I am a big fan of acupuncture and while I’ve tried many, I had not yet found someone who really cares about being a partner in my health until I started working with Kate. The atmosphere overall is very laid back so it’s a great place to go if the idea of acupuncture seems at all intimidating. She’s very kind and warm and looks at health holistically – she values the expertise of western medicine just as much as her own. I find that perspective refreshing because you know that she’s simply looking to do the right thing for her patients regardless of how the care comes to them.

As a first-timer, I didn’t know what to expect from acupuncture, but I was pleased with the results. I described many(minor) ailments ranging from knee pain to anxiety to tinnitus, and Kate placed about 20 sterile needles at points all over my body. I was surprised not to feel most of them going in; just one felt like the bite of a small mosquito. After 20 minutes of relaxation under soft lights and music, she took the needles out. I felt generally relaxed and good; later, I was much more alert and energetic than I ordinarily would be on a Sunday afternoon. Kate also designed a blend of Chinese herbs for me to use as a dietary supplement at home; they were very effective against minor digestive problems I often encounter. In all, it was a good experience, and I’d like to make it a regular part of my health regimen.

The Cloud Gate Acupuncture office is warm and comfortable and after meeting Kate — you know you are in the right place. Kate is wonderful: attentive, thoughtful and knowledgeable. Acupuncture treatments and herbal remedies have been extremely helpful. The location is also very convenient, just a few blocks from the Southport El station next to the Music Box.
