Harold’s Chicken #84

Some of the worst chicken I’ve ever had, waste of money and like others have suggested, employees act like they don’t want your business.

Harold’s Chicken #84 is not the place to go. I was so excited to find this deal on groupon. I placed my ordered over the phone for a pickup. I simply explained that I wanted my chicken wings and perch fish fried hard with lemon pepper.
I went to pick up my order and the workers were all over the place. A lil unprofessional
I get home and was very disappointed and pissed that my chicken wings and perch fish were not fried hard but soggy and overly downed in lemon pepper. I won’t be going back. Waste of my time and money spent.
Don’t waste your money on this place poor food preparation and rude employees.

So excited about harolds born & raised in chicago this is a great chicago institution… however this place was a let down the employess looked tired & stressed probaly cause it was friday & it was busy… but the 9wings i got not 10 were so small you would of thought they were hot wings & this location looked runned down with a bunch of empty businesses… ill be back but not to this location

That’s some weak fried chicken. Took 15 minutes to get it, too. They actually gave me an extra piece for the wait. But it was so bad, that I was sorry they were so generous. Maybe a long time ago this was a good place. But the chicken was too tired and lacking in flavor.

The food is good but The cashiers are rude and unprofessional. Especially when the The store opens at 10:30 but you have to wait 15 additional minutes to get your order. I’m a dissatisfied customer

Not bad, but nothing epic or unforgettable. Just had to try Harold’s as a Chicago classic, so I went to the one on Clark and Lake for lunch right at mid-​day. Short line, not much wait.
I ordered the ½ chicken mixed lunch plate with hot sauce on top. Chicken is on top of fries, on top of a slice of bread, and a mini shot cup of coleslaw half filled. The chicken was cooked perfectly– freshly fried, hot and juicy. Not much flavor to the chicken itself except for the hot sauce on top. Had to make a fry sandwich with the soggy fries and bread. OK, meh, btdt. If I had to compare it to a chain, I’d say it most is like Popeye’s. Med size, not KFC steroid chicken.
If I did have to go there again, I’d order the chicken bites that a mate had– nicely done chunks of boneless chicken that looked better than the whole pieces in my box.
BTW– Harold, tell your employees to take it easy on the Lysol mopping where people are eating– kind of mucked it up with the smell.

I’ve always ordered for delivery, so I don’t know what it looks like. Great spot to get some good fingerlicking fried chicken.
Fried chicken with hot sauce will have your mouth tingling for more! Banana pudding is okay, nothing great, and I only purhcased it to meet the minimum delivery requirement. The half fried chicken usually comes with fries, a small condiment dish of slaw, and a piece of bread. (Who eats the bread when you have fried chicken?)

I had the grilled chicken breast meal special. I should’ve stuck to fried it was literally the driest chicken ever!!!

Very disappointed. It was my first time trying this place. The chicken was dry and burnt it literally cut the inside of my upper mouth. I was surprised I was not happy with their chicken since everyone swears by it. I will try a different location next time but this location… sorry. It deserves a 1 star or less.

I love Harold’s! This is by far the freshest chicken fried chicken I’ve gotten from any Harold’s! The sauce is right too!

I’m so happy they opened a Harold’s Chicken that is nearby.
The same great chicken, a new better location! I love their ½ White Combo, how can you go wrong with all the delicious breaded goodness. I know they’re known for their Mild sauce but I’m a Hot sauce kind of guy.
I love their chicken and will be back over and over again!

Yep, they done opened a Harold’s in walking distance of my job!
Chicken is good as most Harold’s don’t mess up chicken, but the mild sauce tasted different the 2^nd time I came.
This Harold’s offers salad options which is something you don’t see @ a traditional Harolds but I guess they are catering to the downtown/​loop crowd.
They deliver and you can call for pickup.
For those that don’t know its located in the same building as McDonalds and Robinson’s Ribs on Lake and Clark

Great food! Having to wait as the chicken is cooked for you adds something when it is this good. And the fried okra was an amazing addition. Assuredly somewhere to stop again. Great food and service with a smile.
