
