Not going to lie, I had serious doubts about this place. Mainly because I thought it could be cleaner(hair is all over the floor and just about everywhere here). But I came in with a picture and explained to Vincent how I wanted it cut since I don’t part my hair in the center, and Vincent did a great job. I couldn’t be happier with the cut its exactly what I wanted, I was in there for less than an hour and it came out to $ 32 for shampoo, cut, and blow dry.

Unfortunately after I got home and washed/dried my newly cut hair I realized that it was cut in a very layered style, which did not show the U shape I was looking for with a Blunt style. I only wear my hair straight(which it is naturally) and not in curls so this layered look looks messy unless I curl my hair– there is absolutely no shape to the hair. If I go back to recut though I will lose length in my hair. Otherwise Norris did a great job styling my hair at the end– I showed a photo of my previous haircut for maybe 15 seconds and in the end he got it pretty close! He curled my hair and spent time listening to me– I only spoke English so it is possible that there was a language barrier. I He was pretty fully booked and I asked for the appt the night before and got a lunchtime spot :)

Took my girlfriend here to get her hair cut and I must say this place is fantastic. First off they were very accommodating. Her hair stylist that day was Norris and he was so professional, not to mention his skills with the scissors were no joke. After 45 minutes that included hair washing then cutting, my girlfriend couldn’t have been more pleased. She is normally finicky about her hair, but Norris laid all of her worries to rest, and afterwards, she couldn’t have been more ecstatic. To anyone reading this review, they do a great job and I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a haircut.

No frills salon. Great, affordable haircuts. I’ve been going here every 2 – 3 months for almost three years. I’ve gotten a cut from almost everyone that works there — never a bad cut, just some that I like more than others. There can be a bit of a language barrier sometimes, but if you bring a picture, it’s no big deal. My personal favorites are Ricky and Norris. My hair is extremely slick and straight, and over the years I’ve learned that cheap Chinatown haircuts work best for me because they get Asian hair. They’re great with non-Asian hair as well!

My husband and I still come here to get our haircut every month. I see Samson and my husband sees Ricky. You can’t go wrong with any of the stylists. We always get compliments on our hair too and it’s very affordable. You can even get dim sum afterwards with the money you’ve saved :)

Went here with my boyfriend so he can get a haircut when we first came there. the people seem like you don’t belong there. They give off this vibe like they don’t want you there. It’s hard sometimes to find a good salon that cuts Asian hair properly so we thought why not because Chinatown is not that far from downtown Chicago near the loop so we thought hey let’s give it a try. just didn’t know that the people there were not friendly

Norris is amazing and I go to him for all my hair problems prices are reasonable and you don’t pressured to buy unnecessary products or services that you didn’t ask for — I drive half an hour just to get coloring and cuts from him, totally worth every visit!

Thank you, Norris, and your staff for being hospitable and making me feel welcomed today. I absolutely admired the blonde you styled for me! However, I feel that the two colors did not blend well, especially when I requested balayage. I was not lying when I said that I loved what you did for me, but when I came home and the curls you did for me faded a bit, I can clearly see how the two colors did not blend well. I am fond of the blonde you did for me and would definitely come back for touch-ups. Update: Thank you for being super patient with me and trying to perfect my hair!

This used to be my favorite hair salon. Not anymore. The quality of the haircut you get is really inconsistent and largely depends on which hairstylist you get. Last night my boyfriend and I stopped by after dinner to get our haircut, and both of us had a terrible experience. I’m trying to grow my hair out but really needed a good trimming to get better layers, shape, and volume. The hairstylist spent a total of maybe ~5 min cutting my hair and the proceeded to spend the next 30 min blowdrying my hair(and burning my scalp on several occasions). The end result was impressive, how can it not when the mass majority of time was spent styling my hair rather than cutting it? But unless you have time to give yourself a blow dry every morning, your hair will look disastrous. Because of the way she layered my hair(short on the outside and long inside), it would naturally flip out(a big NO-NO for me). I’m a low maintenance girl, and this was unacceptable and disappointing. I payed for a haircut, not for styling. My boyfriend’s haircut was worse. He wanted to get his hair cut short, but leaving at least 2 inches(and this was communicated to his hairstylist). The hairstylist proceed to basically give him a buzzcut, leaving him only maybe 0.5−1 inch of hair. This is the kind of haircut you get at a $ 5 greatclips. He went to get a professional haircut, not to come out looking like he’s about to sign up for the army! I think it’s time for me to look for a better hair salon that can give more consistent results. Meanwhile, my advice to those that want to try this salon, ask for Norris(he’s the best), and stay away from the other hairstylists!

I don’t want to write this review b/c it is already very difficult to schedule an appointment with Norris! This is a hair salon in Chinatown and I’ve had pretty good luck with all of the stylists here. The reason I love Norris so much is primarily b/c he speaks English and he listens to feedback. Again, I think i’ve had 3 other people cut my hair there too and though they spoke limited English, they did a good job as well! Prices are very reasonable at $ 32.

I came here for a cut and a perm, but ended up getting highlights and a cut instead. Everyone was very nice and hospitable, offering water and magazines whenever I needed. Norris was very friendly. I know he wasn’t paying attention to our conversation when we first started because I told him the same stuff at the end of the appointment, but I’m okay with that. I would rather have him focus on my hair than that I’ve never gotten my hair dyed before. The salon could be a bit cleaner in terms of the walls and wash station. Overall, I would come back. The balayage and cut cost a little over $ 100, which was great. Too bad they don’t validate parking passes.

I wish I lived in Chicago so that Norris could style my hair all the time! I was traveling and needed my hair trimmed prior to a big event. Based on Unilocal reviews and the fact it was open Sunday, I decided to come here. Fortunately a time was available when I called a few days ahead. This place is in the Chinatown Plaza, so the address got the taxi driver very confused. Take the L or get dropped off at Archer and Cermak! Staff and clientele are overwhelmingly Asian, and a few staff didn’t speak much English. Norris was very busy putting finishing touches on multiple clients at the same time, while various assistants washed, dried, and colored; nonetheless, I felt that he was always supervising their work. He has an eye for detail and did a gorgeous job of trimming my layered hair and offered a quick color(45 min). The dark reddish brown was very subtle but perfect, and then Norris was back for finishing touches, all the while complimenting the«great cut» which he’d just given me. Cut was $ 32, color was $ 70. Love my ‘do! I’ll definitely return next time I’m in Chicago.

LADIES, LOCKUPYOURLOVERS, YOURBOYFRIENDS, ANDHUSBANDSBECAUSEWHENYOURGIRLFRIENDWALKSOUTOFTHISSALON. YOUBETTERWATCHOUT. SHEGONTURNHEADS. Hahaha. WELL, I actually literally did, after walking out with my new haircut, guys were literally turning their heads and I got holla’s and pickup lines. Ladies, watch out. Maybe the salon should have an ADVISORYWARNING. like a «WARNING, DONOTPROCEEDWITHHAIRCUTUNLESSYOURREADYFORLOTSOFATTENTIONANDTOBESTAREDAT» it’s funny you think im be joking, but i’m not Norris cut my hair. That’s probably why. I’ve heard he works like MAGIC. He’s been cutting hair for ten years if I remember correctly. He knows what he’s doing. He said he could do it with his eyes closed(jokingly of course). I challenged him, haha. But really, he is probably my go to hairdresser now. I don’t typically get haircuts that often. I did three months ago, but I just wanted a change recently. Anyways, I love my new hair! Might I add that Norris is super sweet and funny! I realize that it might be harder to book him if there are positive reviews but, hey, i think he’s already gotten plenty of rave reviews. And, I just have to share anyway!

So, Norris is absolutely amazing. I came into the salon(he managed to fit me in an hour after I called) immediately following a long work trip. Totally exhausted and pissed off because the stylist that I had gone to(in another city) completely fried my hair which resulted in me having to cut off about a foot of hair. Anyway, Norris brilliantly colored and cut my hair so it was no longer the ugly mess that I was when I came it. Not to mention, my hair color was basically black when I came in and he brought it to a gorgeous deep brown with amazing blonde highlights. I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Also, the girl who washed my hair had magic fingers. The entire experience from start to finish was fantastic – everyone was so nice! I can’t wait to go back, especially since the entire experience(wash, cut, color and highlights) only ran me $ 160 including the tip while my previous stylist would’ve ran me $ 300+. Thanks, Norris!

I finally booked an appointment with Norris after many recommendations and I am glad that I did. I went in for a balayage and am very satisfied with the result. We finished right when the salon closed. I really appreciated the fact that Norris and his staff took their time and didn’t make me feel rushed so close to closing time. Norris is professional and made sure to always let me know what was happening when he had to walk away or his assistants had to step in. The staff are top notch and very professional.

Recently moved to Chicago from Boston so I had to find a new hair stylists. I have long layered hair that was in need of a trim to fix the dead ends. Also have color treated hair that was brassy and uneven do to a previous bad color job. Luckily I found headquarters through Unilocal! They are open everyday and are open late enough to accommodate me after work hours. Had an appointment with Ricky. He is a sweet and goofy guy and tries really hard to understand your needs. He gave me beautiful layers and fixed my color. All of the other staff were also super accommodating. Even though they were quite busy, Ricky would make sure to check in to see if I was doing alright. Price is also very reasonable and affordable. I paid $ 122 for cut, wash, single process color & a blowdry. Glad that I’ve found a new hair salon in Chicago. Will be coming back!

Entering a Chinatown hair salon gives me the heebies jeebies equivalent of having that six-month dental check-up. Unlike the usual sterile-screeching-of-instruments I get from my dentist, the hair cut experience is slightly better when it’s masked by upbeat K-pop. There’s an unspoken gross factor from both parties. I, the client who pops in sans-appointment with grizzly long unkempt hair, full of split ends. Do I condition? Not really. When was your last cut? Uh, a year or more ago? Hair guy wields his instruments to tame the aforementioned monstrosity. Of course, from the wash to the quick blowout, there’s the residual rag-like-sweat smells from the wet neck pad I laid on while they’re shampooing to the collection of other people’s loose hairs on the brushes, combs, etc. Albeit they seemed to be on an endless rotation of customers, but shouldn’t they do a time-out to properly sanitize? I am no fuss when it comes to my hair, but for my yearly trim(as I plan to grow my hair out for donation)… I would much rather shell out a little bit more, for at least a cleaner place elsewhere.

Wanted to try something new and my hair was feeling limp. After reading reviews on Unilocal I had to pick Headquarters and check out the hype on Norris– the Edward Scissorhands of Chinatown. Who is this man? Why are so many people raving about his passionate haircuts? I want a passionate haircut! Made a reservation and came here on a Saturday afternoon. Place was packed up the wazoo with guys and girls who had the most edgy hair cuts and colors. The girl who led me to get my hair washed was named Sophie. She was really sweet but very quiet. After washing and combing out my hair– I met Norris. The Norris. Norris is such an ideal stylist because the takes the time to get to know you and has so much fun cutting the hair. He comments on the music and really gets into the haircut itself. He is incredibly precise with his cutting techniques. He is also very down-to-earth and hilarious. I’ve never had so much fun getting my hair cut! I am incredibly satisfied with how my hair turned out and he even curled it for me– so I could go out later that night. He is even meticulous when applying hair spray– it was carefully misted on specific sections. I think it’s safe to say I found a new stylist in Chinatown. The hype is for real– this man has talent and I suggest you book an appointment ASAP!
