Service was great but sushi was absolutely horrible. Hands down the worst I’ve ever had.

I’ve taken my husband here 3 times already, and he couldn’t love it more. Was completely surprised for his birthday and said it’s his favorite place to go. We spend on an average about $ 50 per trip. Well worth it. Get rolls to go if you have the chance. I haven’t found a place yet that can top the quality.

Very good food, especially for the price. I enjoy the hole-in-the-wall ambiance too, it’s not too unlike the little eateries you find everywhere in Asian cities(at least the ones I’ve been to.) The service is a bit aloof, but again, stereotypical in that regard and by no means a problem. I’ve been there with my family a few times, and we’ve enjoyed our meals very much — consistent quality across the menu. It is BYOB which is a bit of a drag if you forget, but a money saver nonetheless. Fischman’s is right down the street, so that’s plenty convenient. No charge for cork service; they do provide wine glasses. We’ve already made it part of the circuit of regular weekday dining, so I have no problem recommending it. The minus 1 star score comes from the atmosphere — as in the actual air. They need a ventilation system. That’s not to say it smells bad in there, but the fryer smell will stick to your clothes long after you leave. Just like in the old smoky bar days, we leave our jackets on the porch after we get home. That is by no means a deal-breaker though. We’ll continue to eat there, vent fan or not.

Godzilla Sushi offers some of the most affordable rolls in Chicago without sacrificing quality. The quality is a little better than Ruk and a lot cheaper. They aren’t quite Lawrence Fish Market cheap, but unlike LFM, they offer delivery and a cozy dine-in environment. The staff is always friendly and the service is prompt. I get food from here about once a week and am never disappointed. What a great addition to the Jeff Park neighborhood!

This is strictly on their customer service and not their food. Got a coupon. Doesn’t say Dine in Only anywhere in the fine prints. They will not allow me to order take out using it even though the lady herself could not justify it. It normally wouldn’t be a problem for me to dine in but the whole restaurant smelled extremely greasy. The grease smell was so strong that I was getting a headache and walked out smelling like I was hovering over a deep fryer for an hour. Thank God I can trade in my coupon for another coupon instead.

Have ate here twice now, once on grub hub and once in store. I’d say pretty good. Great price. Food came out fast. Will be back again. Store is cute. Only major suggestion if they need business is allow BYOB. That’d be the best. No bar here in case you wanted to know.

Godzilla Sushi Roll(GSR) is a small storefront @ 4945 N Milwaukee Ave. it’s located just north of the Jefferson Park train station so all you sushi enthusiasts can grab sushi on the fly. Yum something to munch on on the way downtown or out to O’Hare Airport if you’re going the other way. They are open lunch hours, close around 2:30 and reopen for dinner hours around 5 pm. This way you can grab lunch and if you still have that craving for sushi grab some for dinner on the way home. GSR has decent quality sushi at a very reasonable price. I mean you can’t compare it to somewhere like Katsu on Peterson, but for a fraction of the cost the sushi is pretty good with a large variety of options. I tried 3 rolls each for $ 2.95/roll with 4 pieces. So for under $ 10 you get a pretty good fix of sushi at a reasonable price. Spicy Trio Roll — This was by far my favorite of the 3 rolls w/a combination of spicy salmon & tempura crunch topped w/tuna, white tuna & a blend of spicy mayo & Unagi sauce and tobiko. The crunch of the tempura batter along with the sauces created a very good blend Mini Godzilla Roll — The restaurants namesake was a bit of a let down, but it was tasty. Basically a California roll w/seared spicy tuna and the same spicy tuna & Unagi sauce Miami Roll — Had deep fried shrimp tempura(no crunch that I was looking for), imitation crab, cream cheese topped with spicy mayo They are pretty new and have been at their location for about 5 months. It’s worth checking out and I will be back because I enjoy a good meal at a good value

$ 3 for most rolls. 4 pieces for the more complicated rolls and 6 pieces for more common rolls. However, that doesn’t mean in any way that the quality is lower. This is go to sushi whether you just need a fix or want to have a good meal. Always ready in less than 30 minutes. These guys are great!

Hubby came home and gave Rosa J. a fair warning that he had a crappy work day. That was understandable! Let us just have a lazy, «work-free» evening and order something online for delivery. I recalled«Godzilla Sushi» on Milwaukee, which is located a few feet away from Jefferson Park Transportation Center. I placed an order via Eat24 on their Unilocal page. I also utilized something wonderful called the Google search engine and found a $ 2 off coupon. They do charge $ 3 delivery fee, with an minimum order of $ 12.50. You can order in the«a la carte» style, or you can opt for the pre-set combo options or sushi entrees. For $ 29 and some change, we had the following: — chirashi don($ 14.50): it tasted better than how it was presented. I wish there was more fish included with this price. Once again, it is what it is in Chicago. Having a sushi feast isn’t the most economic option in the Windy City since neither Atlantic nor Pacific Ocean is surrounded by. — veggie rolls combo($ 9.50): it’s a vegetarian-friendly entrée since there’s no fish in any of these rolls. Both entrees come with the miso soup. The delivery driver arrived at our house within forty-five(45) minutes, as promised in the confirmation e-mail. Contents in the brown bag were delivered securely, except the naughty soy sauce was slightly spilled. Overall, we were satisfied with the food and delivery service.

Good prices– decent Sushi. The place is a little disorganized not your average sushi place. It’s still not bad for the price.

This place was so much better than I expected. We got the Cucumber Salad and the Avocado Salad. Cucumber salad was very good. Avocado salad was disappointing to me, was just bland and not exciting in the least. Sushi was good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but as someone whos family used to own a very successful sushi bar in Florida, I’m VERY picky. Red Dragon Roll– Our favorite. Their spicy tuna is mixed with sriracha and it just somehow works. It is so yummy! Miami Roll– Very yummy. Wish it was a small sized roll to get every flavor in one bite. Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll– I don’t normally like raw Salmon, but my mom does so I tried hers and I actually liked this. Good job! Spicy Trio Roll– Good! Not the best but would order again Volcano Roll– This is the only roll we didn’t like. If I had not known there was a scallop on top, I would have never guessed. It has no scallop flavor and the sauce on top has a weird smoky flavor that is just bad. We both tried one piece and trashed the rest. Please, Godzilla… figure this roll out. It has potential but so far is not successful. We will totally be back here. The sushi is average but good and they have unique flavors. Great prices and the small portions allow you to have several different rolls as opposed to just a couple. We will just plan to stay away from the Volcano Roll!(YUCK) Delivery was also very fast! 20 minutes early!

Due to my never ending crave for sushi, when I found this place I was ecstatic! Its conveniently located, quiet little joint. I haven’t seen many people dine in, which is probably because they do take out AND delivery. I enjoy dining in because everyone is very nice and respectful, but most of all I like to enjoy the cozy ambiance this place gives. I’ve been here more times than I’d like to admit, and I love most of their rolls. For 2.95 each plate, its a bargain lunch or dinner! I recommend the tiger roll, crunchy spicy salmon roll(drool), and spicy scallop roll. Not a huge fan of the volcano roll, but if you’re my boyfriend and LOVE spicy mayo, its calling you. If you love sashimi, I strongly suggest getting the chirashi don. Beautiful pieces of assorted fish on a bed of sushi rice. Yum! I’ve never done carry out or delivery through them but sushi is almost always better eaten right after preparation anyway!

The concept at Godzilla is similar to conveyor belt sushi. There are small plates of sushi rolls(4 piece or 6 piece depending on the complexity of the roll), 2 pieces of nigiri, or a variety of other appetizers all for $ 3 per plate. Each plate is made to order as opposed to conveyor belt which has sushi that could be sitting out for a while. I highly recommend the spicy trio. The spicy scallops were too mushy. The rice isn’t near the best I’ve had but at $ 3 a plate… It’ll do. The Thai tea here is also pretty bomb and served in a cute mason jar. For made to order, 1-Yelp-dollar-$ign, tapas style sushi. This place is fantastic. You can try dozens of different dishes without breaking the bank.

I’ve been going to Godzilla sushi since the first week they opened, and I’m hooked! Fresh, innovative sushi with friendly customer service, plus they’re now open for lunch EVERYDAY of the week! Yay! The customers spoke, and the business listened(a rare thing this day and age). My favorite rolls are the Miami, Volcano, San Francisco, and the tuna and avocado. The rice to ingredients ratio is always spot on, and the fish is always fresh. I also like the flavor of the rice. I tend to lean toward the maki rolls, but the nigiri is equally as impressive. For $ 3 you get 2 pieces of nigiri. It’s the best deal on sushi that you’ll find in Chicago. Seriously. I feel that Jefferson Park was in desperate need of a sushi restaurant, and Godzilla certainly fills that need. The menu is incredibly affordable. As others have stated, most of the items are only $ 3 each. Even the«specialty» rolls are only $ 3, but you get 4 pieces rather than the standard 6 with the more basic rolls. There are some rolls that go up to $ 10+, and I’ve tried a few and found them to be totally worth the extra money. Just remember that if your order is under $ 15, you have to pay cash. I totally understand this, as it’s a way to keep their costs down, and the savings is DEFINITELY passed on to the customer. I’ve been to Godzilla at LEAST a dozen times since they opened. They have stolen me from Lawrence Fish Market, and that’s no easy feat. I was at LFM at least once a week for 10 years! As long as they keep the prices low, the service friendly, and the sushi fresh, they will have a regular customer for LIFE from me.

Third time eating their food and I am done. 1st was take out: the rice was very overcooked which gave the sushi bad texture. 2nd was eat in: slow service(the people next to us left in a huff) and mistakes in our order. Also at least one piece had tough ligament which was very off putting. I’ve never had that even with cheap grocery store sushi. 3rd was pick up: 3 pieces with ligament(barf), scallop was weird texture(I didn’t even finish it), the Godzilla roll presentation was disgusting. you’d think signature roll would be beautiful but it looked like scraps of fish on top, weird chunks like I’ve never seen on a roll. Usually when it’s a top it’s beautiful slices layered, right? But my biggest reason for my post is my current gastrointestinal distress. I’ve thankfully eaten a lot of sushi and never been sick. Cheap isn’t worth it. I’m sad because I really wanted this place to work for me. So convenient! Nice people work there!

I ordered delivery from this place a couple weeks ago and it was great. However, my review will be based on my delivery experience from yesterday which left me never wanting to give business to this place ever again. The experience was absolutely horrible with ZERO customer service on the part of the restaurant. Ordered food around 745pm, called around 910 to see what was up with the food and was told by management that they were just finishing up the order and that it would be another 40 minutes… are you kidding me??? 3 hours for delivery for sushi… which is a raw food. The manager told me that they had a lot of large orders and said they are having a «crazy night, sorry». I was basically encouraged to cancel my order by the manager because she asked me if I wanted to cancel about 3 times during the phone call… probably so that they have less orders to worry about. I ended up canceling my order and won’t be ordering from this place again for fear of the same experience. Bottom line… don’t open a restaurant if you can’t handle the business its going to generate!

I love the concept of this place. It’s like tapas for sushi rolls. Or… sushi conveyer belt but made to order. Try as many different rolls as you want for $ 3 each! Not surprisingly, the pieces are usually on the smaller side and some of them are good and some very bland. Lots of rolls are covered in spicy mayo and/or unagi sauce. One major difference this place has over a sushi conveyer belt is that all of the food is made to order. That can be a great thing if you’re in the restaurant yourself but VERY slow if it is packed.
