Came here after meeting my friend after work. It was the only place open at 10pm on a cold Monday night(snowing too!) We went for the Peruvian seafood pealla and the beef heart with empanadas. Everything seemed a little off. Don’t know why but tanta definitley tastes way more amazing!

I have literally been here like 50 times. lol I LOVE their food and its a dark intimate space with a live cuatro player of Friday evenings. The Ambiance is perfect for loooong talks or dates. The prices are a bit steep for peruvian dishes that aren’t all luxurious steak, but they are byob, the menu is diverse, the green sauce and fresh baked bread can be a meal because that sauce is heavenly, parking is free and always available! Their staff is amazing, fast, attentive and its all around a great restaurant. Glad I don’t have to venture all the way to their sister restaurant Ay Ay Picante anymore. Try the Aji de gallina, Palta rellena de camarones, any ceviche. So good. Oh and I once got a craving at 1am and they’re open until 2am on weekends!

This place was amazing! Was not sure if i was going to like it based on some if the reviews i read. My boyfriend and i went for a late Valentines day dinner and the feel of the resturant was perfect for a sweet date. We did not need a reservation when we walked in and dressed casual. Getting to the important part, the food! It was delicious and we will be coming back! We started off with the fried calamari, the side sauce that came with it was amazing! I was not sure if i was going to like it but the red onion and lime juice went so well with the calamari! Main entrées, i had the arroz con marisco, so good! Had a ton of seafood, great flavor and over all well worth the price for the amount of food you got. I was very impressed by this plate. My friend ordered the lomo saltado also very delicious. The steak was super tender and had a a great flavor, i did feel they gave you more filler than meat(rice and the fries) but was still filling and well seasoned. The wait staff was very attentive and kind, only minor issue we had was they made my boyfriends order with chicken instead of lomo but our server realized it immediately and brought us an extra plate so we could share mine as we waited for his, which in out case was fine because we planned on sharing anyway. To make up for it he brought a complimentary flan out with the check and it was amazing! It was just the right amount of sweetness and had a caramel layer on top that just added to the flavor in so many ways. It was 57 for all of it and i cannot wait to come back!

Made a same day rez for last night(’twas the night before Valentines Day, and all through the house…) and expected that it may be chaotic. We were pleasantly surprised that the staff were totally on top of their game. Our 9PM reservation was on time, despite a 60th birthday party with no less than 40 guests. The yeasty rolls served with aji verde salsa(that slightly spicy light green sauce that Peruvian restaurants invariably plop on the table with bread prior to ordering) were both delicious. Had to order a refill. We started with Palta Rellena con Camarones,(avocado half stuffed with shrimp salad). Not the most exciting app on the menu, but the avocado was ripe, and the potato/shrimp salad mixed with mayo was exactly that… nothing more, nothing less. The Chupe de Camarones Origen Arequipa was stellar. This creamy shrimp«bisque» was definitely made with a shrimp stock base(using the heads and shells of the shrimp). The soup was finished off with rice, cream, and a soft cooked egg(not unlike a Chinese egg drop consistency) and 6 – 7 large, perfectly cooked shrimp. Arroz con Mariscos was a saffron scented rice dish garnished with various shellfish and vegetables. Shrimp and squid were really tender. The mussels they used were the«frozen on the half shell» variety, so they didn’t lend any flavor, and our order didn’t have any octopus(as listed in the menu). Overall, the dish was very tasty. Sauteed onions were added to the finished dish along with sweet peppers & cilantro. Unfortunately, we couldn’t try any of the ceviches because they had run out of «leche de tigre»(the lime juice concoction that the seafood is marinated in). We weren’t pissed however. It’s the perfect excuse to come back soon. Last, but not least, the enigmatic beefy Peruvian classic, Lomo Saltado. The marinated beef had delicious flavor and was perfectly cooked and was sauteed with garlic, cilantro & tomatoes. The french fries were slightly crisp,(not soggy like many places serve) and it was accompanied by white rice. Service was really very good, given the number of guests they had served. I’m back here in a hot minute. Delicious.

This place is awesome! I came here for date night with my husband and the food was awesome! I had lomo saltado and my husband had bistec encebollado. I love the fact that they offer BYOB. The waiter even gave me an ice bucket and opened my bottle of wine. The ambiance was great. The only negative thing I have to say is they need satellite radio or a different mix of music. The same two songs kept replaying for over an hour and a half. I used a groupon that I had purchased and the redemption was seamless. I will definately return to Ceviche!

We loved Ceviche tonight! Our table of 4 shared the traditional mixed seafood soup. It was served portioned for each person, which was nice. We dunked the excellent bread into the remaining soup. Excellent. We ordered the mixed ceviche and shrimp ceviche and had no leftovers. The adults had the steak and the mixed seafood rice and there wasn’t enough to left over to bring home. I did practically beg our server to buy the green sauce/salsa that is served with the bread to bring home. It’s amazing. We were so lucky on a Wednesday night to have a master guitarist entertain the guests. Really a treat.

What a gem. Pierro, our waiter, is the best thing this side of Western aka the shit. As we dined under a beautiful Marie Antoinette chandelier, our taste buds were satisfied with ceviche that was fresh and tasty. A shrimp dish was turned into ceviche for us on a whim – just because we wanted it. Service like this doesn’t exist in the city. Some steak and paella followed and didn’t disappoint. Actually, it impressed like a Real Housewives reunion episode. BYOB places are a gift from baby Jesus and this has to be on the top of your list. If you’ve traveled to Peru this is the place to reminisce/throw a party. Order the pisco sours!

The guest experience here is lacking from no host at the door for several minutes and no bar or BYOB signage, to the menus not matching the name of the restaurant. The appetizer we had, however, was delicious. The Palta Rellena con Pollo o Camarones is an avocado stuffed with potato salad including peas, carrots, and mayonnaise. We ordered ours with grilled shrimp and were pleasantly surprised. While waiting for a host to seat us we walked around and bit and were disappointed to see a defunct bar and dining room. While eating, the phone rings at an obnoxious volume and it’s clear by all the delivery signs posted that they place more value on their phone and online orders than walk-ins. We were one of three tables and probably won’t make it back anytime soon.

My boyfriend and I go to Peruvian restaurants from time to time, and this is the best one yet! We started off with choclo con queso and huancainas. The queso was light and creamy, as well as salty enough to contrast with the sweet pieces of choclo. The huancainas had just the right amount of spice. For our entrees, we had ceviche de mariscos and cau cau. The leche de tigre was so acidic it could rid you of any hangover and bring about sunny skies in the depths of a Lima winter. The seafood cau cau was spiced perfectly! It included shrimp, squid and calamari. Not too much rice either, just enough to soak up the tastey sauce. Definitely a must if you’re planning on sharing your entrée — more than enough for two! For dessert you are SHOWN your options before having yours freshly made. We chose the wafers and cream. Light, crisp, sweet and tangy. If you love seafood you MUST come here! The staff is attentive, food comes out quickly and they are quick to clean up too and offer anything needed for BYOB.

Just moved to this neighborhood and walk past this restaurant daily. Obviously, I have peeked inside a few times and have been curious since the restaurant looks cute(I know, I know, the worst reason to try a place to eat!). I love trying new things though and especially supporting local businesses so we decided to go here for dinner last night. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. The restaurant has a really nice ambiance, the server was super helpful and extremely friendly, and the food was actually really delicious. We tried the beef empanadas, one of the ceviches, and a shrimp dish. There were two other tables there getting food while we were there. The purpose of me writing this review is to change that. After trying the food and enjoying our server so much we could not understand why the place wasn’t busier. I get the service is a bit slower(it is authentic afterall) and the food, on average is $ 20/dish(large portions). However, everything else was lovely. The server at the end of the meal even gave each of us $ 10 off coupons to use on a grubhub order! We will definitely be back and this time armed with wine — since it is BYOB! GOHERE!

Purchased a groupon on October 21st was asked while piurching to make an appointment was interested in October 22nd but that date was blocked so I made my reservation for November 5th. When I called the restaurant on October 22 and left a message that I was interested in October 22 if there was an opening for someone to please call me and let me know. I had made other reservations elsewhere and noticed that someone had called me and left a message for for a reservation opening but never personally spoke to me. After my engagement early that evening I noticed the message and called back requesting November 5 reservation back. On November 4th I opened my groupon so I could call the number and double check to make sure my reservation was for November 5th and left a message. No answer nor a call back. Noticed that my Groupon said redeemed??? I called Groupon and told them and also asked why my Groupon would reflect redeemed when I haven’t use the groupon yet. Customer service told me that if a Groupon reservation was made then the Groupon could have been redeemed. I explained to customer service that my initial Reservation date was for November 5 but did call and leave a message for the date of the 22nd of October but had never talked to anyone conferring I had received the message. Customer service said it should be ok. On November 5th I again called and left a message to make a reservation for 5:30 that evening. Someone called me and told me I do not need to make a reservation and could just walk in. I showed up around 5pm and sat down. Ran to the washroom which had no towed to dry my hands on and sat at the table. My husband mentioned to the server on duty our situation. Server called the owner then came back and told us the owner said the Groupon was used and could not do anything. Server told us if we would like to call the owner and talk to him we could. My husband explained the situation and the owner said we would have to call Groupon. He also explained to the owner that we did that the day Prier to coming there and was told the Groupon could reflect redeemed because we made an appointment while purching a Groupon. Owner said there is nothing he can do because Groupon can’t redeem? So it must have been redeemed at the restaurant. We had never been here before… Now will never go again nor will our friends because of this. What a waste of an evening paid parking and my husband and I only day off. Lack of communication between owner and Groupon. Really how many times should I call just for a reservation.

I am Peruvian and grew up on Ceviche. The food here is great! The fish Ceviche is perfect! Their hot sauce(aji) is delish(great for bread dipping)… and it BYOB! It has the best ambiance of all the different Peruvian restaurants I have been to in the city. Also, it’s great for a private party! I had my 50th there last week. I had 50 people in their nicely decorated and set private room(photo attached). Giampiero Martini gave me a great deal and the service was excellent! He and his staff kept the buffet fresh, were very conscientious of my guests and myself. My buffet included fish Ceviche, Lomo Saltado and Pollo a la Brasa with a bunch of sides and a great side salad. Literally, something for all tastes. We were able to bring our own cocktails and they have a great sound system which allowed us to play our own music. A good sized dance floor allowed us to have a lot of fun! Most of my guest were not Peruvian and they LOVED everything! Ceviche and Giampiero have fans for life!

Came here with a girlfriend to check out their ceviche with the help of a Groupon(I think it was 15 for 30). The restaurant was completely empty when we got there on a Tuesday at 6PM, and by the time we left around 730, only one other group had come in. I would have been more worried if not for the pretty great Unilocal reviews from other patrons. We decided to just try a few different apps considering neither of us were starving, and we settled on the ceviche mixto(tilapia, shrimp, and calamari), the stuffed avocado dish with chicken(no olives), and the grilled beef hearts. All three dishes were REALLY good — fresh with great flavors. They also give complimentary bread with this AMAZING green garlicky sauce — not sure what is in it, but today at my desk I pined for more of their warm toasty bread(also delicious) and that sauce. I could have bathed in it. The service was very friendly if not a tiny bit slow(considering we were the only patrons pretty much the entire time), but our waiter was friendly and courteously brought us more bread and sauce when we asked. The prices are a little on the pricier side, but you get a good quantity and the quality seems on point. Plus BYOB helps. I hope business picks up for them, because I think they are a very very tasty addition to the neighborhood.

I visited Peru with my family a couple years ago, and I’ve been on a quest to find food just as good. After convincing my husband to get Peruvian food, I was amped to check out Ceviche! I had heard such good things. We grabbed a bottle of vino from the nearby Walgreens(we fancy) and headed on over. The search for parking wasn’t too bad — found a free spot on a side street. Now, for the food. The bread and the aji sauce — so good! Entrees: I ordered Fettuccine Al Olivo Con Camarones(fettucine with shrimp), and it tasted like a bad version of cajun pasta. Sad face. I had lots of leftovers and refused to eat it(mind you, I LOVE leftovers). My husband ordered Filet Mignon Del Callao, which was steak and shrimp. This was pretty good… I was way jelly of his order, and probably ate more of his than my own. Steak didn’t really look like a filet mignon, but it had great flavor and was cooked perfectly, as was the shrimp. Mashed potatoes were also good, and the veggies were nothing special. Service: Not the best. Pretty slow, and our waiter disappeared for a long time when we were done, and we wondered if he had gone home. It wasn’t busy there, either. I’d maybe come back to try their lomo saltado, since that’s the dish I always crave. I probably should’ve just gotten that instead of the pasta. Womp.

Civeche is one of our favorite resturants, so when my fiancé and I were looking for a place to have our wedding, it scored top on our list. Not only did we have our reception there, but also did our ceremony in the back room. The staff was excellent from the moment we inquired about using the place to the day after the wedding when they helped us pack all the stuff we brought in and get it to our cars. There were 130 attendees at the wedding. Pierro, the manger made sure everything went on without a flaw; even ordering special white table clothes for the occasion. Between the ceremony and the reception, guests were given passed horsdevors followed by an elegant sit-down 4 course meal. The main course, which consisted of a combo plate with filet, chicken and scallops tasted way better than any hotel/banquette hall wedding meal I’ve ever had and people raved about the food all night long. As a added bonus, Ceviche is BYOB, so we saved a ton on liqueur. All this at about half the cost per person of the average hotel meal. Thanks to Ceviche for making our wedding day perfect.

Five stars for absolutely delightful experience from beginning to end! I would consider this restaurant an unassuming gem. Service: I called in advance for a reservation and the host was extremely friendly. I changed our reservation time and the host was more than willing to assist. And I see why because when we entered, the place was nearly empty. At that point, I was unsure of how our dining experience would fare but the server helped us feel comfortable. He spoke with a very casual, inviting demeanor and was an expert in the menu. He even gave us recommendations on what to order and the flavor profile of each item, which we appreciated. I think this place is very authentic. Food: We ordered three items: beef hearts appetizer, Peruvian-style seafood paella, and ceviche pescada(fish ceviche). Each item was delicious! Don’t be alarmed by the beef hearts – the taste and texture is that of tender, marinated beef. The seafood paella is Peruvian-style, meaning that it was prepared in a wok so it lacks that crust that is traditionally found in Spanish paellas. We still enjoyed it, but just FYI in case you’re expecting some crust. The combination of all the dishes helped balance each other, as the ceviche is very citrus-y(as it typically is). Price: Everything was priced very reasonably. Portion sizes were generous for one person, so we shared all the dishes amongst our table of three. We used a Groupon offer to sweeten the deal, so the total cost for all three dishes, tax, and gratuity was under $ 40! Ambiance: The interior is dimly lit for an intimate environment, with a beautiful chandelier in the high ceiling. It would feel a bit more comfortable if there were more diners though. The exterior of the restaurant leaves much to be desired… to be honest, the restaurant looks charred from the curb. I heard that the building used to be a club, which makes alot of sense when you walk through. But overall, the ambiance and look of the restaurant is not bad at all, just furthers my point that it’s an «unassuming gem.» Five stars for the overall experience, I would definitely go back!

Alot of people recommended this place to me. So we finally went on a Sunday after church. Great dim lighting, nice soft hispanic music, calm atmosphere, customer service was on point, friendly and very attentive. Sundays they have a buffet. We chose to go with the buffet. I believe it was 14.99 It was delicious! They had ceviche, lamb, rice, like 2 different kind of chickens(one was Lemon chicken) other things that we have never seen before very very yummy! We went with kids ages 8 and 10 and they didn’t charge us for them, so that was nice. Nice place for a date night!

This establishment is 1 stars at best. I have an upset stomach and I generally do not get one ever except after eating an entire Gino’s east deep dish pizza… We were the literally the only people in the restraunt and it took forever to get our food. I have no idea how it’s 4.5… Our friends that live around the corner said it used to be a shady bar and the feel inside is nice but u can tell it was a bar. Also, it was 55 $… It was Panda Express quality food and meh service. How do I ha e an empty water glass with an empty restaurant. Ambience is ok. Very Peruvian, repetitive salsa music playing, no one there at all. This is generally a sign. A party of drunk women was leaving saying how good it was. The chairs are minimal And sorta uncomfy and the tables are nice. The 12 $ ceviche, which was charged as 17 $ but we got a ‘free desert’, had 4 shrimp. They were warm. A bunch of avocado tho lord. The stuff tatted like potato salad no joke. It had watercress… My water glass had been empty for a long time and we were the ONLY people there. The food also took Avery long time to come out. Not a single dish really stood out to me at all and I did not want fried seafood. I opted to have ‘filet Mingon’ which was slightly chewy yet OK. There were 4 octopus loops and the shrimp were gross and smelled fishy, and the octopus was just meh. The vegetables were cold and hard and the mushroom ‘risotto’ was outta a can. My girlfriend barely ate any of her pasta and I did t kno why till we got home. The parts was brown… Like dark dark brown but I had no idea in the restaurant back it was so dark. I wanted to throw it out. Over the food quality was not good. Very poor ingredients. No flavor. I will not return. Canned looking food. Also, this is me personally but the one server was incredibly up in my business he was like on top of my phone and moving my coat and phone case and reaching over me moving my food boxes. DONOT. REARRANGEMYTHINGSONMYDINNER table. The dessert was ok. Could’ve used more sauce very watery sponge. So many other options to choose from near-by please go elsewhere. It will be closed it is always empty.

We had an experience that was rather strange, indeed. We went in for lunch and the place was empty, except for a group of gentlemen who seemed to be very familiar with the place(owners? friends of owners??). No one greeted me and when I asked one of the group if they were open he responded«of course». I grabbed a table in the HUGE dining room where all of the tables except for one were empty. We were sent here by our neighbors as it’s right down the street, so we figured we’d keep giving it a chance. The food was good and fresh, but very pricey and huge portions for a lunch. There was a $ 30 brunch but no lunch specials or the like. We’d probably go back for a dinner, but I don’t think we’ll be doing any more lunches there unless we hear about a lunch menu coming out.

This is place is the sister restaurant of «Ay Ay Picante» on Elston in the Albany Park neighborhood. Currently, they share the identical menu items as you would see when dining at Ay Ay Picante. Hubby and I visited Ay Ay Picante on the Christmas Day, by accident, and had a great impression on the restaurant and menu items they offer. We both tried different seafood dishes this time: arroz con mariscos and picante de mariscos. We received a good service from the young man at the restaurant and generously rendered us some fresh bread with that«legendary» green sauce. Yes, that green sauce is merely amazing. It’s creamy, garlicky, and delicious! As I mentioned on my Ay Ay Picante review, their portions are large enough to take home. A typical seafood entrée runs in between $ 16 to $ 20. I know it’s somewhat pricy, but purchasing a groupon will certainly help with the cost. The«Ceviche» restaurant in Logan Square offers a groupon deal as well; it was $ 16 for $ 30 worth of food and beverage purchases. The balance came to $ 7.15 after the groupon, before tax and tips. Yes, this is how we «do»(incorrect grammar, but I’m just trying to be cool and modern). If you like any kind of seafood and like it done with a bold flavor, I will totally recommend Ceviche and Ay Ay Picante.

I was there with a friend having my birthday dinner and what a surprise it was with the food! We walked in there were not many people there but shortly after more and more patrons started walking in. The place is BYOB so that pretty good. On to the food… we started off with the ceviche mixto(per the recommendation of our waiter Luis). He was not kidding when he said it was a great app. Then we ordered 2 entrees, the mar y tierra(surf and turf) and the jalea de mariscos(deep fried shrimp, calamari, and fish) and their portions were very generous but the overall taste of the food was awesome! Since it was my bday I got some sort of flan which was great and went very well with my coffee. One thing I did notice is that they use the same menu as Ay Ay Picante since apparently they are owned by the same person but I thought that was weird. My friend ordered a cappuccino(since its listed on the menu) however Ceviche doesn’t serve them… lol. The service overall was great, Luis kept checking up on us but was not there every 2minutes like a lot other restaurants. I will hopefully be back soon to try other dishes.
