This place is chicago and chicago is this place. Amazing dive bar, spacious and full of character. Lisa was our bartender and she absolutely killed it! Get here soon.

The bartender skipped multiple of my friend’s songs that she paid for on the jukebox. Sort of a scheisty move, imo. Drinks were dece, though.

It was so packed one time… well, we got away with some fun time shenanigans and no one noticed. old school LP bar.

I wish I lived closer to this place. I also wish I could have brought my own container to fit more free popcorn in. This place is chill and I like that. The bartender was very nice and I appreciated that she filled our drinks and bought one back as a nice-my-shift-is-ending-gesture. Not sure the regulars were the biggest fans of the four of us who were new to their turf. But, I will just have to go back and win them over. Great little spot.

If you’re looking for a great neighborhood bar in Lincoln Park look no further. Burwood Tap is a great place to hang out with friends at any time of day. I have brought many of my friends here and they all absolutely love it. It’s such a great atmosphere and the staff is great. A lot of cute girls, cold drinks, sports on the tv, pool and free popcorn. You can’t go wrong with that. Best bar in the city in my book.

Update the website!!! I’m conflicted about this place. It was actually a pretty cool bar, I came on a Wednesday night for trivia expecting some great specials advertised on their website and on . None of the specials were accurate on the website, they were charging more than advertised. A buffet with Caesar salad, meatballs and stuffed shells was advertised online, however only wings were served. Don’t get me wrong, free wings are cool, and I appreciated it, but nothing was as advertised on their website. Would have given at least 4 stars if website was up to date.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place when we were on a random quest to find a place to grab a drink. The décor of this place is best described as random which fits for the dive bar type of feel. I loved the vibe of this place first the very moment I walked in here. I’m not a huge drinker but when I do drink I like to ask the bartender what they would recommend for someone that likes sweet mixed drinks with vodka. 99% of bartenders I’ve met always have a drink within the first 30 seconds of me asking and some of them even offer to make me a customized drink. The first bartender we encountered wasn’t friendly and seemed like she would rather be anywhere else in the world then in that bar. She didn’t have a clue as to what to recommend and seemed like she hadn’t been working there long. As the night progressed that same bartender was seen braiding her colleagues hair and taking shots with the other workers that night. I don’t mind having a good time but you can’t be at the main bar and slacking off. The second bartender that took over for the first bartender was amazing! She was super personable and equally knowledgeable when my friend and I asked about different drinks. We decided to give her all of our business for the rest of the night. Had we not interacted with her I don’t think I would’ve even considered coming back let alone recommending this place. As the night went on this chill place turned into a mini-night club filled with people in their early to late 20’s. It was a great vibe and I truly enjoyed myself. The next time I come here I will make sure that I mentally prepare myself for the craziness that occurs in this place.

Didn’t get any food, but loved the atmosphere. The owner/bartender is a cool dude. Super fun place to hang out at on a week day night.

I have been looking for a dive-y local bar to frequent since I moved to Chicago. This just might become my go-to spot. You can come here any day of the week and have a good time – not just on the weekends! I hear they have trivia on Wednesday nights, which I want to check out. They have a decent selection of beers on tap and the bartenders weren’t snotty. They even offered me free food that they got from a nearby eatery. And even the bouncer was pretty friendly! I like the smaller, more intimate atmosphere of this place. The décor gives it a vintage flair too, which I like. I definitely plan on coming here again soon!

We stopped in here for a drink before we went to Kingston Mines around the corner. It was pretty packed(it was a Saturday evening, and the Blackhawks game was on). They have a nice selection of drinkage, friendly bartenders, billiards, and popcorn. There isn’t a lot of seating, but if you are ok with standing then you won’t mind this place. I would definitely come back. Nice, lively crowd but not rowdy. A down-to-earth place!

Solid neighborhood bar. Always a fun time. Minus a star for a pretty mediocre selection of tap beers however. No Guinness on tap? Also they should allow dogs on slow nights. Still, a solid place and must see if you are new to the area.

All I can say is bud light pitchers, billiards, TouchTunes, awesome bartenders and popcorn on popcorn and more popcorn. This place is the quintessential local pub and we from the second city rugby troop absolutely love some Burwood. If you want a place in Chicago to share a pint and enjoy some good company this is the place for you. Come see me! I’m wearing the black long sleeve in the back loving life.

AJ was an amazing bartender. He was quick, respectful, and so much fun. If you’re at the back bar, make sure he makes your drinks because he’s a doll and will make your night so much. Eugene will talk to you like an old friend and burwood is just a home away from home.
My girlfriend and I were walking down the street when we literally stumbled upon this place in huge middle of the afternoon on black Wednesday. We were both thirsty, despite it being 25 degrees outside, so we decided to stop in for a drink. We were very pleasantly surprised! The décor is just what you would expect to find in a little neighborhood bar — lots of old, vintage signs on the walls and hanging from the ceiling, vintage light fixtures, and the bar looks like it’s original from when the place was built. The girl behind the bar said that it was her first day bar tending, and it clearly showed. However, she had a pretty good attitude and was very talkative. And since we were only drinking beer, we didn’t really mind.

My bestie and I decided to throw ourselves an I Love Lucy themed 20 year friend-iversary party(true story). We were in search of a local, neighborhood pub that would allow us to reserve a space and set up a drink package for our group of 20. I e-mailed the event coordinator at Burwood and she filled me in on the deets. I was able to reserve tables and set up a wristband deal for $ 30 of open bar for 3 hours which included beer, wine, top shelf liquor and basically everything besides shots. Sounds like a pretty good situation right? Well… …it was okay. Don’t get me wrong, I had a fun night but I believe that was due to the fact that I was with my family and friends(and we threw a pretty awesome pre-party). I honestly thought Burwood would be a lot less crowded, more neighborhood«everybody knows your name» feel, and most importantly, I thought the event plans I set in place a month prior would follow through with ease. I was wrong. We got there right at 9:00 as planned and our reserved tables were nowhere to be found. I fought the crowds and headed to the back bar to try and flag down a bartender for some help. After 10 minutes of waiting(while my guests are sandwiched between people hovered around the bar), we were finally led to a few tables. But wait for it… They kicked patrons out of those tables to give them to us! Not only do I think that’s rude from a business standpoint, but it was also pretty awkward. The kicker — one of the tables literally was hosting Mr. and Mrs. Claus! No joke. Ok, so these folks were just quite old, but the resemblance was alarming. Of course now I felt bad. Regardless, we took our seats and carried on with our night. The table locations were less then ideal as they were pretty much in the corridor that connects the front part of the bar with the back, and also hosts the extended long bathroom lines. At least we had alcohol right! Well… We did. However, the first trip up to the bar was rough. Two of the bartenders kept telling us top shelf was not included in our package when indeed it was. Eventually we got the event coordinator to educate them on the bars’ deals. Then of course the drinks were small and service was slow. I assume they were choosing not to cater to those with a package deal? Who knows, but it was real annoying. Long story short(of course after telling the long story already), maybe this bar is better for some day drinking, or some beers during the week. Or maybe even if you’re out with just a couple friends. I do not however suggest going with a large group, or partaking in their wristband drink special. It’s a recipe for frustration.

I came here for the first time last night for some team trivia and was pleasantly surprised with how cool of a place this is. It’s a smaller neighborhood bar, which I kind of prefer over the giant bars that tend to populate Lincoln Park and Wrigley. We came around 8:30, since trivia started at 9:00. When we first got there the place was pretty dead, but by the time trivia was starting it was pretty packed out. It’s a cool atmosphere, with some rustic decorations and a solid pool table. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, and the drink specials were pretty solid. My $ 3 whiskey diet coke was pretty watered down, so I ended up going back to beer, but no real complaints. The only bummer was that they have an old fashioned popcorn machine that wasn’t working at the time — I would have loved some fresh popcorn! On Wednesdays they don’t have a full menu, just a rotating buffet and Home Run Inn pizzas that they can cook up for you. We ended up getting the pizza and for what it was, it wasn’t bad. We also had the option to order in food, which is always nice. I also have to say that the guy who runs trivia is great. This is one of the more fun trivia nights I’ve been to — questions are challenging but not ridiculous, with a good variety of categories. The guy who runs it comes to your table to check in between rounds, which works way better than everyone giving cards to him. He was really nice and made it fun. I’m happy to know this place is here! Looking forward to going back.

Came here for a birthday party a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by the dive-y atmosphere and bro-less-ness, despite it’s Lincoln Park address. The inside is kitschy and cluttered, but adorably so. It’s quite small so seating is an issue, and now that I’m officially 30, seating is CLUTCH. We were lucky enough to grab a table for four that allowed the rest of our group to mill around nearby, but there was still a great deal of awkward bumping around. Those of us who got mixed drinks were satisfied, and I was pleased that they had Angry Orchard bottles for a not-completely-obscene price(yeah, I drank angry orchard. See above where I note I am OLDANDWEAKSAUCE). The service was very quick and unpretentious. They had pool tables in the back that seemed to attract a myriad of different types of people, and people mingled pleasantly throughout the place. I probably wouldn’t choose to come back, but I had a nice time while I was here. It seems to be a pleasant little neighborhood hangout.

This place is pretty fantastic. Monday through Thursday they have a free food buffet at 8:30. Sometimes its decent food, sometimes it’s not. Either way, it’s free. Their drinks are decent, and reasonably priced. It’s a nice place to venture to!
