When I first moved to the neighborhood I wanted sushi and I saw this place on Grubhub 1 ½ blocks away from my home so I ordered California Rolls & Tamago nigiri, amazingly well done and Tamago nigiri wasn’t rubbery which impressed me. This is my sushi go to. It’s now named under«Pride» sushi

Update: This restaurant is not closed. The restaurant name has just been changed to Pride Sushi and Thai. Original review: There will never come a time when I’m tired of Thai food and their food is so delicious. I got it from GrubHub just because it was the only place open on New Year’s Eve that would deliver food to me. After that I was hooked. The food is fresh. All of the rolls are delicious. And although I don’t eat meat, I have a mother who is obsessed with the Bento boxes after trying the chicken one once. I’ve gotten deliveries a couple of times and sat in the restaurant two more. The parking is horrible(permit parking from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday through Saturday) so don’t even bother going any other day but Sunday. I also think the butt pillows on the long bench where tables are are pretty comfy. But it’s the food that does it. I think their sweet potato maki rolls are the BEST and I love sweet potatoes but don’t care for tempura. Jokes on me because I was crazy about the stuff. Yum! I’d order here every week if I had the extra income to do so. Outside of parking, I just find it weird that there are photos of Beyonce, Madonna and President Barack Obama by the toilet, especially when there are six blank frames on a restaurant wall. I think they should move those photos out of the bathroom where people can see them.

Just had a great experience at Fishing Cat– Ordered with grub hub and delivery never came. I called the restaurant and the made me another order and delivered in within15 minutes. Fishing Cat has great customer service. The food was delivered hot and it’s really good. Thanks again for a great experience!

The fifth star I give for convenience. I live on the other side of the block from them so I love to pick it up and save myself the delivery charge ;) As for the other four stars, I’ve never had a problem with their food as some other reviewers have mentioned. Everything has always been the correct temperature, they’ve never forgotten anything, we’re always given plenty of extras such as soy sauce, utensils, etc. and they’ve always been super nice. The prices are about average for the rolls they serve, although I should mention that I’ve seen some huge dragon rolls before for about the same price as they charge, and their dragon isn’t as big. Again, convenience and service is huge for me so I’m willing to pay a little extra to support our local sushi joint.

Crab Rangoon very pretty to look at but tasteless. Pad Thai with chicken and tofu was bland, lacked veggies, peanuts or green onions. Sad to say will not order from here again.

I stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago when my boyfriend and his cousins wanted to go out to eat late at night. At close to 11, we were the only customers in the store. Everyone else ordered sushi-related dishes, but I was in the mood for some soup and got the udon. I found myself completely underwhelmed and disappointed by the udon; the soup lacked flavor, and the noodles were so overcooked that they were mushy in texture. I *may* find myself here again if I am ever in need of a late-night place to go, but Fishing Cat probably won’t be a first-choice place for me.

Magnificent, that’s the word I would use to describe the food and delivery. Everything was tasty and properly prepared just the way I like It and it was pretty fast on the delivery. They didn’t leave out any condiments and it wasn’t overly pricey either. Will I go back? Absolutely, If you like Thai and Sushi style then I highly recommend this place as your go to place, try it and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

We had sushi, soup and an entrée. The soup was flavorful but it was too small for the price. Sushi was just okay in terms of the flavor. The serving was small. Entrée was so simple and we tasted too much of the fish sauce. The décor was too dated and they only had one server for a Friday night so it took her a while for her to get our order.

Just had the best lunch at Fishing Cat! I ordered spicy tuna, super white shitake, and sweet potato tempura rolls and my friend had the pad thai. Everything looked wonderful, was very fresh and tasted amazing. I didn’t even ask for the special but the waitress combined two of my rolls that qualified, making the bill cheaper and adding a miso soup. The service was well paced — nice and quick for lunch without feeling like they were rushing you to turn your table over — and really friendly. At the end of lunch they brought a slice of cheesecake with thank you written in chocolate, and they didn’t even know it was my birthday! This may be my new weekday lunch place.

We came here on valentine’s day. There were only 3 tables, 1 chef and 1 waitress. She told us the food was going to take a while so they gave us a free bowl of edamame. However, it was never crowded or more then 4 tables so it shouldn’t have taken as long as it did. Even to pay it was brutally long… and the food wasn’t good enough to make the wait worth while. The tom yum noodle soup was good, but really small for being $ 6. Miso soup was just ok, really really small though. I finished it with 3 bites. Fishing cat sushi was good, and the fire dragon was ok but the salmon lovers wasn’t good at all

It has been a looooong time since I’ve written a Unilocal review, but this wonderful place deserves recognition. Fishing Cat is now my go-to for local sushi and Thai-inspired dishes. Why? Because of the fresh ingredients and spot-on execution of their art. Yes, food art! Every single item I’ve had from Fishing Cat — from sushi to Thai food and more — has been a delight. Pardon me if I keep this review super short, but I just ordered delivery from them and I want to be done with this and ready to eat, the minute it comes to my door. If you choose to dine in, expect a cleanly designed space without kitsch. Comfortable and lovely. Go there or order from there — and enjoy!

Mother-daughter hang out day yesterday. My mom’s a vegetarian. What to do with a house full of meat? THAI! This was my first time ordering from here and the food arrived quickly –45 min or so like the girl on the phone stated. We both ordered Pad Thai with tofu. I used to be a vegetarian for 17 years so I still can appreciate some tofu and /or veggie only food. Probably good to take a little break here and there from meat any-hoo. We both really liked our food. Glad to know there is another good place to go in the area!

At about 6:30 pm, On a Sunday, I ordered Penang curry, egg rolls, and a Spider Maki. I live about 4 blocks away. The confirmation email said I could expect my delivery in 45 minutes to an hour. I received my meal in under 20 minutes. Everything was fresh, hot, and just as I had ordered. The delivery man was polite. What more can you want? I’m glad they’re in the neighborhood.

Recently visited Fishing Cat with a friend after checking out their website. The space the restaurant occupies is your basic Chicago storefront, but the dining room is cute and tastefully decorated. The menu is well-designed and has a great range of choice. We ordered a few rolls and some basic appetizers, and found everything to be tasty, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Very reasonably priced as well. The only drawback is no fault of Fishing Cat’s, but Peterson Road is a construction zone disaster area! I’d say avoid it at all costs, but then you’d miss out on Fishing Cat. Now more than ever they deserve your support, so fight your way through it and you’ll be rewarded!

I have never dined here but I ordered delivery, I’m so happy I did. The thai food was really delicious and so is their thai iced tea! Their logo is so adorable too. I have their takeout menu on my fridge, whenever I see it I go into fits over how freaking cute it is. I also wanted to add– They are now open LATE! Monday-Thursday 11am-3am I placed my delivery order around midnight!

Nothing fancy here, just good Thai and sushi. Tasted the pad Thai and had the Mexican and Spicy Tuna sushi. The Mexican was the best roll I may have ever had. Not one to use hyperbole, it was truly delicious. Kids wanted dessert to end the meal. We got two«scoops» of vanilla and two«scoops» of strawberry. Much to our surprise, the waitress brought the plate out with the Thai ice cream and a chocolate(I think) stencil of me and my two boys below the scoops.(See photo) Really personal and extremely friendly. Good simple food… check it out. BYOB too!

We’ve ordered lunch from Fishing Cat twice. The first time was via Grubhub, the second time we called the order in. I’ve tried the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box and the Beef Teriyaki Box. I preferred the beef. The bento box comes with the teriyaki, rice, salad, tempura, California roll and miso soup. The portions were generous. I also tried a few individual pieces of sushi, including Yellowtail and Tamago. The sushi is good, and generous, but not the best I’ve ever had. I did find the Tamago to be a bit heavier and not quite as flavorful as some I’ve had, but all in all, I like the food from Fishing Cat. I like that Mom and I can make a good and filling lunch sharing a bento box. I like, even more, that the lunch doesn’t break the bank. I will stop in one of these days and check the place out, as it is only a hop, step and a jump from home. I think this spot is a potential winner! P. S. I absolutely LOVE their logo.
