Burrito King

Terrible service! My boyfriend got physically ill from one of their chicken tacos, and not only did they laugh at me for asking for a small compensation, they hung up on me! Never again!

This lovely hidden spot is always open when you need a good taco dinner. Good food and great prices. It’s a yum yum! Open til the weee hrs of the morning.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Chicago. I live a block away from here and I usually stop by once a week or so. The food is standard Mexican but it’s so good. Comfort food at it’s best. Quick service, very nice people, huge portions, and amazing horchata.

I used to eat here a lot when I lived nearby. The food is awesome for those of you who love to drink. The place is open all of the time. You can get your greasy food on after a day of drinking at the bar that is nearby. This place has burritos that are huge. The people are friendly and you get served promptly. The prices are cheap. I say, after a big day of drinking at the divy bar nearby, go eat some Burrito King and you will feel alright!!! Hell YEAH!!!

This is more American than a Mexican restaurant. They have an amazing orchata water, an they’re lunch specials are not bad. I usually get their steak nachos which are not bad at all. Guacamole and chips are ok, tacos are not bad. I had tried their burrito and they usually have to pay extra for cheese, and sour cream.

Hell yes! In Chicago there are many, «we have a big burrito» claims, but this place is it, bar none. It’s three pounds for 11 $ and some change, that’s with tax, and it’s a steak burrito also.
Small, friendly and clean. Even the clientele is friendly, had a nice conversation about the pope situation and the state of the Catholic church while waiting for my burrito to get packaged to go.
I will be making this a regular stop. I even took a picture of the huge burrito that served up a few meals. It doesn’t fit in those plastic bags the size you get at the grocery store, they put a paper bag on each end, then put it in the plastic bag. Half of it hangs out, I recommend you carry it like a new born across your forearm.

It was a late night and my friends and I were coming back home from a party and we all needed to get something to eat. It just happens to be that after drinking alcohol my friends and I crave burritos. I’m not sure why, but this place had the best tasting burritos I’ve ever tasted. The meat wasn’t over cooked or dry like at other locations I have been at. The cooks are very friendly and have a good humor, they even crack a joke here and there. My friends and I will be giving this place another visit soon.

One word… Yumm!!!

My wife used to live in the neighborhood, so when we had an apatite and happened to be over there we stopped in.
We were greeted by two very friendly young lads.
We ordered a burrito and a chili rellenos dinner. The food came fast and both were very decent.
My only complaint was the place was a bit dingy, but it was no big deal.
I’d definitely stop in again if I’m in the neighborhood.

The food is nothing particularly special. I’ve had the (chicken, I think) burrito, not the huge one, but one that was like $ 5 – 6 (they have three sizes). It was pretty good, not fantastic, but certainly hit the spot at drunk-​o-​clock. I’ve also had the burger, it was smallish but cheap and tastier than you’d expect at a Mexican joint. Probably rates three stars, but bonus for being open late (24 hours is only on weekends) and for having some American food. Not much seating, though (I think it’s like lunch-​counter-​type only).

This is your ‘standard’ «hole-​in-​the-​wall» Mexican restaurant. This address had been a tavern in a prior life as recently as 1994. I seldom entered it; but it looked like an OK place.
You can park in the lot of the convenience store just east of it, across the alley.
I think it has different owners than back in October 2008. The primarily Spanish-​speaking family which staffed here (and the television set turned to Telefutura or Univision) have been supplanted by two males, of which the Hispanic male works the grill. The TV set is now tuned to an English-​language channel.
I usually have the burrito here. Not the one described beneath which is purportedly as big as your head, but an average-​sized one. The deal here is the burrito and an order of french fries for $ 5.40 [$ 6.01]. You have a choice of seven main ingredients for the burrito. I usually flex between ground beef and steak. This evening, I had steak.
The steak was a bit tough in some spots. At least two cuts were unchewable. But most of the steak was ok. The onions are chopped, and are very fresh. The fries are institutional, but prepared very well. They keep their temperature for a good time, which is rare amongst any restaurants. (I took this order out.)
The ‘American’ items are still on the menu. I haven’t had them.
Is this a venue worth going out of your way for? I say «no». But it’s an ok place. There are not a lot of dinner options in Belmont-​Cragin, especially around Belmont & Cicero.
Transit options: The #77 Belmont bus runs past here _​all the time_​. The #54 Cicero runs twenty hours a day on that street; and the #X54 Cicero Express runs five days a week from AM through PM rush hours.

Yup, another typical 24 hour neighborhood Mexican restaurant. They have all the standard fair. Tacos, burritos, tortas, etc. They also have a breakfast menu with all the typical Mexican breakfast choices such as chorizo con huevos. And all are just as good as any other typical small neighborhood Mexican restaurant. They even have hamburgers if you so desire. The food or the «circuses» will not be knocking anyone’s socks off that visits here. It’s decent food that will do the job of filling you up if you are hungry.
A friend had to drive there to get his drunk dad his burrito fix. He wondered why his dad made him drive really far to this place when there are other restaurants closer to him. After he found out why, he told me. Then I got curious. So what is the main draw of this place? What makes it so different from any other typical Mexican restaurant?
Well, it is open 24 hours. Which is helpful if you live around Belmont and Cicero.
But it really is their burrito. No, not the regular burrito that’s on the menu, but their biggest one. And they don’t mess around when it come to it. There’s another Mexican restaurant that claims they have «burritos as big as your head.» Well, Burrito King puts that place to shame!
Burrito King really does have a burrito that is comparable to a person’s head (ok, pretty damn close). It’s friggin’ huge! A (roughly) foot-​long burrito that weighs in at around 3 pounds, and costs just over $ 10. It may be worth it to some to stop in just to see the damn thing! It easily feeds 2 – 4 people. It’s like a urban legend! Go check it out if you’re hungry and got the cash to burn!
But I do have a feeling not too many people order it, because sometimes the cook has to ask for advice on the best way to fold the damn thing!
