Staff is Phenomenal. Resident’s not so much. Be Careful placing your elderly in Brookdale. I find it very clicky and some resident’s just down rude & mean to residents that might have Dementia, Alzheimer’s etc. Everyone has their dining spot, and Bridge friends & don’t like if someone want’s to join their” Click” Ever seen the movie«Mean Girls» This is it 100%. If your to slow moving getting on & off the elevator residents get upset. This was my observation while my Mom was here. We moved here to another home and she is much more Happy now. Otherwise I have no complaints. Food is pretty good and facility is clean and well kept. Lot’s of activities if you aren’t made to feel like an outsider. I also want to note, when I complained to the staff about certain very large lady with bright red hair, who is basically the«Bully» of Brookdale they knew exactly whom I was talking about and didn’t seem to want to remedy the situation. Just kind of «Deal with it Attitude» UNACCEPTABLE!!! You should be living out your golden years Happy, not dealing with BS like this. Tough ones will survive & the weak not so much. As Norm on Cheers once said. «It’s a Dog eat Dog world & I’m wearing milk bone underwear.

This retirement community is formerly known as «The Kenwood.» The corporate owners have changed the name to Brookdale Plaza. I am writing this not as a direct customer(which could happen anytime as I approach my «late middle years,») but for now suffice to say I’ve had lots and lots of interaction with staff here in the past few years, visiting and working with an elderly friend who just passed away at the age of 89. A guy without close family or friends to provide him with daily communication or company, who depended on the staff here for his quality of life in assisted living. They were more than successful in this regard. And while I am always skeptical of the way Americans talk about co-workers or others as family, these people at Brookdale really were my friend’s family as far as day-to-day care goes. I have a lot of experience in working with long term and retirement facilities, and also with senior care, so I have a lot of places to compare with Brookdale. Generally, I would always steer people or family to the smaller facilities vs. the corporate ones. But I would recommend anyone to Brookdale. And while it’s not a perfect place, and sometimes there needed to be a little hounding to get things or services, the staff here distinguishes itself in one regard. They are people who can execute on a professional level, and yet still maintain their humanity and compassion and thoughtfulness, a quality often elusive in today’s healthcare environment. I personally appreciated the fact that they helped me help my friend get things he needed, go on outings by providing free indoor parking for friends. and just being flexible about everything. And they are genuinely friendly, and so respectful to the residents. And most importantly, their food is good. As my friend would have replied when I asked him how he felt: «There’s nothing wrong with my appetite.» They took care of that appetite and then some. They gave a wonderful old gentleman a good home.
