I thought this place was gonna be better than other buffets, but instead it’s even worse, the enviroment is not good and also the food is the lowest quality you could possibly find. The tables, food, crew, etc will let you feel that you want to get out of there as soon as you can. There are of course few things you can try because taste good like pot stickers, shrimps, chicken, and glass noodles and that’s it. Not even the sushi is good tasty. I know we can’t be too picky with this places but compared with others, this buffet is not a good recommendation.

Some of this food is pretty damn good. — hot and sour soup: some of the best I’ve had — jalapeño chicken: super flavorful — glass noodles(don’t remember the name): yum! — fried meatballs: my husband loved them — egg rolls and rangoons I’d probably upgrade this place to three stars if I ate a lot of seafood. There were people getting down on calamari, crawfish, mussels, fish galore. Stay away from the Mexican food or other ethnic varieties(duh)! Overall, much of the food was good, although lacking some variety. Much of the food was cold(off and on), but the meal is $ 12. I’ve never been to a buffet that cheap since I got off my last cruise ship! Sure, it’s a bit dated, but for a quick and cheap bite, it hits the spot. Also, self-serve, all you can drink soda, so no wait staff involved! Although, your orange soda may taste like ginger ale, but at least it’s unlimited.

The place is utterly disgusting and awful. The restaurant is a dump and the food is uneatable. The hot food was luke warm to cold and definitely not being held at 135°F or hotter as required by law. I will be notifying the Department of Health regarding that.

This is my favorite Chinese buffet. The food is great and the staff is friendly. We’ll be coming here often.

I’ve eaten lunch here about a hundred times going back as far as I can remember. It’s the best value in the area(the Old Country Buffet is in the same complex and is more expensive, and OCB dosen’t include drinks). They have a good selection of a good variety of food items and their lettuce wrapped sushi is great.

Ok, first of all, this is FAR from the dirtiest place around. It’s also FAR from the worst food I’ve ever had. Yes. It’s greasy. Yes, it’s unhealthy. WTF were you expecting?! It’s $ 8.75 for all you can eat! Were you expecting some gourmet, Chinese dining experience, chock full of exotic and interesting foods, the kind of which amaze your taste sensations? Ha ha ha. This is the fucking McDonalds of «Chinese» food. In fact, the lunch buffet is actually CHEAPER than a meal at McD’s. And I’ve NEVER seen an empty one of those joints. You’re supposed to hate yourself after eating this. You’re supposed to regret stuffing yourself full of «food» that’s labeled as one thing, yet somehow resembles nothing of the sort. You’re supposed to tell yourself that you’re never doing that again. But we all know you will. Most likely after a long night of pumping yourself full of alcohol, that you also will swear you’ll never do again. It is what it is. It’s always exactly as I expect. That’s why it’s three stars. Because it’s perfectly disgusting and I know I’ll be back for more.

There are only a few times in life where I’ve regretted the choices I’ve made, this is one of those times. This Chinese buffet has absolutely the worse Chinese buffet I’ve been too. And being quarter Chinese, I love Chinese food. The food was semi warm at best, the sushi has been sitting out there more than a few hours. The only thing hot was the cold fruit. Some of the food was over salted. The rest of the food was a combination of too much salt and oil. It took me a few minutes to figure out were the forks and spoons where located. This place was an absolute mess. The guy at front counter tried to sell me some of the toys they had sitting out on display. I noticed him stairing down my sister who is 17. Like if she were about to steal one of their knock off toys. He did the same to me when I went to closely inspect a knock off Steve McQueen toy. I found the starting to be a bit rude. Although the other staff members seemed to very helpful and nice. The building on the outside was a mess, beer bottles and trash everywhere. The inside was a little better, but you exchange the beer bottles and trash for a greasy atmosphere. When walking around the buffet area, I found the floors to be sticky. Some of the serving spoons were extremely greasy. A lot of the food looked like it had been sitting for more than half the day. The drinks were nasty. It tasted like they havnt cleaned the soda lines in a while. The table we sat at was the same story, greasy tops. Chairs where ok. When I decided to sit at a booth after the dislike of the table being greasy. I knew I made a mistake and went back to the table. The booth had a greasy table, the booth chairs were not secured. I literally took the chair with me when I tried to slide out. There were also a lack of napkins in the dispenser. Overall this place has super salty and oily food, the service needs work and the out side and inside appearance needs a lot of cleanning up. Although the price is cheap, I would try to avoid this place. Spend a few more dollars to go to a better buffet. This place just isnt worth the money or the time you will spend sitting on the toilet.

FYI… whenever you walk into a restaurant and there is a gift shop at the entrance, turn around and walk out. Only reason why they would have it is to try to make more money because their food is not worth it. Everything is just sticky. Sticky forks, sticky tables, sticky cups, stick floors. The food quality is so generic that the Panda express across the street has better and more fresh food choices. Plates are very small, so you will need to make multiple trips across the sticky floor to get more of the food. Avoid the booths because they’re sticky as well. If you do HAVE to go, bring your own warming plates to warm up the food, your own forks, spoons, cups, knives, and whatever else you need.

first of all Unilocal should offer an option for zero stars as one star is too generous for this place. Lousy food election, poor food quality and dirty. worker was eating food as he was checking the trays in the buffet area.

The food there suck. It is cold and disgusting. Avoid the calamari at all cost because it has a weird smell and taste to it. When I got there, the cashier was on his phone yelling at someone and he was very rude as well. AVOIDATALLCOST. ITS A WASTEOFMONEYEATINGTHERE!!!

By far the absolute dirtiest most disgusting Chinese buffet I have ever been to. I ate rice and watermelon, it was quite literally the only things I trusted. I came in around 8 pm. Two more hours of being open with about 10 – 12 people inside. Level with the influx of people only the rice and clams were refilled. Everything was cold and sitting for a long while. Even the clams they messed. They brought fresh clam and then dumped the old ones on top. Do not go here.

Run, don’t walk! I had very low expectations going in, and yet it was still extremely disappointing. Food was cold and disgusting, the service and atmosphere was just as bad. I could go on for hours… just stay away. –UPDATED I had the runs all day :(

I totally agree with the review from Annette B. The conversation her brother overhead is consistent with my recent experience. There was a good flow of people coming in though, but even then you could tell that some of the food wasn’t fresh. The«busgirls» were nice and attentive. There is a lot of free parking in the plaza lot. Unfortunately, those are the only POSITIVE things I have to say. Ice cream was«watery”-ice cream without the cream. bleh Food was mediocre looking and tasting. Food temp was only warm for some dishes. Place wasn’t clean looking. Seats Are Torn and Dirty. Silverware wasn’t clean, I had to keep checking for clean silverware.

$ 12 for dinner, $ 8 for lunch, good bargains for various foods including seafoods, meat, vege, snacks etc… Tylical Chinese buffet, great taste for Asians, fresh and hot foods, noisy environment, it’s not perfect, but definitely worth the price if ya like Chinese cuisine. I won’t ask for more at this point and it’s the only Chinese buffet that cheap around Skokie, another good one is Ginza Buffet but almost triple price of this one. Btw, it offers big tables for party and one more thing, do not try sushi there unless u are a vegetarian.

Despite the current 2 star status Hong Kong has, my pregnant self was really needing some Chinese. But not just any Chinese, I needed a buffet. I went at 1:30 on a weekday and the crowd was pretty thin. Oh well, less lines! as for the food, some was a little Luke warm, but overall it was the same as any Chinese buffet. The lady manning the food replaced quite a few dishes while I was there. The main reason I came was for sweet and sour chicken, which they did not have. Bummer! Overall, the meal was average but what I expected.

To start, the owner rang up my family and I at the register. He was on the phone, yelling at someone in Chinese. What he didn’t realize is that my brother, who was with us, speaks Chinese. He was complaining that he didn’t want to put out any fresh food because there wasn’t enough costumers to justify it. He was complaining that he didn’t have enough customers to make any money that day. He sounded very upset. In addition to the rude behavior of the owner, I was not impressed with anything else. 80 percent of the food was not fresh and you could see evidence of this as buildup on the edges of the table pans. The bottles of hot sauce had a build up on them, disgusting. Overall, the restaurant was dirty and unimpressive. Never going back.

First of all, shame on the owner of this restaurant for not sprucing it up a bit. It is dingy, dusty and faded and in dire need of at least a good cleaning. The overall presentation and tattered around the edges appearance can easily lead someone to believe the food will be equally mishandled, sloppy and inedible. In other words, Hong Kong Buffet … Clean up your act! The food is average at best and unappetizing on some level as well. I have had better and this establishment can place extra effort at securing a more satisfied repeat customer base. I may return but would not fault anyone for staying away. good luck!
