An excellent gift shop with hand-made gifts at a range of prices. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they noted that they sell American made products only. There are many unusual gifts, particularly good for female friends and family members, with jewellery, ornaments, and other craft ware. The selection caters for a wide age range, and probably would be suitable for anyone who likes to buy or give beautiful gifts. Men’s gifts are definitely represented as well. The shop has a hippy vibe and I am sure sustainability is a value which they value. Highly recommended.

What can I say, this place is GREAT! Every year I find some unique gifts to get from here. Everything is handmade and holds a story behind it, which is wonderful. Hands down my favorite store in Lincoln Square. :)

I’ve been a customer, employee(long, long ago when I was in high school and they were on Halsted) and will always be a fan. Pat and Mike are great people and really care about their merchandise, customers and community. If you can’t find it here, you don’t want to give it as a gift.

Such an awesome little gem! I love this gift shop! This is the place to find a ton of little treasures that are not available anywhere else. A lot of the things are handmade and one of a kind. It was fun to look at all of the different glassware and figurines. They also have a lot of lovely jewelery.

Friendly, friendly owners carrying beautiful merchandise. There is a distinct Celtic and/or Old Ways feel to a lot of their merchandise, which is cool. They also carry incense. They have a beautiful mystic topaz bracelet that is past my budget but they mentioned to me it is Fair Trade. Not sure how much of their jewelery is Fair Trade, but there might be more. They have packed a lot into a small storefront, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Lovely owners, and great stuff. They use their space as best as they can, and they always have such lovely jewelry. You always go in looking for something, and finding at least 3 more that you didn’t know you wanted! Great when you are hunting for gifts for special people.

Great little gift shop with many interesting items that makes it stand out from the typical gift shop/curio crowd. Considering the hand crafted nature of most of what they sell, I didn’t find the prices THAT high. This isn’t cheap Chinese crap here. The Owner couple are delightful people that have been in the business for 36 years. It’s businesses like this that enrich the neighborhood.

Do you like to shop at Walmart? Is your life complete when you buy the cheapest, China-made crap, available? If yes, then stay away from Gallimaufry Gallery. Gentle reader, I must admit to you — I have been around the block a few times. I shopped at Gallimaufry Gallery when it was located on Halsted Street, back in the misty dawn of time. I still have rings that I purchased way back then. It was a big surprise to me, a couple years ago, to see that they had moved to Lincoln Square. But what a nice addition! Gallimaufry Gallery specializes in original arts and crafts, some imported, some not. They carry jewelry, buttons, incense, wine glasses, scarves, CDs, devotional objects, scarves, signage and more. Everything is unique and original(maybe the buttons and incense isn’t, but hey, that’s a minor exception). Is it a little more expensive than what you buy at Wal-Mart? Hell, yes! And it should be! If you want the common, ordinary crap, go somewhere else. If you want something of beauty, something special, something that a friend or relative will treasure as a gift, shop here. It’s kind of like buying subsidized, drugged-up chicken instead of organic — if you want the best, you have to pay a little more. True story: I bought a couple small plaques to hang on the wall that featured quotes about the value of friendship. Nothing schmaltzy or common, but very true. The two people who received these gifts have told me, these things are really treasured. That matters to me. If it matters to you, you’ll shop here, too.

I used to shop at Gallimaufry Gallery fairly regularly when they were on Halsted. Yes, that was 20 years ago. So imagine my surprised when I stopped in recently and discovered they were so … expensive. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve got some cute stuff here. And I’m sure it’s all handmade and artisan produced. But 20 years ago, when I was making less money, I could afford it. Now, not so much. And this, my friends, is the lesson of supply and demand.

Gallimaufry Gallery is one of the places lending Lincoln Square its distinctive feel. Inside its slightly cramped space you’ll find all sorts of treasures. I’m not talking the«thats cool”-and-walk-away experience. I’m talking about the«honey-come-look-at-this». Some of the items available are as follows: beautifull hand made jewelery boxes, hand crafted stemware, an endless selection of charms, incense, icons and ecoutrements of various eastern faiths, woven goods, jewelery. You can come there every day of the week and find something you missed the last.

I only wish it was a bit bigger to show/sell more stuff! Handmade cards that I love to give(and keep for myself). Incense, vases, candles, spiritual goods, jewelry, art of all kinds… when I need ideas for hard-to-shop for folks, this is one of my favorite stops.

Gallimaufry was in Lincoln Square when most of the other businesses were German delis and gift stores. It’s the area’s grandma of artisan stores, with a well-established reputation for quality items and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. This is a small, crowded space, so take your time look everywhere. Chances are that there will be any number of items to surprise and delight you. And yes, it’s a little pricey, but remember that this isn’t Wal-Mart. Much of the inventory is from local artisans who are trying to make a go of it producing quality items. Do not miss this place.

Neat gifts, freindly staff. Buy yourself some wool slippers! They are SO worth the price. Save your floors, keep your feet cozy warm, wool won’t make you sweat or itch either; do your roommate a favor and take care of your stanky feet. Seriously, they only seem expensive until you put them on. Unlikely but great source of soft soled baby /toddler shoes too.
