Axelle + Ivy Salon

Krystle is seriously amazing! It has been so long since I have actually liked my hair, but since she did my hair yesterday I can’t stop looking in the mirror. She really listened to what I wanted, and gave me the beautiful blended balayage highlights I wanted. I love my hair cut too. As someone who has been trying to grow my hair out for years, it’s always really annoying when a stylist cuts a lot off when I ask for a trim, but this was not one of those times. Krystle took all those pesky split ends off, and the difference in my length is barely noticeable. It was my first time at Axelle + Ivy, but it definitely won’t be my last.
The salon has a great atmosphere. The modern interior is so beautiful and elegant! Everything is super clean, and all the girls are so nice. I especially liked the long table of assorted magazines that you can sit at and browse while your hair color processes.

This is THE only place I will go to for color in the city of Chicago. Marla is hands down the best colorist (especially for blondes). I trust her recommendations and I always leave with beautiful, natural looking color. I highly suggest giving her a try, you won’t be disappointed! Aside from the talent here, the salon is beautifully decorated and clean. It is hard to get to via public transit for me, but I generally don’t have problems finding a parking spot.

I’m a dude and unfortunately I relate to George’s lament far too well.
So what am I doing going to a salon and not a cheap barber shop? One word: Tanya. I have been getting my hair cut by Tanya for about 3 years now. She’s nice, cool, fun and makes getting a haircut seem like a day at Six Flags, but without the long lines, crappy food or long drive to Gurnee. Ok, in retrospect, getting a haircut is nothing like Six Flags, but getting a haircut from Tanya is still like riding a roller coaster, but without the queasy feeling that you can get, especially if you’ve had a lousy hot dog. And you don’t get to go upside down either. And no rickety tracks. Eff. just trust me, Tanya is good.
Note: it is generally pretty easy to find parking around the area.

Ashley Brown is the best there is. She’s incredibly talented and has gotten to the point where I come in and she tells me what she’s doing. I trust her and in 5 years have never been disappointed! I recommend everyone I know and they always rave about her too! This salon is chic and has the best products. The staff is friendly and their customer service is top notch!

I have been seeing Tanya for several years now, and she does an amazing job! Axelle+Ivy salon has a great vibe and décor! Tanya is always professional and understands what color and cut I want for my hair. Her execution is always right on, and she gives great recommendations! My color has never looked better! I even started bringing my toddler in to see Tanya, and she is always patient and gives him a great cut. I would highly recommend Tanya!

Axellle + Ivy Salon may have just opened up in August of 2014, but I’ve been seeing Krystle for YEARS. Seriously. She’s the longest relationship that I’ve had with a stylist ever. I think it’s been at least since like 2007ish. Maybe before. I can’t remember that far back…
She cuts and styles my hair effortlessly. So much so that when it grows out, it still looks great. While I typically get my hair just cut, I’ve had it colored a few times, and it looks beautifully natural. I have thick hair, and taming it sometimes is less than fun. Krystle listens to what I want, and will throw in suggestions as to what would look better (let’s face it, I have no clue what I’m looking for when I get my hair cut.). Thanks to her, she even encouraged me to grow my hair out, and I receive many compliments on it (but short was SO MUCH EASIER! :-)).
The new salon is bright, and the crystal chandeliers are an added bonus to brighten up your day! Super easy to get to as the El stop is literally right there, but come a bit early, as street parking can be tough, especially earlier in the day.
It’s easy to make appointments through the genbook site, and it even sends you email and text reminders!
