I asked for 2 packs of Newport 100 the NOTTRAINED overnight attendant gave me Newport No Menthol. I was buying for someone else so I did not know difference. I gave the guy $ 15 in cash and my debt card to cover balance. Response I know there is a way to do a cash and card sale but I don’t know how. So I paid all with card.(Management should be ashamed leaving someone to tend to a business that does not know what he or she is doing. He is not the first clerk that has had this problem at this place before). Send a friend back over to exchange he said he could not do it. It had to be me. I then went back myself dropped the wrong cig in the widow slot and said they are the wrong ones I need Newport 100. He then proceeded to refuse to exchange. I was in a state of disbelief. I pressed him he scolded me and started pointing his finger at me I pressed him more and he then proceeded to begin to come out of the locked area and threatened to beat me up. I believe the problem here was he did not know how to do a refund. All he would say is that I had to come back in the morning. At this point I felt I was in danger of being beat up by the local Citco night clerk. Real nice treatment for a neighbor who lives across the street and is a regular customer of the place. Once again management should be ashamed. #1 to leave someone on an overnight that can’t handle a refund. #2 to hire someone who would actually come out behind a gun proof protected area and beat me up because I was asking for simple customer service. This person has no right working here. I felt 100% threatened. My next step was to call the police.

Very dishonest people work and run this place. Even though their gas prices are cheap, I would not purchase anything here.

There is 3 stars for the petrol station, but there is 3 stars for the auto repair garage in the back that is very well hidden. 3STARS: The front brakes on one of the kids was acting weird. I needed the help RIGHTTHEN. Frank says he’s been in the same location since 1976(when elephant ear slacks & large fly away shirt collars were the thang). No cars waiting, so he took me right in. Found out I needed a caliper/brake pads. I walked to Auto Zone on Granville, bought everything dirt cheap(thank you HugoHunk Calderon), walked back & within ½ hour everything was done. He only charged $ 150 for the labor. Cost was ok considering I was in a bad situation with no brakes at all. If you live in the area & you can’t drive your vehicle far because you need immediate help, call Frank at the Citgo Garage 773.973.4995. I do remember he did tell me that he’s only there until 5 pm, Mon-Sat but stops work at 4pm. You tell him what you’re working with & go from there. 4STARS: It’s some of the cheapest gas on the north side without crossing into Evanston. It’s cheaper than the Shell & Marathon stations on Clark. Yes just like the other reviewer said, they can be mean. But there is ONE guy there named«Roni». He’s ALWAYS A SWEETHEART. Always smiles, says hi/thank you/goodbye. Cute skinny hunk of fur he is! Ahmed does need customer service training. He’s one of those that you use a monotone/robot voice for. Kinda makes you think he doesn’t like people. Another thing(which I guess some petrol stations do to cut costs) is the squeegie thing. I went to use it; fell off in my hand. I could do nothing but laugh. Probably best you don’t use it because they don’t put windshield wiper solvent in the thing; it’s plain ol’ water that get dirty after other people have cleaned their windows. They lose a star for Ahmed’s lack of friendliness and broken squeegies/dirty water. Roni is the reason why 3 stars is it. So if you need to get a tad bit of petrol to stay off empty, it wouldn’t hurt to come here.

I want negative stars! Ok, I know gas stations aren’t known for their customer service, but they should know that there’s a gas station on every corner. Though they’re the closest to me, I’m done with them! I get stuff from the convenience store almost daily, and when I need gas, I get it here too. Service: ranges from bad to offensive. Last trip here I came to the counter and the guy wouldn’t even acknowledge me. I waited – figured he’s dealing with the guy at the next window. A few min later, he says, «yes mam» in a tone that suggests he’s been waiting for me. I buy my stuff and he doesn’t slide it through the glass. I try to get it and he rolls his eyes as he pushes it under the glass. That’s just this time… I wont bother you describing all the other experiences. Gas pumps: the automatic stop doesn’t work on two of the pumps I know of. One created a pool of gas under my car that I of course had to pay for(and the person working didn’t think of it as a big deal) and another pump did the same to some other guy(who got the same treatment as I).

The owner of this business told me to FUCKOFF tonight, after AAA arrived and helped me with a flat tire. My boyfriend and I went to the neighborhood Citgo where we had gone many times before, knowing that they have an air machine. It was broken, and so we tried to change the tire where we were stopped, when the car jack slipped on the slushy ground and punched a hole through the bottom of the floorboard. Freezing, we went inside to explain why our car was parked where it is, and explained to the worker that we called for help but with the weather, AAA was estimating a wait time as long as 4 hours. AHMED, the only worker there, said that he doesn’t know when his boss is coming back, doesn’t have a contact number for him, and just kept saying«I don’t know, I don’t know,» so we walked home the 3 blocks to make signs to post on the car while we wait for help. When we got back, the owner had called the cops because was supposedly getting a shipment of gasoline(on a Saturday night, in subzero temps, yeah right) and the cops told me that he was going to call to have my car towed if I don’t move it. The owner would not at first even LOOK at me – until I demanded that he speak to me, not my boyfriend, as I am the owner of the vehicle. He reluctantly looked vaguely in my direction, then cut me off repeatedly saying that I need to move my car, he doesn’t care that moving it will damage the car further, etc. He later insulted my boyfriend saying disgusting things about me. It’s sad that I try to support locally owned businesses, but when I am in need of help, in the freezing cold, and I have already done what I can to take care of my problem, someone has to verbally assault us. After my AAA knight in shining armor came and lifted the car, removed the broken jack and changed my tire, I drove away saying, «Thanks for nothing, Mean Owner!» and he TOLDMETOFUCKOFF. So that’s what this business owner does to his frequent customers — doesn’t try to help, calls the cops on you, calls Lincoln Towing(who never showed up) and verbally assaults his customers. Never again will either of us spend our dollars there.

Devon Citgo is conveniently located at a 4-way intersection; so when I stopped here to gas-up during morning rush-hour traffic, I made sure to exit on the East-side of the station… which grants you your very own stop-sign. If you exit South-wards out of the station, you might just sit there for a while, as Devon is busy busy busy with traffic. I have stopped here quickly to fuel-up twice so far, & each time I was the only car in the station lot. Easy-in, easy-out.
