We had a wonderful evening at Boho! There were 4 of us. Started at the bar. It’s a wonderful atmosphere with a gracious and welcoming team of service providers. Definitely try one of the craft cocktails… I had the«Infused Fashion». My dinner was excellent with generous portions. I had the Slow Roasted Beets as a starter and the Chicken Paprikash, both excellent! The boys both had the Kielbasa starter and the Schnitzel… Boys! Neither could finish their delicious dinners!

In town with 4 others for NeoCon and found this amazing restaurant. Didn’t have reservations so got our name on he list, sat at bar and had their Bourbon Mule, shared the Hungarian Langos(fried potato bread, sour cream, Gouda and dill) delicious! Wonderful potato flavor, just enough toppings to be flavorful, but not over powering. Seated within 30 mins, and we each ordered a different entrée so we could share… Atlantic Halibut, Spaetzle, Chicken Paprikash, Pork Schnitzle. All were flavorful and yummy, hot, & beautifully presented. Of course we saved room to share a dessert; strawberry Paczki, Polish doughnut topped with crème fraîche, strawberries, lemon poppyseed sorbet… wish I’d ordered my own! Will definitely go back when in Chicago!

Brilliant place. Found it for the first time tonight and had an absolutely amazing Chicken Paprikash and an aged cocktail that was nicely flavorful. Good friendly staff at the bar and a really nice space. Definitely will come back again.

I have done the dinner and brunch thing here. Both have been extremely remarkable. On the brunch side of things, the pancakes along with a potato pancake will set you free. As far as dinner goes, everything is stellar. It’s probably best to grab a seat by the front windows if it is a nice day. It just makes for a better experience. I am really happy to see a restaurant like this in the River North area. It brings a lot of joy to my heart.

Wow, this place was amazing. I had no expectations — I’ve actually never heard of the place before my friend, visiting town on a project, had called me randomly in the afternoon asking if I had dinner plans(I did not, I don’t have friends). She offered to let me join her reservation for 2 at Boho(which she booked because 1 is a lonely number). It was an easy decision to make. The restaurant is rather close to the House of Blues/Marina towers where her hotel was, and we walked over after meeting up. The giant door leads to a stairwell into the restaurants. You feel as if you are invading someone’s apartment stairwell and I can imagine it gets crowded if a big party leaves the restaurant at the same time. Getting the door open wasn’t an easy task either. In the restaurant, are you immediately greeted by a podium, noise and heraty atmosphere. We were taken to our seats immediately — one chair and one seat among a long bench. The bench ran along the wall and accompanied many table. The seating was intimate but not intrusive. I will say that I could clearly tell you what our neighbors ordered. The menu is small but we decided to share two items: a starter and an entrée. We got the Beef Cheek Pierogi and Chicken Paprikash. The Pierogis were good but only came with four pieces. It felt more like something you might want to have for yourself rather than share. I would recommend getting two orders just because the portions for an appetizer felt minuscule. The taste was good though. I had no idea what to expect with the Chicken Paprikash but it was excellent! The chicken was delicious and moist, the sauce was perfectly done. tried my best to leave some for my friend — I desperately wanted to keep the entire meal for myself, it was that good! I would have liked more vegetables with the protein but the potatoes served as a good side, even though it tasted more like a thick rice noodle than a potato. Nonetheless, we devoured both dishes in record time. For dessert, we got the Paczki. It was well done, not too sweet or filling. It was a good contrast to the taste we had during the meal. Again, I would suggest getting your own serving if you like desserts because sharing one was kind of a struggle. Afterwards, we sat and talked for a while — having our water refilled multiple times. I’m sure we overstayed our welcome but it never felt that way and the wait staff was still really attentive and constantly refilled our water jug. There was never pressure to pay nor to get out despite it filling up on a relatively mundane Monday. Great place! I need to come back and try more dishes.

The ambiance and décor really set the scene here I rarely comment on the environment of a restaurant, preferring to judge it on its food, drinks, and service, but this time I’m commenting — really fun environment to step into. To drink we had some German beers and they hit the spot, I was surprised that the tap list wasn’t that extensive, but it was more then sufficient and it had a type of beer for everyone’s tastes. To eat we had the Hanger Steak and and Butcher’s Goulash — both we’re very well done and we enjoyed a lot. With that being said though, I felt like the prices where a little steep for what we were getting, I expect to be blow away by 3 $$$ restaurants — but I did enjoy myself.

We had a wonderful meal at Boho. The space was absolutely beautiful and the food delicious. I had a chicken liver toast with strawberry preserves and pistachios that was one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever had the pleasure of eating. My husband is a schnitzel aficionado and really enjoyed the Boho rendition. Highly recommend! Make a reservation!

Our party of 6 was seated fairly quickly at 7:30 on a Monday night at the long high table in front of the bar. Since we’d had drinks and apps elsewhere before hand, we focused on the mains. Our group got mostly butcher’s goulash and chicken paprikash, with one halibut. Mains did take a while, but we enjoyed the Czechvar beer in the mean time. Atmosphere is comfy and cozy, mismatched plates and such. The chicken paprikash was quite good — the sauce was amazing — spicy without being terribly hot, served at the right temperature. The chicken was juicy and tender. I didn’t like the Czech potato dumplings as they were quite dense and cold. I did enjoy the shredded sweet peppers atop the chicken. The goulash went over well with the group — all 3 plates were clean, as was the halibut plate was empty. All in all a pleasant and homey experience.

Absolutely Love this place! Each dish was executed perfectly and the flavors stayed true to the authentic cuisine. Started with the Beef Cheek Pierogi and Duck Dumplings. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and full of flavor that really transported me to this side of Europe. Had the Goulash for the main which was also very flavorful, the red cabbage was to die for. An amazing meal, wonderful ambience, and excellent service.

Walking into this place felt like walking into someone’s dining room in Austria or Germany(or how I’d imagine that would be like since I haven’t been!). It’s easy to miss with the low key entrance, but the inside is ornately decorated. Hubby had already been for after work drinks and dinner during which one of his coworkers who is actually from Austria praised how authentic the food was. We finally gave it a try on an early Wednesday night after work. They seated us in one of the front tables that had high stools. The available high chairs were a little lower than the actual table, making it a little challenging feeding the wee one so we took turns holding her on our lap to give her a break from the chair so she could actually see everyone at the table! The food was amazing. I’m glad we did it family style we were able to try several dishes among the 3 of us adults. We started with the Beef Cheek Pierogi which I think were 3−4/order. The meat was so tasty! Then we split the Pork Schnitzel, the Spatzle, the Chicken Paprikash, and the Pork Shank(special of the night, which was popular since there was only 1 left after we ordered). The chicken was very moist and flavorful, but I didn’t really care for the accompanying potato dumplings. We devoured the Pork Schnitzel. The Pork Shank was almost bigger than our 9.5 month old baby. When it arrived the people sitting at the neighboring table gasped in surprised. The meat was so tender and delicious. We had so much food for 3 adults and enough for all of us to take home leftovers; they were just as good the next day, if not better. Even though we were all full, I forced everyone to split the Dark Chocolate Custard for dessert. When I mean split, I meant take a spoonful while I inhaled the rest because it was so good. Service was great! Our server was patient while we decided on what we wanted to try. She also gave great recommendations in terms of dish combinations and ensuring we ordered a good portion and sampling of the menu.

I’m still dreaming about the Langos. Literally, I dreamt about Boho House’s langos(fried potato bread, garlic sour cream, aged gouda & sour dill pickle). What can I say, carbs are magical and the Hungarian Langos are the grand wizard. Beyond the incredible Hungarian crazy bread, Boho house is wonderful in so many other ways, too… The décor: Is cozy and beautiful with warm wood tones, tons of lovely light fixtures and an overall beautiful ease to it. The staff: Was on point for our large group(25 people) and even though I could tell the kitchen was getting backed up at times, they did their best to accommodate and delight. The food: The Langos was the starter star, but I also loved the slow roasted beets and beef cheek pierogi. All three starters were so flavorful! For entrees, the spatzle wasn’t traditional but it was chock full of fun with mushrooms, broccoli, caramelized onions and emmentaler cheese. Yes, cheese. The halibut was nice and light(perfectly cooked) and the chicken paprikash was super bold. For dessert, the apple strudel was solid but the paczki was phenomenal(banana Bavarian cream, peanut butter mousse, candied peanuts and double chocolate ice cream). Boom. In a sea of upscale Italian and steakhouses, Bohemian House is a breath of fresh air. I could absolutely crave the food and ambiance on the regular. And the Langos, obviously!

Went for brunch. The décor was beautiful and service was great! Food was good, but it didn’t blow me away. That might have been because german food was a weird brunch food to have. I wouldn’t go back. I’m more of an eggs breakfast kind of person.

I came here with my wife and a good friend of ours who was also interviewing for a job here in Chicago. So, my company was paying for this. That’s a great way to go into any meal! The appetizer: okay, honestly, I arrived late and missed this. But by all accounts, it was awesome. I will NOT be late for the appetizer the next time. The main course: I had the halibut. I know, not exactly German traditional. But I grew up in Alaska, and when I came it here it was halibut season, plus, so I had to give it a try. Plus, company paying for it so why not? The halibut was perfectly cooked — tender and flaky and perfect. The sauce was amazing and everything that came with it was great. My only complaint — not enough of the dumplings with it. But damn, this was good. And I tried a couple of other dishes, including the chicken paprikash. Amazing! The beer and wine list is very nice. I won’t say«impressive» but very nice. Plenty of things to choose from and they are happy to help you decide. And for beers, both local and imported beers make for a nice set of options. As for the desert, ok, it’s seriously off the hook. I had the donut with peanut butter mousse and like 5 other things I can’t remember. Manly because I was slipping wonderfully into a food coma at this point. But I vividly remember the desert and how I savored it with my glass of delicious prosecco. Bohemian House deserves all the praise it gets. Seriously, you have to try it. Just be ready for a nap afterwards.

I saw Bohemian House on the Michelin bib gourmand list and it was also conveniently located only 5 minutes from my hotel, so it was a must-visit on my list of places to eat during my recent trip to Chicago. My friend and I were able to easily make a reservation for a Saturday morning and the restaurant was only about ¼ full when we arrived. I ordered the butcher’s goulash as my entrée and the potato pancake as a side. The goulash was a savory stew with knackwurst(sausage), beef shank, poached egg, and rye toast. The beef shank was super tender. The potato pancake was also delicious, and on the sweet side. Aside from the yummy food, I loved the restaurant’s interior. It’s a giant space with some beautiful rustic décor — wooden tables, blue glass bottles as vases, ornate shelves behind the bar to keep all the bottles on. The fact that it was quiet on a Saturday morning was also a big plus for me. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Bohemian House for brunch.

Brought the polish /German husband here for his birthday. Seemed to fit! This place has food very different from everything else in River North which is kind of nice! We started with some cocktails; the old fashioned one(it had a different name) and I had a vodka martini. Both were good but they don’t have blue cheese olives. That’s easy to stock and our waitress totally felt bad because it gets requested so much. Speaking of our waitress, she was excellent. Super knowledgable and nice. Even brought the husband a birthday dessert. We had the beef cheek pierogis(OMG), potato pancakes(good), pork schnitzel, and the goulash. Faves were the pierogis and schnitzel! Rather enjoyable and different food! Nice décor too.

Stunned. How could a restaurant take the food of my home country, the kind of stuff grandma used to make, and elevate it to these heights? Well, Bohemian House does this and more. I had a birthday celebration dinner here with friends. The four of us could only get an early Sunday reservation because this place is so popular. The mood is a contemporary reinterpretation of eastern European with long tables, cozy booths, and separate tables for two to four. Service was friendly and professional. The food, however, was AMAZING. The flavors and complexity of the recipes were like no Czech food I’ve ever had. The palate is rich, but the execution is actually light enough to not feel like you just ate a bag of potatoes. Thre drinks were interesting, nice takes on an artisanal Czech thing with beer foam finishes or Becherovka liqueur as an ingredient. All in all, I would say that the drinks left just a bit to be desired; but mind you, I had just had a drink and a half at Broken Shaker around the corner, and that’s probably one of the toughest acts to follow I can imagine. They have a take on a Moscow mule with grilled rosemary that had a better execution with the second drink, according to my friend. The beer list is pretty impressive. I liked the options, but honestly, the prices which start at about $ 10 for a draft were a little steep. The food shined. We had four appetizers. All were delicious, but the chicken livers were silky and crazy delicious with the hazelnuts and plums. Also, the fried potato bread with fresh grated gouda was amazing. Beef cheek pierogi were also tasty and hearty, and the rye bread crumbs with the soft boiled egg on the brussels sprouts salad transformed them to far above average. I had the goulash with the blood sausage and braised beef. Wow. So hearty and rich! The cloud like Czech bread dumpling was nothing like grandma used to make. Sorry grandma, this Greek executive chef just showed you up in the knedlicky department! The sauce was almost like a beefy barbecue sauce. The other star was the Spaetzle entrée with hen of the woods mushrooms and emmenthaler cheese. This was fantastic. Two of our diners had the duck breast, and the portion was hearty. They liked it but didn’t rave about it like we did with the goulash and spaetzle. We got a free dessert because it was my birthday. The coffee ice cream and fresh donuts were really good, rolled in cinnamon sugar. The dark chocolate custard, however, was amazingly rich and good. We all shared. This place isn’t exactly cheap. Dinner for for with drinks and tip was about $ 350. It was my birthday, however, and I’m super impressed. I’ll go back when they switch up the menu.

Excellent balanced flavor, ingredients, portion and value. SCHNITZELSANDWICH($ 19) — the thickest schnitzel I have ever seen. Emmentaler cheese gives an edge. You may have to scrape the layer of mustard seeds. I don’t like rye bread in general, but all the ingredients perfectly complement each other. Serves 2. CHICKENPAPRIKASH($ 27) — Serves 2. The hearty firm dumpling was scarce at 3 pcs with a skinny half chicken that I hoped is organic. The perfectly crispy skin took second place to the moist and tender chicken meat coated with flavorful sauce. APRICOTKOLACKY($ 8) — slightly burnt, each buttery piece at $ 2.50 each is very aromatic in every bite. DOUGHNUTS($ 9) — unique prune marmalade. Just right texture. At $ 2.25 each, 1 – 2 bites per serving, enjoy it! Reheats well. COFFEE($ 3, bottomless) — clean brew of dark roast Bow Truss brand. Great as black with brown sugar when hot. I love the unique milk and sugar container. SERVICE — Allison showed 5-star service and grace. Water glasses were promptly refilled. Even though lunch service ended at 2, we were encouraged to stay. How sweet! BUDGET-FRIENDLY — For 2, share an entrée with a side, appetizer and/or dessert. No brown bag. I hope this technique would keep expense down to $ 30 pp. Otherwise, prepare to spend $ 50+ pp with brown bag. Booze at your expense. LOL

Love, love, love this place. I made reservations for Valentines Day the second I saw them on Check Please and they did not disappoint. We had the tartare, schnitzel, kolacky, and doughnuts for dessert and everything was amazing! Sidenote for the schnitzel puritans: make sure to order the«toppings» on the side. Impressive beer and cocktail list(quality, not quantity.) We can’t WAIT to come back. This spot has renewed our faith in Chicago eateries.

Well… I was told this place was very good and I can confirm that the rumor was true. Me and some friends came over for restaurant week as the menu look pretty interesting, not to mention that I am a fan of Czech food. When I walked in I noticed a couch at the entrance to wait for my group as I am usually the first to arrive. I sat down and waited and took in the décor as its quite rustic and setup very nice. Once my group made it, we were seated by a lovely young lady by the name of Allison. I started out with the sauerkraut soup which was amazing and I dont always throw that term around. The flavor was kick ass and I wanted a 2nd bowl lol. My second course was the Chicken Weisswurst in which we were told its not on the regular menu. It came with dill potatoes, lingonberry jam, pecans and kohlrabi-apple slaw… definitely delicious and filling as the weisswurst was pretty big. My dessert was the apricot kolacky… I’ve never had a kalacky before but it was pretty good. My friend got the 2 doughnut balls and let me have 1. I trickled the currant marmalade on top of the doughnut and swished it around the bavarian crème… made for a good extra snack. I’m glad I tried for restaurant week as this is a place I will definitely return… plus its less than a 10 minute walk from the job.
