Just enjoyed breakfast with my family. This is as kid friendly as it gets. My sons are 9 years old, and worked through their orders with the waitress. She was patient and has obviousely worked with kids. Food was great for breakfast, portions are BIG, so you’re going to be filled. Just watch for the coffee guy, he keeps the cups constantly filled so over consumption is likely. Great Chicago breakfast place. We’ll certainly be back here.

Our friends recommended this place. They used to live in the neighborhood but return for delicious breakfast meals prepared here. I ordered the Asada Hash and it was delicious. I’m a meat and potatoes kind of of gal so this hit the spot. My husband got the Pulled Pork Benedict and devoured it. He also orders the Johanna juice and it was a great blend of fruit in a generous serving. One of our friends enjoyed the Hangover Chiliquiles and The Bomb. I tasted one of the tortilla chips with chorizo from his plate and I can understand why it’s a favorite by many. Our other friend ordered the Azteca Omelette with a side of mole sauce. Oh man, that mole sauce… it needs to packaged and sold. It is uh-mazing. The wait staff was attentive to our empty coffee cups and efficient in their service. Can’t wait to return in the future.

I had to change this to five stars, as it’s my favorite neighborhood breakfast house. First, I appreciate how nice the family is that owns and runs it. In addition, I always get a solid meal that is fresh, hot and delish! I’m eating healthier these days, so I usually go for the avocado omelette with egg whites, chicken sausage, pepper jack cheese, and an awesome homemade salsa. I’m get it with fruit and whole grain toast, but it normally comes with potatoes and pumpkin muffin. Enjoy!

The best diner food I have ever eaten. It’s so hard to choose off the menu each time I go there, because I love everything, but two favorites are the Enchiladas Mamacitas and the Hill Country Benedict. Absolutely delicious!

I love brunch, its a Midwest meal that has exploded into something bigger, a better experience if you have not had breakfast. First I have to say if you do not like diners do not go here, since you probably like some fancy restaurant. I’ll rate three things; food and drink, service, and presentation. Food: I had the Soy Hangover Chilaquiles. I would say I really like the flavor, the lemon juice brings it out big time. It was a lot of food and for being only $ 12 I think that is a great value. The guacamole dip they provide on the top is on point, and I am a huge fan of guacamole dip. Many of the chips are crispy but some are soggy, but a good soggy because of the sauce. The eggs were cooked as expected with that ooey goodness of the egg yolk going all over the sauce, just yum. How would I improve? I would say for my meal probably more Soy meat, I feel the soy was just to small to even taste. In addition, they say they charge more for add ons, they really do not as I am aware of since the bill did not reflect that. Drink: My friend I went with is a huge coffee nut, I consider him a coffee snob but who doesn’t like a good cup of coffee right? He ordered regular coffee, first cup tasted burnt. Second cup, tasted so bitter and third cup tasted bitter and was not even fresh. Then he ordered a Latte and I am a huge fan of lattes. This lattes was basically Nescafe. Yeah I’m going to a restaurant and I thought heck this place is a brunch place they should have a good cup of coffee, boy were we both wrong. Stay away from coffee. Service: Nice greeter, sat us right away with a smile and I like that. Second, our waiter was very nice and professional, food came quick and order was taken in a appropriate amount of time. I would give service 5 stars here. Presentation: The cooks really know how to design plates, I would say this is also another one of their strong points. I love the plate designs and that is something that will blow you away. All in all; food was decent, coffee not great, service on point and presentation on point. I give that three stars.

This place was so yummy and portion sizes are huge! I had the montecristo Benedict and my hubby had the chiliquilles and it was so good! Service was friendly and very quick! We will be back for sure! Also free parking… that’s an added bonus!

We happen to find out about this place by accident. Out of town friends do told us they tried to get in but the wait was too long so they left. We decided to try it out as soon as they opened and thank goodness we did because it filled up quick! The food here is amazing and also the customer service. I ordered the chorizo hash and it was delicious and my partner ordered the breakfast mole enchiladas. Those enchiladas were amazing! The mole was as good as my grandma use to make it. Go to this place early and try their amazing menu.

My wife and I are regulars at this place. We moved away from the area and still make the drive back weekly for brunch. Prices are reasonable, portions are great, service is prompt, and the restaurant is always clean. The wait is never too long even though they are always super busy. I’m a big fan of the avocado omelet and the esquite hash. Love this place!

To you I say this, my dear… I love you. What treasures you promise. The golden eye has shone. Deliverance! The ecstasy to which I speak refers to your chilaquiles. May we be together forever and ever.

What a great little find! My friends and I came upon this place while we were waiting for the Half Acre tour to start. This place has a great vibe, traditional diner with booths and tables, and food with Mexican American influences. The dishes are all reasonably price, huge portions, and tasted super homemade. Everyone raves about the Hangover Chilaquiles, my friend got that and was definitely not disappointed. Super cheesy, very yummy. I personally ordered their corn beef hash and was pleasantly surprise when the dish came. Two eggs on top, the hash itself is a mixture of potatoes, corn beef and broccoli. Love love the fact that they added some veggies into the dish. Flavors were bold, corn beef not too salty, and great combination. Everyone’s dishes looked great. They were really kind. Great service and the waiter with the coffee cup was on point. My cup never went empty. I would definitely recommend this place to those in the area.

Don’t judge this book by its cover. Danny’s Egghead Diner may look a little old with fairly boring furniture, but the food is not only excellent, but relative to the other local breakfast diners, extremely reasonably priced. The value/quality quotient here is staggering. Staff is always friendly and most importantly, highly efficient. Love this place. Get the Steak and Eggs, you’ll understand completely what I’m talking about.

OK, I had one too many last night, and even though the ending of daylight savings gave us one additional hour of sleep, it didn’t help me too much. Bearing that in mind, I woke up Jonesing the«Danny’s Hangover Chilaguiles» so many Unilocal reviewers have raved about. I’d had Danny’s Egghead Diner bookmarked for months, and today was the day to bite the bullet. The dish has a base of fried corn tortilla chips that are covered with a tomatillo/chipotle sauce(with your choice of pork or soy chorizo). Its sprinkled with queso fresco and topped with two fried eggs, a drizzle of sour cream, and some guacamole. In case you care(and many of you probably don’t), here’s the 411 on why this dish might help reduce some hangover symptoms. It’s a well-known fact that substances such as salt, vinegar, and water can help your body rebalance some of the lost electrolytes and sodium resulting from being overly buzzed on alcohol. The tomatillos are full of antioxidants, and last, but not least, eggs contain helpful amino acids to increase liver function. Add in some hot papers, and you may just start feeling a little better. Service was very prompt and efficient, especially considering the large crowd having Sunday brunch. The price point is well justified for the quality. In fact, just ignore those haters that complain about the price. Danny’s Egghead may have that«diner» feel to it, but what comes out of the kitchen is far from” greasy spoon” cuisine. You want fresh, quality ingredients prepared to order, be prepared to pay a few cents more. I’m back here soon to try some other menu items.

Throughout the last 3 years, we have consistently returned to Danny’s for their chilaquiles, omelets, coffee, and service. This unique breakfast place boasts a friendly sophistication. Think: mom and pop diner from the past and a James Beard award-type vibe from the food. The pork-shoulders, asadas and tomatillo salsitas play so well with the tried and true eggs, bacons and hashbrowned potatoes! There are some highbrow American-Latin fusion concepts going around in these vinyl and pressed wood booths. You should definitely check it out and support these great people doing exceptional work.

This place a good place to try out ! I got the chchilaquiles and they were good but the main thing that made them stand out was the guacamole . Pancakes are fluffy but they had a odd smell to them, I dunno if it was just the batch mix that day or just a random fluke . The potatoes are good but are lacking flavor. They are colored as if there is a huge punch of flavor but they don’t deliver.

It seemed like people were into Danny’s so finally, we got there. It is after all 2 blocks away from our new place. And SOGLAD we did! Lots of things sounded good on the menu, but we ordered the Hangover Chilaqiles, and biscuits and gravy. I had the Chilaqiles first, and I was blown away by them! The flavors were perfectly balanced. It had a dark chorizo sauce but not too much chorizo. A layer of queso fresco under the eggs. A dollop of excellent guacamole on top served as the ideal flavor addition! Great texture too. Can’t wait to have that again. After that yummy plate, the biscuits and gravy were really good, but not quite as exciting. Service was perfect. Setting just a classic. So happy this is in my neighborhood!

This place really threw me for a loop. I thought I knew what I was getting to with all of the hullabaloo about diner coffee. But this place really killed it. I don’t know what eh put in their coffee is good. Everyone in our group got some variety of burrito but let me tell you there wasn’t a word being spoken because we were all ravenously eating the delicious food. I will say the vibe at the place is weird. They advertise as a juice bar but you can’t help but feeling like you are in the 70s so ordering a kale, spinach, and apple smoothie seems like a weird order instead of apple juice. They also have a chill hipster music vibe going on inside. So be open the food is great. Not necessarily what your grandmother is expecting.

Very happy we finally stopped by for brunch last weekend. I had to try the hangover chilaquiles and my husband got one of the Specials(hash that had steak is all I remember). Staff was friendly and food had great flavors. I had too high of expectations for the hangover chilaquiles but they were still very tasty. I had a few bites of my husband’s hash and I preferred his meal over mine with the chunks of potatoes, steak, veggies, and salsa! Definitely recommended for breakfast or brunch! Note– not for the«plain American breakfast» lovers of bland eggs and toast, their flavors will be too much for you!

Part of Thanksgiving week is the inevitable slowdown in some areas of life, and the increased pace of others. When you’ve got a morning free, why not skip out and enjoy breakfast served by somebody else? I spotted this diner near the late, lamented Lincoln Restaurant. Danny’s is just west of the intersection of Lincoln/Damen/Irving Park, which is a traffic nightmare all too often. But Danny’s Egghead is a pleasant, large space, sure to take away any traffic stress you might have felt. I spotted it on a drive-by and resolved to stop soon. The space is large, airy and pleasant. Service is very fast. I went in, planning to gorge myself on an omelet, when I saw they had something called«hangover chilaquiles.» It’s been years, literally, since I had chilaquiles. And lo and behold, you could get it with soy chorizo, as well as the real dead stuff! Decision made. This was a good meal. My only complaint, and it’s minor, is that it wasn’t very spicy. I probably could have asked for some hot sauce, but I didn’t. The chilaquiles are topped with a delicious guacamole, and the two eggs were cooked perfectly. The whole thing really was very good, just not great. Based on this good experience, I’m looking forward to visiting Danny’s again.
