The team at Eye Mechanix took great care of all of my vision related needs today. I called the day before and easily got an appointment. Dr. Randy used modern, sanitary, and accurate equipment to examine my eyes. He was both friendly and professional and answered all of my questions thoroughly. John was patient and knowledgable when helping me pick out a new pair of frames. They happily emailed me over a form I needed for the DMV within an hour of my leaving the store. I would highly recommend Eye Mechanix with no hesitations!

I was so happy when I stumbled across Eye Mechanix last year. I’ve been twice since and have two pairs of great glasses. The offices are friendly and clean, and there is a very large frame selection of both funky and traditional glasses. Dr. Randy was very thorough and professional. He was more than willing to give out contact samples too when I had a lot of trouble finding the right type. John and Jamie are very accomodating and patient. I tried on so many glasses, and no one tried to push me out or disrupt my eye glass purchase process. On weekends, the practice is busy, but I’ve never had to wait. I brought my friend in after she complained about going to four other places to find glasses and only finding funky and unflattering hipster frames elsewhere. She found at least three very attractive pairs, and they took both our insurance plans. Another perk is that they have parking! I highly recommend this practice.

Located only a 7 minute walk from the Armitage Brown line, Eye Mechanix was easily accessible and easy to secure an appointment.
From there, check in went smoothly and once I had finished all paperwork, Dr. Ricketts provided me the most comprehensive eye exam and explained what about my eye prescription has changed. He provide clear concise answers to my questions without making it complicated.
I felt well taken care of and instantly trust what was provided at Eye Mechanix. I highly recommend it for your eye exams and choice of contacts and glasses!

I could not have asked for a better eye doctor! He took time to go through every detail so that I knew exactly what was going on with my eyes. Not only that, but everyone that works there is just so Bubbly and welcoming. Even before I asked, they went through different costs, to ensure I got the best deal possible. I loved the eyewear selection. I can be a bit indecisive, and am so grateful for their help and honesty when it came to picking my pair. Highly recommended!

My visit was yesterday, I was in the area, called and was able to come within the hour. That’s what I call efficient! I’m out of contacts after my eye exam since not much has change with my prescription a New order should be in today or tomorrow. Super service, I’m very pleased, I come from a family of optometrists and the staff here is five star indeed!

These guys were so great to my boyfriend. He’s had the same prescription for years and we went here on a whim because we had time to kill, just to talk to somebody. They had time right then for an eye exam and tried a new contacts with a new prescription, my boyfriend keeps mentioning how much better he can see and how comfortable they are. We’re coming back to pick out new glasses for him soon.

I flew in from LA just to see this beautiful optometrist office, for a thorough exam from Dr. RANDY Ricketts. He is so friendly, thorough and knowledgeable. He made me feel so comfortable. He is charming, smart, informative and helpful. I ended up needing a new PX for my lenses. Along with advice and recommendations with thorough instruction for my future of diminishing eye site. Even better, John and Jamie and Randy then helped me pick out fashionable and affordable new frames. And were able to get my new glasses sent priority mail to be back in LA. I LOVE THESE NEW SPEX! They are progressive lenses that change in the light for anti glare and turn into sunglasses automatically. I LOVE THE way they look and have received many compliments since. I highly recommend this cool location in Lincoln Park. Service is there strong suit And I will definitely return to Dr. Ricketts for my future eye care. Prices are fair and the selection is unique and fast! They also have a great reputation and cool logo! Thank you John, Jamie and Randy for Everything!

Very professional service and he was willing to take the time to answer all my questions about eye exams as I’m currently learning how to do these in school. Above and beyond service! Exceptional service from both Dr. Randy and John. I took advantage of the fabulous holiday special they have going on right now, I love my glasses. Their selection is excellent and both John and Dr. Randy helped me pick out the prefect glasses for me. The whole staff went above and beyond. They were all so helpful. Every part of my experience with Dr Randy and his team has been so easy. They have an online scheduling option and are great over email. Dr Randy’s exam was thorough and made me feel like everything that needed to be looked at was checked out. They took the time to locate my insurance and help with trial lenses so I could find ones that really worked for me. Even my husband who only stopped by to pick up my lenses commented how much he liked Eye Mechanix (great looking office space and awesomely nice staff). Need an eye doctor? Give these guys a try!

Dr. Randy and his team are awesome! As soon as you walk through the door you’ll feel like you’re hanging out with old friends and not at the eye doctor! Jamie is super cool and makes the process for new patients a breeze! Dr. Randy delivers a state of the art eye exam while explaining different aspects of the eye without being over complicated or boring. I recently moved to Chicago and had been putting off finding a new optometrist. When my contacts supply dwindled to zero I was finally forced to make a decision.
After reading multiple Unilocal reviews I decided on Eye Mechanix and couldn’t have made a better decision. I, like most, don’t enjoy finding new doctors, but Dr. Ricketts’ friendly staff and operation run seamlessly. They were able to see me right away, fitted me with a new pair of contacts and had my supply re-​filled within the week.

I walked in without the skills to properly identify which glasses would be best for my features. I knew I ‘Liked’ or had bias toward certain attributes, but by the time I left, I learned a lot from John. The office staff is kind and also fun. Jamie is a bubbly personable gal. She took great care of all my needs. Dr. Randy Ricketts and his staff helped me choose a frame that exceeded my expectations. When I got my glasses I was so excited to be able to see better than ever & look better. He also adjusted my contact lens prescription so that they are also better and more comfortable. I went from always wearing contacts, to being a fashionable eyeglasses-​wearer. Totally a fresh look on me and I owe it all to their advice. Now I want to go back and see what we can get me for my next fashionable pair. Dr. Randy Ricketts opened up the door to me wearing glasses and feeling great about it. The glasses really suit me, my face and my personality.

Dr Randy is the best. Very thorough exam utilizing the newest technology available. In the end, the most stress is finding what will be your new look… John helped me visualize the right frame for my face. Pricing is average or below! No more big chains for me. I love this place!!!

Loved this place. Doctor was great and the frames are so wonderful. I have the best looking frames ive ever had. I dont have to wear them all the time but everytime i do, like at the rooftop at Cindys… Two people came up to me and said they loved my frames… makes me feel great. Check them out you will love this place too.

Located in Lincoln Park with a parking lot and easy access from the Armitage #73 bus, at least we have the location issue solved. Open the doors to find an immaculate space with beautiful oriental and floral carpets and you’ll remember you are there to get your eyes checked. The lively colors and comfortable seating make this doctor’s office more of a chic studio than a measurer of cataracts. Gorgeous frames line the walls while the evening sun setting in the west glistens across the glass. I can’t believe I’m in a doctor’s office!
The staff at Eye Mechanix is great. Similar to his office, Dr. Ricketts possesses a whimsical bedside manner. His informed but relaxed approach to his craft is refreshing in the world of bland doctoral farts. The ladies compliment Dr. Ricketts’s attitude nicely with a great level of humor backed with knowledge and a keen fashion sense — an imperative quality in optometry. (Who wants to take frame advice from someone out of touch?) Beth did a great job helping me select a fabulous pair of specs by Iyoko Inyake (e-​yo-​ko een-​ya-​K).
I really like this optometrist for his attitude and the approach to vision. It feels good to see again, thanks to the fun and friendly staff of Eye Mechanix.
