I work with lots of industry people, and stage managers, and party planners.
I really WANT to like this place! They *CAN* do some great stuff …
but I spent 15 minutes on the phone trying to figure out who the hell to even talk to, no one was present to help … no one answered their phones … the list of extension options only give names …
like I am going to know who the f@#$ to talk to?
I literally tried 9 different names, and extensions … it is sadly the stupidest I have EVER heard for a phone switchboard.
Maybe they have the attitude that they don’t want small customers … well you know what?
One single phone call, received well, is the exact person that will have you do a wedding later that year.
No, sorry, not mine! :D
I called them because I have had friends that worked there, and wanted to give them business, after reading the negative review about paper lanterns, I see that it doesn’t matter how good this place CAN be, it matters how good it is right out of the gate.
Sorry EC, I hope you read this and change your user interface.
There’s no need for someone to have f’ed up paper lanterns, or a hard time simply CALLING you!

We worked with Event Creative for our wedding last month at the Museum of Contemporary Art, with a reception at Spiaggia Restaurant. We cannot say enough positive things about Jesse and Ashlie. After meeting with a couple other companies, meeting with Jesse and explaining our vision to him was a delight. He didn’t try to steer me away from what I wanted and seemed to really just listen to our ideas. When we returned soon after our initial consult to view a sample preview of our floral, I was speechless at how spot-​on the presentation was. Jesse completely nailed our vision — I actually had tears in my eyes after seeing how beautiful our floral design would be. Day-​of, everything went flawlessly; it rained all day but they were able to execute our indoor plan without a hitch. When there wasn’t enough lily of the valley available for my bouquet week-​of due to weather issues, I wasn’t phased – I trusted Jesse and his team to create a fabulous alternative and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s been about a month and guests are still talking about how amazing the décor was. I would recommend Jesse and EC to anyone with no reservations :)

I used Event Creative for my daughter’s wedding and reception at the Adler Planetarium. In December my daughter and I met with Jessie Deckard to discuss flowers and lighting for her May wedding. My daughter told Jessie what she did and did not like and that she wanted it to be magical with lights, spheres, and flowers. She showed him inspirations but was clear that she did not want him to take it literally. A month later we came back to view the sample table and lighting. He got it exactly. He had listened to what she wanted and gave here exactly what she had dreamed.
The wedding was supposed to be outside but an hour before guests were to arrive the wind was blowing the ceremony décor all over the place. I spoke with Jessie and it was agreed to move the ceremony inside to the Grainger Sky Theatre. He transformed that space with the trees and topiary, meant for outside, and the perfect lighting in less than an hour. It was magical to see her walk down the aisle in the lit domed theatre.
The dinner was held in part of the atrium part of the Adler that over looked the Chicago skyline. The tables were beautiful with vases of flowers, spheres, and candlelight. Candles in glass jelly jars were suspended from the ceiling along with large crystal and metal spheres.
Jessie helped us pick out colors for table linen and to make decisions about light color choices for the Welcome Gallery and Grainger Sky Threatre.
He was pleasant to work with and listened to our concerns and answered our questions.
Her bouquet was fabulous. The tables were spectacular. The lighting was magical.
I highly recommend Event Creative to help with your lighting and floral needs.

After seeing the other reviews, I’m guessing we received TERRIBLE service because all we did with them were hanging, paper lanterns… nothing extravagant. However to us, it was very important as it was the center piece to the room i.e. dance floor for our wedding. After transferring our account to 3 different people, having to explain what we wanted and what we expected to pay to those 3 different people, the only thing they did correctly was the put up and tear down times. That’s it. They lost our deposit, never reached out to us to tell us they never received it, didn’t put up the agreed upon # of lanterns, and had to re-​do the entire hanging after my husband walked in before the wedding and it was NOTHING as we had described (3 times).

Awful people. Unorganized, dangerous and unprofessional. I feel sorry for anyone who works for these people.

They are the absolute best for weddings. We had a large wedding party at the Museum of Contemporary Art and they turned the entire first floor into our vision: a Vegas night club. Everything was not only perfect and creative, but also reflected the themes and directions we provided them. They are spectacular and can’t recommend them enough.

My husband and I ordered benches from Event Creative for our wedding at A New Leaf on October 17, 2008. Event Creative was awesome to deal with. I contacted them a little more than a month before the wedding date after finding them in a panicked Google search for «furniture rental benches Chicago.» Within 48 hours of contacting them, I had received two phone calls and an e-​mail containing suggested selections for my event. After a year of dealing with unresponsive vendors, I was surprised by the level of service I was receiving for four measly benches. (Note: They DO NOT have a minimum for furniture rental — Rock On!) I had a signed contract within a week without ever even speaking to our sales rep, Phil Cooper, in person.
The furniture looked GREAT in A New Leaf. It provided just the right amount of cool lounge that I wanted. I wish that there would have been room for more. There were guests’ butts parked on them all night. When I saw my friend’s mom after the ceremony she said something to the effect of, «You look great! Excuse me, I’m going to get one of the good seats!»
My day of coordinator handled all of the deliveries and tear downs and said that all that went well, so their customer service appears to be above par across the board.
