Went here for brunch and it couldn’t have gone better. Short wait was still accompanied with a fresh and delicious coffee station. Love the BYOB, makes the whole experience much more affordable, and they are quick to open up your bottle and provide glasses. Food was exactly what you would hope for in an easy-going, comforting brunch with a wide, but not overbearing selection. Their fruit was incredibly fresh too. Overall, I would highly suggest this place, but also because of the short wait and fear that good reviews will increase that wait time, I don’t. But that’s just me being selfish…

I went after church on Sunday at 11:30am and the wait was minimal. I ordered a large, nonfat vanilla latte and took just a few sips before being called to our table. The large wasn’t your Starbucks 20 oz. I guess it was large if we were in Europe. It was very very good though. Like I’d stop in just for the latte, good. They recently added a new item to the menu. It was listed on the«specials» card and on the menu(not yet shown on the one online). It’s called the Spicy Chicken Fajita Bowl and that’s what I ordered with two eggs(extra charge). You know how you just can’t wait to eat so you grab a small taste before your napkin is even properly placed on your lap? Man… I did that and literally stopped chewing like whoa, that’s delicious!!! There was so much flavor going on in the small bite which I think only consisted of a potato cube. It didn’t even have all the goodness mixed together yet. I made my friend try it immediately and he agreed. It was a good sized portion and I ate about half of it, got a to go box and ate the rest of it later that day. It was just as good as leftovers. Seriously, I have not one complaint. Yummmm!

This is by far my favorite place to eat breakfast in Chicago. The flight of bacon is great and the chilaquiles are my favorite thing to order. Service has been great every time I’ve been here.

Walking in, this place seems very cool. Then I met the staff and then my happiness reduced. Our waitress seemed bothered by something and was curt with us. She even spilled coffee on my dad and didn’t say anything. As for the food, we had to wait about 30 minutes and the place was not that busy. When it finally arrived, the presentation was awesome. The flavors were just okay for all that we ordered with the exception of my dad’s order of bread pudding French toast. They use three different kinds of croissants to make it. I recommend ordering the half order because they are thick and filling! I do not recommend the steak and eggs. My boyfriend is not picky and he didn’t enjoy it. It comes with potatoes but very little. Overall, I would not go back to this place based on the service and flavors but if you do go, get the bread pudding French toast.

Pretty great breakfast spot! My husband especially loved it. Cute décor. I’d call it farm chic. Prices are fair for the large portions and there was barely any wait to be seated. We ordered the southwestern frittata, corned beef hash, and the breadpudding French toast. My husband LOVED the frittata, it was fluffy, tasty and big. Came with toast, bacon and potatoes. My corned beef hash was a little too salty but overall good. Not the BEST I’ve ever had but definitely the second best. The bread pudding was the award winner today! It was amazing and different. Soaked in a sauce that I can barely described it was a great sweet breakfast option. My husband was thoroughly happy with breakfast this afternoon.

Amazing food and wonderful coffee with great service. I liked it so much that I came back two more times while on vacation. Loved the Oatmeal Latte and the Pumpkin Latte! The food was delicious too! I had the SLT(salmon, lettuce & tomato) and split the Croissant Bread pudding French toast with my friend. The SLT was very good but much too messy to eat as a sandwich. I’m very happy we split the french toast as it was very rich, after one slice I was done. It was amazingly delicious though! Big note… pay attention to the hours as they close early since they’re just open for breakfast & lunch.

Good food, exceptional coffee, fast service. Include a cute bakery! Great place to take the family. Isn’t the best brunch place in Chicago, but a must try! If your a bacon fanatic this is your place. Must try the Oatmeal Latte, comes with shortbread cookies.

I have come here a few times for brunch over the past few months and love it! The Southern Bowl and Biscuits and Gravy are favorites– they use rosemary biscuits and a half order is plenty if you aren’t super hungry. I wasn’t wild about the grits– a little peppery for me. I tried the triple berry pancakes too and they had a yummy lemon sauce and used fresh berries inside too! There is also a Lovely bakery connected for sweets and coffee. The staff is great, and it is very family friendly too. Overall, I would recommend!

Visited a few days ago. Terrible place to eat. Bad service with food nothing special. I had Chorizo frittatas, and it was definitely not worth the money or waiting. My friend had waffle with bacon and she didn’t even finish half of it. I double checked my order with the server because it took more than 30 minutes, and she said it was on the way. But after about 20 minutes, she said the order was not placed correctly and I had to wait another half an hour.

Really loved this place! I’ve lived a few blocks away for over a year and can’t believe it’s taken me this long to try it! Went on a Friday morning with a friend visiting town and was nice to go on a weekday as there was no wait at all. There were a good number of people in there though so still a nice atmosphere. Service was also quick and attentive. Looking at their menu, I had a hard time deciding because there were a number of dishes that sounded really good, which is always a good sign. I opted for the southwestern frittata and loved it. It has their jalapeño bacon in there which was really good and added a bit of spice. Also pretty good value as it comes with two sides, so I got the potatoes and the fruit. The potatoes were so good, just really great seasoning and crisped up on the outside. This place also appears to be associated with a bakery, so they have a case up front with all sorts of baked goods that looked really good, but we were too full to anything else. I’ll definitely be back!

The food looked appetizing, but I would not be able to tell you due to the poor service of the hostess. I put my name down for a table for two and was told there would be a 30 minute wait. Fine. My friend and I sat at the bar and ordered a coffee. An hour later I asked the hostess about our table. I was informed that she called our name 3 times a half an hour ago. I said that I had been sitting five feet away the whole time and never heard her call our name. She was completely unapologetic and said she could be put our name back on the list to wait another half hour. Terrible service.

I loved the food here and the ambience was good — it would have been a 5 star review though if it weren’t for the fact that the server that day absolutely HATED her life and thus our service was lousy. But I’ll come back to that. We stopped by on a Sunday for brunch, so of course there was going to be a wait. However, it wasn’t too bad and the hostess was kind enough to let us know our table was ready, they were just waiting for the folks at it to leave. We were told a 45 minute wait and got in at the 30 min mark instead — score! The space there is HUGE and they’ve done a marvelous job of not crunching people in. They easily could probably seat another 15 folks in there, but they leave plenty of room between tables for folks to get around and not be cheek to jowl. There is a large coffee bar immediately off the entrance that was nice, and a small indoors waiting area there. The only downside of the huge space is that its very very loud when its busy — there were a few points during a conversation where it was a struggle to hear the dining companions I was with across the table. Not much to be done about it, but if you want a quiet brunch, I’d recommend you go elsewhere. Foodwise, everything tasted good — the only thing i’d give a «meh» to was the bacon flight. It was good quality bacon, but honestly of the different flavors we tasted, the only one we could sort of pick out was the jalepeno. The rest all kind of tasted the same. All that aside, 2 of the folks I was with ordered an Oatmeal Latte(or something of the like) — normally I’m not a huge latte fan but WHOA, it was worth the 5 $ price tag. Its huge AND comes with lovely cookies to dunk in it. It would have been nice if the server had brought our hot drinks out at the same time though — we got our regular coffee and oj within about 10 minutes of ordering it but the lattes showed up a good 25 minutes after we ordered them. I don’t know if she forgot to put in the order for 2 drinks or what, but the barrista made only one of the 2 oatmeal lattes we ordered and it was left for a good 20 min before the other one was done and both were brought to us — thus, one was hot and one came out nearly cold. All the rest of the food we had was lovely — chilequiles, banana bread french toast, oatmeal(get the small — its still HUGE) — but the timing of the food was incredibly uneven which really comes down to staffing. So, the drinks came out incredibly poorly timed, then the eggs and fruit cup we ordered for the toddler with us came out at least 25 minutes after we ordered them — normally I’d not really care but these are very simple things to make, so I’m not sure what the delay was. As for our server, to put it bluntly she was lousy. From the start, it was apparent she either really didn’t want to be there or didn’t want to be there serving us — I get having a bad day, but she didn’t even attempt to hide it. Once we were served, she basically blew off the table the rest of the time we were there — one of the members in our group works as a server and even he said the behavior and extremely poor timing of everything was beyond what is to be expected. In the least, an apology for a cold latte would have been nice. I’d go back here again but maybe at a quieter time — everything but the service was great, and hopefully that was just a one off!

First time and it was delicious. Complimentary coffee and fresh baked goods while you wait was the extra added feature while you wait. Fresh seasoned grits, perfect eggs and delicious potatoes. A Lincoln Park Gem

This has become my go-to breakfast/brunch spot in my neighborhood. I’m here almost once a week now. I’ve had most of their menu and like both the sweet and savory items. Lately I’ve been having more of the sweet– I really like the Buttermilk Pancakes, Triple Berry Pancakes and the Banana Bread French Toast. The homemade jam is delicious, coffee plentiful and service quick. My husband always orders the Biscuit Sandwich and loves it. Families with young kids make up the majority of the patrons here so it’s loud.

Four stars for the food, the service leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We had a 30minute wait for brunch on Sunday which was reasonable. Free coffee and water while you wait is a nice touch. Price are average we had coffee, two orange juices, steak and eggs and eggs your way for 50.00.

Went to Bakin’ & Eggs with a group of 6 on an early Saturday afternoon Warning: this place does get VERY busy during weekend brunch hours and doesn’t have a ton of seating. We went around 1 pm on Sat and were able to get seated right away so that might be the best time to go! The bulk of my 5 star rating comes from the southern comfort bowl I ordered. Dang was that good! Essentially biscuits and gravy with eggs on top and potatoes on bottom. And I added jalapeño bacon. Walked outta there on a protein infused Cloud 9. Other suggestions: the berry pancakes looked delicious and the chorizo frittata was really good too! Service is solid and the restaurant is always clean and well kept. Grab a muffin or donut at the counter on your way out! Great brunch place!

I came here a couple of months ago on a Sunday around 11am. There was quite a bit of a wait — the seating area is not too large. But that’s how Sundays at brunch restaurant usually are. Once seated, our server came over fast. Very nice guy with tattoos. I love when restaurants let their servers be who they are and not hide it! Always warms my heart. I ordered an omelet that had mushrooms and other vegetables in with — topped with goats cheese. I substituted egg whites in place of the eggs. With fruit, multigrain/granola pancakes, and toast. ITWASDIVINE. Cooked well. Amazing flavors. Not only were the pancakes multigrain, but they had had granola INTHEM. Thoroughly enjoyed my whole meal — The coffee was also excellent. My roommate got something that he loved, too, although I can’t remember what he got. He got potatoes on the side, which I took a few bites of. Crisp yet soft on the inside. Great service. Delicious food. Will definitely be returning to this spot!

I went with my family on a week day morning and had a great experience. All three of us ordered things we loved and still had some to take home. The service was efficient and my coffee was always full. That part can make or break brunch in my opinion. We ordered a side of grits to go with the sides of our meal(bacon, potatoes, fruit) and all shared them. Yum! I have been here before and didn’t love every minute of it like I did this day, but still was good enough to go back. This day they were on and I will be back to see if it can be this amazing again soon!

I was expecting Bakin’ and Eggs to be a lil mom and pop just based on the name. It’s a lot more slick than that and TONS of seating. I went on my own during the week and was glad to find that they’re actually related to lovely a bake shop where I had gotten a chocolate chip and bacon cookie once! I got one on the way out and saved it for later cause i was STUFFED after eating here. I ordered the BLT(no L no T) breakfast sandwich and made other modifications but the waiter wasn’t visibly annoyed that I basically built my own breakfast sandwich. Walnut and Basil pesto mayo was delicious! I loved it. I got the house potatoes AND a side of cheese grits but I wasn’t too happy with the cheese grits. Just bland AF. The weekday menu has a lot of great options and I will be back to try something sweet off the menu. The weekend menu has biscuits and gravy which I’d REALLY be interested in trying. The bakery inside has a TON of great sweets too.

We had planned to go to batter and berries but were quoted a 90 minute wait, so plans changed. My helpful Unilocal app reminded me that bakin & eggs was in the area so we gave it another try. At 10:45am there was a 15 min wait. Much better! I started with a caramel apple cider that just did not work, but the server was really sweet about taking it back. I swapped it for a chai latte that was more enjoyable. My meal was the southern comfort bowl(biscuit, chicken-apple gravy, cheese and two eggs) with honey smoked bacon. It’s one of the more hearty and satisfying breakfasts I’ve had in a while. I don’t know if I fully appreciated just how good the bacon is in my earlier visits. It was perfectly cooked, and everything really complimented one another. My friend had the asparagus frittata and I’m told it was excellent.
