Definitely the best bar in Lakeview. The best pizza I have ever had. My favorite was the prosciutto because of the truffle oil and arugula. The servers and bussers are the best!

They have a great happy hour! Apps and pizzas are so good! We live nearby and frequently stop in for dinner and drinks. At times the service is great but all in all great bar!

I feel bad for this review. I want to like this place but was disappointed. Here’s the good stuff: The staff was attentive and nice. The pizza was good. There’s a wide selection of beer. Nice, clean interior. Prices are fair. The not good stuff: I sat the furthest from the door as possible and nearly froze. Even my boyfriend was cold. Someone else had kept their hat on. And the water in the bathroom sink stayed frigid. It was uncomfortable enough to want to leave. Can’t…feel…my toes. The chicken tenders were rubbery. Chick Fil A’s are better. The music played between football games was angsty, sad-teenager-like. People were here to have fun and watch football… wistful Smashing Pumpkins doesn’t help. Maybe I came on a bad day but I’m not sure I’d go back.

I love Compass!!! Go to this place. They have the best black bean burger i’ve ever had(literally dream about it). Their sweet potato fries are also awesome and so is the pizza. And they’re a Badger bar! On Wisconsin!

Finally a perfect establishment at that location. I’ve lived in the area after that place has changed names 3 times and Compass is finally here to stay. Delicious pizza and food, great beer menu, nice staff, and a relaxing environment for good conversation. Good for watching sports games too. If you’re not into sports, you might want to check if a game is on before you go because it does get a bit crowded.

Very professional very fun. It was my girlfriends 30th birthday and I wanted to surprise her. She lives craft beer so I saw that this place has 200 craft beers. I called and spoke to Patrick. He is phenomenal. He said he could get us half the restaurant to accommodate 30 people. Price– very great. Each person paid $ 20 for unlimited buffet style of pizza wings and salad Quality– sooo good. The pesto asparagus pizza and the Thai chicken wings were the best. My girlfriend had mole, habanero and coffee craft beers and loved the mole one. Quantity– everyone left stuffed Atmosphere– love the TVs everywhere as well as the simple décor. Huge bar. Staff– great. Patrick and Danielle were so awesome and attentive. We definitely remember the service. If you want sticky floors go to duffys. If you want to relax go to compass.

I have been wanting to try Compass Bar for months and I’m so glad I finally made it in last night! It’s a cute spot tucked away on Diversey not far from the lake. There’s a big patio outside and the bar itself is nicely decorated with dark wood, hightop tables, and enough TVs to enjoy a game without it feeling too«sports bar». My boyfriend and I grabbed a table and immediately started paging through the menu. One thing we both agreed on is that Compass has a ton of great choices for both food and beer. The bottle/can menu was about six pages long and the draft menu was also had a large selection. When it came to food we were totally torn on what to get but ended up going with the Calamari and Buffalo Chicken Pizza. The Calamari was perfectly cooked and I loved the Sweet Thai Chili sauce it was tossed in. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza was honestly out of this world. Neither of us could get enough of it. The crust was crispy and there was a ton of delicious blue cheese on top that was the perfect complement to the buffalo sauce. All of the other pizzas we saw looked delicious and we both agreed we couldn’t wait to go back and try another one!

I really enjoyed their outdoor seating area and the flatbread pizzas I consumed thereupon. Service was a little slow, but it actually matched the Sunday afternoon chill vibe my friend and I were going for. The beer list was unique and the server could easily explain the provenance of the beers on it. I look forward to going back

what’s in that crust… that makes it so delectable? it’s crispy and light and just overall — yum. my calzone was perfectly stuffed(balanced out spinach, mushrooms and onions and just the right amount of the cheese combo). normally calzones come out cheese heavy with a soggy almost undercooked crust. not here — that crust held its own! service was great and love the sidewalk patio — nice change from your back of the house beer garden. wish there was a wider selection of food(read: vegi friendly food) but alas, this is a pizza bar after all.

Tasty, but expensive food. We rolled up on a Saturday night and sat outside. They have a nice, long list of beer available, and I went with the Ale Asylum Ambergeddon for $ 6. On Saturdays, they have $ 6 chicken tenders, so we ordered that. They were good, but you don’t get many. If you were paying full price($ 10), they’re absolutely not worth it. For dipping sauces, Sweet Thai Chili and BBQ are the winners. The teriyaki tasted really syrupy and the buffalo sauce was very watery. We also ordered pizzas. I got the Italian(Italian Sausage, Prosciutto, Roasted Red Pepper, Basil, Provolone, Fresh Mozzarella). It was pretty light and tasty. They do a good job of not overcooking the crust. It had a good amount of cheese and the sauce was on the sweet side. I’m not sure it was worth $ 14, but I enjoyed it. Your best bet is to visit M-F, 4 – 6 p.m. for half-price pizzas. Props to Compass for making bar food that actually tastes pretty good. I’ll be back.

So I must have passed this place like 20 times before I finally stopped in. My friend and I were craving some drinks and apps. It’s a good sized place and the open outdoor patio drew us in. They also had a big screen tv outside for those on the patio to enjoy… very nice touch. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Their beer selection is just fantatic – craft beers galore! I got my favorite, Sierra Nevada, while my friend got a Cosmo(she’s not much of a beer fan, boooo). We ordered the Parmesan Truffle fries and the Sweet Potato fries. The Parmesan ones were okaaaay, but I really loved the Sweet Potato fries. They were big portions for both orders though, which was awesome. This place is pretty reasonably priced for the amount of food that came in the apps, plus 3 drinks – all under $ 40. I really want to come back and try their pizza. It seems like quite the crowd favorite. Compass, you’re doing well. I shall return!

I came in for lunch/brunch yesterday with my french bulldog having found this place on a website of dog-friendly restaurants. They welcomed us onto the patio and they brought over some ice water for Henry. The food was great! I had one of the brick oven pizzas(which are the speciality of the house) and it was delicious — thin crust, cooked to perfection. My husband had an omelette which arrived overflowing with cheese! I had a few beers as they have a great draft and bottle selection. This was a great place to relax outdoors, enjoy some lunch, and hang with the pooch!

pretty good little bar for the neighborhood. I cannot stand duffys and michael’s gets pretty full, so i come here for the drinks. Relatively cheap, and I know they have specials and the food is good. The bartenders were good with us, and made good drinks, enough alcohol, and even told us the kitchen was closed when we came but offered us pizza if we were hungry. I’ll come back here to try the menu

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this place since it’s newer to the neighborhood. We were watching the Hawks game outside, kind of a bummer they couldn’t pipe audio like other bars in the city, but whatever it’s not like speech or anything. I liked the indoor décor and vibe. Food was delish and service was great. I can’t wait to come back and try some more items from the menu. Manager seemed nice too.

Food is good, but we were very disappointed when they closed the doors to the patio during a hawks Stanley cup finals game, leaving us with a TV with no audio. Apparently everyone inside was cold. Hi – we’re on the patio and it’s colder out here-I promise you as I type this with my frozen finger.

I came. . I saw…I liked! We stopped in here to catch the Hawks play offs and was a great choice! Plenty of TV’s so there is not a bad seat in the house. And the food? Upscale for a bar. While they still have pizzas there are plenty of other options including BRUNCH! Did someone say omelette? I ended up going with the cobb salad which was huge. Paired that with a bloody Mary and I was one happy girl! Others in our group had the turkey burger, the omelette, and the chicken sandwich and everyone was pleased with their choices. Our server was very good too. Pleasant and quick, especially given how packed this place was. We also met the owner, Pat, who was very pleasant and welcoming to our group. And if dining al fresco is your thing, the patio out front might just be your new favorite place. They also do delivery through Grub Hub so all the bases are covered. If there is a downside, it is one that every place in this area shares and that is a lack of available parking if you drive. i circled for a while and then gave up on the street and parked a few blocks away in the garage off of Broadway. Should have just started there as it was not that expensive either. Set your compass to the Compass Bar and sit awhile and grab a beer. You may have just found your true North!

This is a cute little bar with a nice outdoor patio you can sit at. They have quite a few TVs even though it wasn’t what I would consider a sports bar. I felt it was a step above your traditional sports bar. A nice intimate atmosphere, fairly dark with tealight candles on all the tables. Huge selection of alcohol. Both drafts and cans/bottles at a fair price. Their food is nothing special. Typical bar food selections pizza, burgers, etc. I’d go here again if I was in the neighborhood, not one I’d go out of my way to come back to though

My companion and I were being complete and utter lazy bastards this past Saturday when we realized an entire day flew by and we hadn’t eaten anything. It was about 6pm and after deciding on pizza, we wanted the closest place possible(clearly still feeling lazy) and low and behold Compass appears. When we go in and we were immediately greeted by the hostess. Since it was relatively empty, she said we could sit anywhere. The décor seemed pretty standard for a sports bar type place, but the feeling was more chill and intimate… like most neighborhood bars. There were quite a few college football games on on their many tv’s during our visit. We looked at the menu and were immediately impressed with their craft beer list(yessssss!) and were tempted with their Craft Beer Bucket special, but alas, we decided to be «good» and just have a drink each. Their menu of food wasn’t extensive, but everything we saw sounded great, but we came here for the pizza! We ordered the Italian pizza since the description sounded like it was chock full of flavor. The pizza came out to us rather quickly, in about 10 minutes, and sure enough, it was tasty! While our visit was relatively«to the point,» we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The overall atmosphere was chill, the service was great, and the facilities were clean. I can see us coming back pretty soon, especially since it’s so close!
