This is a restaurant when it first opened about 5 or so years ago that was top notch, impeccable steaks, sides, desserts and service. I even took clients here because of how great it was. However, my last experience this past Friday fell incredibly short of its past perfection. 1) We had a group reservation for 8PM and we were not seated until 830PM. 2) I ordered the Cajun marinated ribeye along with another friend, not only was there virtually no Cajun flavor the meat was devoid of seasoning altogether. 3) I only ate the steak and for the last two days both my friend and I have been super sick and can’t keep any food down. For a $ 100+ meal that’s very disheartening. It’s crazy because I honestly loved this place and hate to write a negative review but given my last visit and sickness for such an expensive meal, I felt I had to.

A last supper, if you will, with a friend of mine on our last night in Chicago. We rolled in around 12:45 am on a Sunday night and were the only ones there. We really appreciated the fact that they were open so late, and the service was the best we experienced over the whole weekend(for some reason, Chicago overall lacks exceptional customer service?). The outside dining area looked pretty romantic at night: it was nicely lit and overlooks the river. Portions were huge and food is solid. This place will forever hold a special place in my heart for the company and time spent.

This place is always packed for dinner(which is great), but I believe the real steal and bang for your buck lies in the Chicago Cut brunch menu. On a warm summer day, you can sit out on their patio overlooking the river and enjoy either a surf & turf benedict(1 with a prime filet + 1 with either lobster or crab) or a ‘turf & turf’ benefit(both with prime filets) for just $ 16. If benedicts aren’t your thing, the restaurant also has a lot of other breakfast options, including a yummy banana challah french toast and egg white omelettes. Another plus– instead of bread to start your meal, they give you beignets covered in powdered sugar with delicious fruit jam. Only minus– the service is a bit slow and not the most attentive in my experience. But on a sunny Saturday, it’s not bad to just sit back and relax a bit while waiting for your food.

Amazing steaks and great service every time! Now that the weather is getting nicer, definitely recommend sitting out in the patio. Gorgeous view of the city!

I’d been here before about 5 years ago, and revisited this past weekend with my father, sister and a friend. When we got there, we requested riverside dining. The table they showed us to was not next to the river, it was right next to the entrance, so we requested a table inside… my request garnered me an eye-roll from the hostess and an under-the-breath«Godddd» from her. So, that’s how the evening started. Our waiter was fine, very helpful with the wine selection. I did not appreciate, however, how quickly our food came out. With a meal like this, I want to enjoy it, savor it, take my time and not feel rushed. Felt like they were just trying to turn the table(we were a 6:30 reservation). Overall, it was fine. The hostess attitude and rushed service are the reasons for the 3 stars instead of more.

Great steakhouse with an extensive menu. Came with a large group and we tried several appetizers(oysters, tuna tartar, lobster on toast, pork belly, crab cakes, lamb chops, shrimp cocktail) and sides(Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, potatoes). My bone in ribeye was delicious and so large! Dessert selection was also great and we tried one of everything. Overall a great meal but they forgot 3 of our doggie bags and we didn’t realize until we had left!

We took the adult kids to Chicago Cut Steakhouse for a special meal on a recent Saturday evening. There were five of us in our party with only AT having been there before. His previous experiences had been very good and he wanted to treat us(or at least me) to a great Chicago steak. We obviously had reservations and I assume they would be pretty much required for a weekend and are probably a good idea for anytime. We were a little early and killed a few minutes in the bar while KT and BS arrived, then were seated right on time. Our server, Marco was excellent throughout the evening. We had read some recent reviews about the service being poor, but we did not experience that. Around the table we ordered Prime Rib, Halibut, Grilled Tuna and two Bone-in Ribeyes. For sides we shared Brussels Sprouts, Mixed Mushrooms and Grilled Asparagus. Marco plated the sides for us, dividing them so we all had a portion of each and it worked perfectly. We all had very good meals with the following comments. The halibut was rated to be excellent by Ms T(4 stars). KT rated the tuna to be tasteless unless dipped in the sauce(3 stars). Branden rated the large Prime Rib at about 3−½ stars. I think it suffered the same issue as the steaks. AT and I both had the Bone-in Rib-Eyes. These were very generous. We both ordered them au poivre. Andrew’s was definitely over-cooked for medium rare. Mine was closer to correct but on the done side for medium rare, just not as much. This surprised me as I expect steakhouses of this caliber to be right on point with doneness. I was a little disappointed(as was AT, I think) with the relative lack of flavor in the beef.(3 to 3−½ stars) It was tender and enjoyable, it just lacked great seared beef flavor that I expect from a place like this. It did need some salt seared into the crust, but beyond that it just was not quite what we came for. It would have been interesting to have it without the black pepper corns. I was under impressed by the wine list, although I did not really look at Bordeaux because the two others who would drink wine with me would not be fans of that style. I picked a mid-range Shiraz that I knew to be great with this food and it was indeed very good. I know going in that this was not a place for bargain wine, but I still am bothered when I pay 4x retail for a wine I have at home. We shared a couple of good desserts and I left with at least 2⁄3 of my steak as did AT. It made really good quesadillas at home(with some salt and seasonings added). It was still tender and juicy a couple of days later. While slicing the leftovers for our quesadillas I actually thought it tasted better cold than at the restaurant. Chicago Cut should be a 5-star place. You will not get out for under $ 100 /person and if you have any wine at all it goes up from there. It was good but not up to that standard and I say that mainly for the two steaks that AT and I had. I just wonder if good beef is really difficult to get anymore. I assume these are prime grade but I suspect grading standards are not what they used to be. I also think beef production has reduced the fat(and waste) to suit more health conscious tastes. With that fat content goes the flavor. I think will stick with my Allen Brothers skirts, well-seasoned and grilled at home.(until I want to try my luck again). I actually think this might be a good place to go and NOT order steak.

Hector who was our waiter sucked. Was impatient from the beginning and did a bad job overall. I mean look, I don’t expect every server to be happy that they are waiting on my table because stuff happens, maybe its been a long day and they are ready to leave. We came in at 11 so it was kinda late but if they close at 2 then its not really that late. My water glass was COMPLETELY empty for the second half of my meal which is not entirely his fault except if he checked on our table more than once towards the end of the meal, he would have noticed that I had no water. Then to sweeten the deal, he threw our check on the table and walked away. All I’m asking for is service that doesn’t blow, especially at a nice place like this. As far as the food, the lamb rib chops were good although the sauce on the side had no flavor. If you’re highlighting the quality of the lamb that’s fine, just leave the sauce since it doesn’t really add anything. The burger was REALLY good, you can tell they start with a great product

Best filet minion I’ve ever had! Butter garlic on the side gave it an even more amazing taste. Very tender and juicy steak. I went with 3 friends, we all ordered different sides and they were able to split the sides for us so we each had our own plate with the 4 different sides. Lobster Mac and cheese was delectable! Beautiful view of the river walk!

Honestly I felt this place was average for the price. Sure, the service was fantastic, wait-staff was very polite and professional, but the food was slightly above average. I told my dinner partner shortly after the dinner that I would have happily paid $ 25 – 30 for a steak of that quality, but I expected $ 60 quality… which I did not get. I’m not sure what else could have been done with the food quality, and maybe it was the cut(bone-in NY strip) of steak I ordered. But, when I order a medium rare steak, for $ 60 mind you, I expect that meat to «melt in my mouth» with a consistent texture. The meat was a bit tough and didn’t have the texture that made me think, «holy sh*t, this is delicious.» I guess what I’m saying is there was no «wow» factor for the money… food wise.

I have a real problem with the old school style of service that I experienced here. Similarly, I found the drink menu kind of limited. That said, the food was quite good. I had a pork chop and a bunch of sides, and loved everything. Portions were huge, so even if the prices were high, the value was ok. I think a lot of people would probably do well to split entrees to economize and avoid waste. That allows more room for sides, too, of course!

This was our first time in Chicago so naturally we sought out the best steakhouse in the city for dinner. Everyone we talked to recommended Chicago Cut so we made reservations for 2. First of all, they pack you in like sardines but it’s only because the demand for this restaurant is so great. The tables are really close together and it’s hard to maneuver around, especially after q couple of their signature cocktails. The bread was delicious and the salad had the best bleu cheese dressing I’ve ever tasted. The steak was melt in your mouth quality. I ordered the NY strip and my wife had the filet Oscar style. We agreed that both were the best steaks we have ever had. Our waiter was Justin and he was awesome. He found out it was our first time here and took the time to write down local bars for us to visit after dinner. He was personable the whole time and quick to take care of any issues that arose during our dinner. Bottom line was the service perfect? Definitely not. They got my salad dressing wrong and forgot the béarnaise for my steak but who cares? At the end of the day, the food quality far outweighed any mistakes that were made. 5 stars all the way.

Booked this restaurant a month in advance, and left 2 instructions — a table by the window and not near the entrance, and a helpful waiter. Instead when we arrived, an uninterested hostess who barely squeezed out a hello let alone a smile, wandered into the dining area looking bored and pointed at the first table she could find. When I pointed out I reserved a table by the window, and why wasn’t she sitting us at the 2 tables that were free there, she said they were booked. I’m sure you readers are wondering why they weren’t held for us as we booked a month in advance, I wasn’t sure either. After waiting at least 10 minutes for a waiter to serve us, he asked what we wanted to drink. I pointed out it would be helpful if we could see a drinks menu first. He pointed to a drinks special page with about a few cocktails on the table saying ‘here you go’. At this point I had to educate the waiter on his own restaurant by pointing out that the other tables seemed to be getting giving iPads with a full drinks menu on. At this point he shuffled off hopefully embarrassed by his Calamity James-esque service to retrieve us both a proper drinks menu. At this point, I asked to speak to a manager to let him know my frustrations at how the evening was turning out because of their service, which at that point I could only reason by thinking that Mr Bean must have been taken over the running off the restaurant in recent weeks. He retrieved my booking request and hopefully cringed even slightly at the slip up’s which had so far unfolded, and was able to move us to a seat by the window and change our waiter to someone who made it appear he had worked in the restaurant longer than 7 and a half seconds. I thought by that point it might have went ok. One of our appetizers were the sliders which absolutely sucked, so much so I would preferred the bored looking hostess to move us back to the table near the entrance and fly kick me in the process rather than finish them. Funnily enough, the waiter had told us he would put an extra slider on as we would have even numbers for the 2 of us. I felt this was nice of him until I then saw he charged us extra for it. I did e-mail the restaurant about my thoughts on the night, to avoid writing the review. Needless to say they never returned my message, presumably too busy thinking up new and inventive ways to annoy paying customers more. If you’re in Chicago and would like a nice, high end up steak restaurant, I would recommend RPM Steak.

Another Gibson’s wanna be Chicago steakhouse. It is not better than Harry Carays, Mortons, Sullivans, Gene and Geor, Erie, Kinzie, all in the area. Not as good as Gibsons on Rush, and that for the atmosphere. Id say, that Joes is better as is Burkes. But if you are with a date, skip here and go to Bavettes, right around the corner. Bottom line, there are allot of places to get good prime beef, some for less $$, not many for much more $$. Mooooo.

Unfortunately, this place was just all hype. After hearing soooo many good things about this place, we finally got a chance to try it out. It just didn’t live up to its rep of one of Chicago’s best steakhouses. The entire time I was eating my steak I was thinking, I wish I was at Bavette’s instead. It just wasn’t a tasty piece of meat that I was expecting. They did originally bring me out an overcooked piece of meat, but they were able to quickly replace it with the properly cooked steak that I had ordered, but still, my heart was still calling out to another steak place instead. All wasn’t bad though, they started out the meal with a complimentary piece of lamb that was grilled and seasoned to perfection. I mean, that was one of the tastiest pieces of lamb I had ever had. After gobbling down this delicious piece of meat, all I could think is how much better could my ribeye steak be? My wife had disappeared to the bathroom with my daughter to change her diaper when they delivered these pieces of heaven to the table. The thought had crossed my mind of just eating her piece before she got back and not telling her about it! Overall, this place was quite the loud, packed place you would think it would be, but the steaks were just not up to par. Dessert was quite underwhelming too, so I would suggest you not order those. To make up for my steak being improperly cooked, they comp’d us dessert along with my Bro-IL’s birthday dessert. Nothing special there at all. So I know, due to all the hype, you have to come try this place out, but honestly, there are better steak houses out there in the great city of Chicago.

I REALLYREALLY wanted to love this place. I mean, the Blackhawks go here. Every celebrity goes here. Its THE place to be! . Maybe its the place to have a drink. but thats about it. The drink list is pretty expansive. They bring it to you on a tablet. I can’t remember the name of my drink but it was delicious and worth every penny(I think it was $ 15.) Everything about this place comes down to how much everything is. My drink had muddled strawberries and prosecco in it. It was awesome and Id get it again. They have a full bar with a lot of top shelf items, so no problem getting a drink. 1 of the stars I gave are for the drinks The staff is wonderful. Some of the best Ive ever had the pleasure of dining with. They are EXTREMELY attentive. Im giving 1 whole extra star for the staff. Anything you want, anything you need, or even if you just want to chat(if thats your thing), they are there. The food… was disappointing. I frequent Wildfire about 2 – 3 times per month. They make a killer strip steak. cooked to perfection. Just thinking about it makes me drool. This place. my steak was almost doubly the cost of the Wildfire steak I love. at $ 53, I was expecting perfection. Instead I got a fatty, ok cooked piece of meat. Granted I got it cooked medium well(don’t judge) but that doesn’t mean its OK if its charred on the ends. UNACCEPTABLE! For our appetizer we got the Nueske Bacon($ 18). Its pretty much a triple cut piece of pork belly. I felt it wasn’t cooked enough, but had a decent flavor. Our table of 8 got a variety of side dishes to share. We were told that probably 2 of each of the sides would be enough to share. Let me paint you a picture… you know when you go to a restaurant and you get french fries and they give you that small silver ramekin on the side filled with ketchup? That is the size of the side of $ 9 mashed potatoes. Well we got 2 of those to share between 8 people. Same with the Lobster mac and cheese($ 19. yes, you read that right $ 19), and the brussels sprouts($ 9). It wasn’t nearly enough. But let me tell you. the sides were DELICIOUS. Like, top notch, you are not going to find better. The last star I gave is for the flavor of the sides. Not the price or the size. I mean. c’mon. It was like 1oz of potatoes for 8 people. I got 2 bottles of Pinot Gris for the table($ 70 each) and it was one of the best Pinot Gris Ive ever had… no problems there. I wanted to get a good wine and the wait staff was very helpful with that. They knew about flavor profiles, etc. Our bill was about $ 900+tip. so not really bad for the amount of people we had. If you can get a reservation, I guess you should try it and decided for yourself. Id go back if someone else was paying for the food… or if it was just for one of those delicious drinks at the bar. Btw. Kudos for having purse holders. The last thing I want to have to do is put my expensive purse on the floor.

FABULOUSEXPERIENCE at Chicago Cut! We celebrated my dear brother’s 40th birthday this past Monday night and from the moment I made the Rez I knew it was going to be a great night. First of all, the location and Christmas décor can not be beat. Although it is a big bustling Chicago steak house, the décor made it seem so comfy and cozy and perfect for Christmas week:) Upon walking in, the hostess informed us that our table wasn’t quite ready so we went into the bar and ordered drinks. Our large party of 9 all ordered different drinks from cosmopolitans, old fashioneds, wine, beer, vodka cocktails, the whole NINE. The bartender prepared our amazing drinks lighting fast I couldn’t believe it! Not to mention the old fashioned that I was sipping on was both delicious and STRONG…2 of those suckers and I was feeling fine! As we were seated we were met by the most wonderful waitress, WENDY. Best service I have ever received. Hands down. She was a delight and was more than happy to accommodate our large party. Get this: I complimented her Chicago pin on her jacket as she was taking my order… then BOOM she gave all the women in our party one. It was the nicest thing I’ve ever seen! Food wise: the menu is pretty substantial. All your bases are covered from steak to seafood to amazing sides. I went with the bone in dry aged rib eye which was cooked perfectly and HUGE. Between my fiancé and I, I think we had the whole cow. For sides we ordered green beans, Mac n cheese, and scalloped potatoes. All were equally bomb with a special shout out to the Mac and cheese! As I mentioned we were celebrating my brother’s birthday… and actually my sisters as well. Wendy came over and asked me on the down low which types of cake they would want… with NO shortage of options. I picked the pumpkin cheesecake for my bro, and the mint chocolate chip ice cream and cake for my sister. Both deserts came to the table with a candle as we sang HAPPYBIRTHDAY. It couldn’t be any more perfect. The deserts were AMAZING… I’m still thinking about that cheesecake 3 days later. All in all we had a completely memorable night. I will recommend Chicago Cut to anyone celebrating anything or just a night out;) Thank you again to Wendy, who deserves a waitress of the year award. I can’t wait to return to Chicago Cut. Merry Christmas!!!

7 pm Saturday night reservations. Got there right on the dot. $ 14 for valet. eh… I guess that’s good for the city right? Walked in and got seated. Our view was so pretty. It was around Christmas so all the lights were up. This place is right next to the river so I could imagine going in the summer when we could sit out on the patio. Right away, we got water and we had Ted(our waiter), asking if we had been there before. Since we hadn’t we got the whole spiel. Afterwards we started off with a bottle of The Prisoner by Orin Swift, which is one of my favorite wineries. We selected the wine off of an iPad wine list, I don’t know how I feel about that. I know a lot of places have been doing that but I think I prefer a wine list on a paper menu. To start off we got some oysters. Ted suggested we get Kumamoto Oysters(West Coast). He explained the difference between west coast and east coast oysters, basically west coast oysters are sweeter. Works for me! It was my first time trying them, so I doused them in lemon and hot sauce. Not bad. haha For dinner, we had steak, DUH! My boyfriend got a nice Bone-In Rib Eye and I got a the 8oz. Center Barrel Cut filet mignon. Both steaks were fall off the bone, melt in your mouth, spectacular! They were cooked perfectly, his medium rare, mine medium. For a side dish we shared truffle mashed potatoes, my mouth is watering as I type this. They were so good! For desert we had key lime pie, not a fan, but it was tasty. Overall the food was outstanding. Ted our waiter was awesome, a little overwhelming, like he was lurking behind us just waiting for us to want something but very nice and professional. No doubt that I will be returning to Chicago Cut and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great steak. I’ve read the reviews on the burgers and I would love to try one!
