A decent lunch spot in the loop. While it is a sit-down restaurant, they are fast. We were in and out in an hour with a short 10 minute wait around 12:15 on a Thursday. It was also pretty cheap — $ 18 for the meal, drink and a tip. The food is alright. I had the chicken teriyaki bento box. I enjoyed the chicken and teriyaki sauce along with the salad and miso soup. The veggie tempura needed to be seasoned and california maki that came with it was just bland and was falling apart. There was so much food that I didn’t mind passing on the tempura and maki. Overall, it is a solid cheap quick sit-down spot in the loop.

I picked up sushi for lunch today and while the service was very fast, I was disappointed to receive shiny light pink coloring tuna in my tuna avocado maki roll. I also ordered a spicy salmon roll that looked and tasted good, but was very disappointed and grossed out by the tunas coloring

I’m really impressed by this place. It has very high quality food for a reasonable price and a decent atmosphere. This place is great for a nice lunch downtown that won’t cost you a fortune. I’ve been there multiple times and it is consistently good.

Overall: Fast-food type sushi and thai food. It’s not bad and for the loop it’s typical, but don’t expect quality food. The good: Pretty great atmosphere. Clean, huge, and some neat presentation. Food wasn’t terrible, just not great. They had plenty of space for our group. The bad: The sushi just wasn’t great. Very average tasting and bland. The service was very unresponsive at times. It took our(larger) group an hour ½ for lunch. Atmosphere: 8⁄10 Service: 6⁄10 Food: 7⁄10

I’ve been to this place a few times and the food was decent. Yesterday I went with a few coworkers and our bento boxes came out with a side of cockroach. Yea, a cockroach was crawling around the side of one of the boxes. My friend rejected her food, and was quickly brought out a new plate(a little too quickly?). We were all fairly horrified and I did not want to eat after thinking about all our food stacked together. The server proceeded to apologize and take 20% off our bill, and gave us a free dessert. This is not enough for a table full of people who can no longer eat their food. They eventually gave us a $ 20 gift certificate in addition which we used for our check because none of us will ever be coming back to this place.

Never go to this place if you have a food allergy. I told them what allergy I have, but they completely ignored and brought two dishes with that particular vegetable. They brought the new dish, but I think the cook did not change the glove or washed hands. I know somebody touched the veggie I am allergic to because I had to take the allergy medicine after that.

Some co-workers and I came for lunch and I was very pleasantly surprised at the wonderful meal. They are regulars, but I was a rookie. Décor: Since it was rather crowded(as it appears that it can get during lunch) we were seated at a table right near the front, so I didn’t get a full look at the entire place. However, aside from the unique artwork, it’s a pretty standard place. There are a bunch of tables and everything is clean with a bit of modern flair. Staff: Our waiter was very attentive and our food came out relatively quickly(and hot!). Additionally, our water glasses were kept healthily full at all times. Food: My friends had the stir-fry lunch special, which was a HUGE portion and smelled delicious, and I had sushi(a few rolls, both being very good). The stir-fry was definitely the better deal but I very much enjoyed my meal choice as well. Everything came out hot and fresh and tasted great! Value: The lunch special is the way to go, such great bang for your buck given the portion size. I can totally understand why they like to come here, it’s a great spot for lunch. Already I cannot wait to return!

Waited over 30 minutes for a lunch. Ordered ramen with Tonkotsu The soup is okay, but with little noodle. The size is less than half of any other Ramen place, but at same price. I literally finished it in 2 minutes. The waiter explained its their size, they only have one. My friends order beef bento and broccoli chicken. They are like Japanese and Thai mix. Don’t go if u want any serious food.

That’s the last time I order! I always ask for my maki with no sweet soy sauce. It was apparent they saw this after my rolls were made as it was wiped off the top and left coating the bottom making it inedible for me. To make matters worse, the person who called me about my take out order argued with me. What part of NOSOYSOYSAUCE as instructions is hard to understand??? This has happened TOO many times. Game over Hot Woks!

The sushi here was very good, as was the service. The rolls were not great, the bento boxes, not the best either. There were only 4 small pieces of chicken in the teriyaki bento box. My son was bummed that the soda came in cans with no refills. However, the miso soup was great.

I’ve been here a few times during the work week, when I needed a nice quiet lunch out of the office. I’ve only had the sushi and sashimi, but they seemed reasonably fresh and reasonably priced(for the Loop).(They have inexpensive lunch specials!) The décor is fun, the wait staff are friendly and quick. I’m not one much for atmosphere, but I was impressed by the décor. It seemed light, airy and fun. Very refreshing break for lunch time. One caveat, if you go at noon, especially on a Friday, they can get really busy. So, take an earlier or later lunch.

wow wow sushi, great décor, fantastic lunch in the loop. my default sushi place in the loop. I come here all the time for business meetings. the sushi is fantastic, excellent creativity and just great décor. the key is to come here for lunch before noon, otherwise, it’ll be quite a task to get a table as this place is really popular with the lunch crowd. i always get the thai iced tea, as its such a good balance especially nice on the hot summer days. the sushi rolls is such art and its absolutely delicious especially the unusual mexican/japanese fusion roll in which the chef uses a complex savory, semi sweet mole sauce. never had room to try their desserts, but i know their thai entrees, japanese ramen, and fresh sushi is definitely worthy.

I came here with a co-worker on a weekday for lunch. It was packed around 12 due to the downtown lunch rush. We waited 15 minutes and the line moves pretty quickly. I do recommend calling and making reservations before you come. They have sushi, Japanese, Chinese and Thai dishes here. I ordered the shoyu ramen and it was salty. Beautifully plated I must say. Check out my pic. I also ordered the white tuna nigiri, fresh. My coworker ordered general tsos chicken. Pretty good. Tasted much lighter than the typical Chinese take out recipe. They had special lunch sushi and sashimi deals that I will be coming back for. Service was quick.

Great food, reasonably priced and good service. Went for dinner with a friend afterwork on a Friday night and were seated right way considering it was fairly packed. Its half a block from the now called Willis Tower so it’s pretty busy and off course no street parking. It’s located on Jackson and the signage isn’t so visible so you will pass it up. Otherwise it was a good experience, good food and wait staff wonderful. I also grab lunch once in awhile by just walking in and carrying out. It’s not a bad wait for carry out but suggest you call it in.

I like HWCS! I like it a lot. Good service. Great, fresh sushi in the Loop and a perfect location to my work, right across the street. The price point is good for veggie rolls, not that you expect to pay a lot for them anyway. I’m a fan. Coworkers brought me here and I have brought my friends and family here as well.

Just ok. One of the appetizers we had– the spring rolls– smelled extremely mildew-y and the sauce was horrible. I ate one(yuck) and luckily didn’t get sick. Crab rangoons were good but those are pretty impossible to screw up in my book. Sushi rolls were pretty good(generic) but good. The pad Thai was oddly flavored. I ate a couple bites and passed on it because I couldn’t get the weird taste out of my mouth. Service was outstanding I will give them that.

I stumbled upon«Hot Woks Cool Sushi» while I was leisurely strolling around downtown during an unseasonably warm 80-degree spring day in April. After nonchalantly finding myself near Willis Tower, I decided I was hungry and busted out my trusty Unilocal app on my celly. The usual Potbelly’s, Chipotles, and Panera Breads weren’t enticing and I decided to try something new. This place has a cool name, but more importantly from looking at the menu, they had Chow Mein cantonese-style! Located across the street from Willis Tower on Adams, the venue is what you expect for a trendy downtown restaurant. The place was packed for the lunch hour. The restaurant had a partial second floor, where guest can decide to dine in on. As mentioned, the place was rather trendy looking, with accent lighting and an accent lit giant Buddha sitting on a wall. I ordered the chicken chow mein togo. The chicken chow mein came in two containers — one for the crispy noodles, the other for the actual dish — chicken, super amounts of cornstarched gravy, and some stir fried veggies. The noodles were cooked to a perfect crisp. I wish the container contained more because the chicken was drenched in gravy. No worries, I forked over the ingredients and drained the gravy. It was tasty, but honestly, I’ve had better chow mein. Nothing really stood out with the food. I think the restaurant’s décor stood out more than the food. Next time around though, I would like to try out their sushi and see how it is. All-in-all, decent food, but nothing stood out too much. The staff was nice and friendly and my food did come out quick. Ambiance was trendy. BATHROOMREVIEW: Super clean, and quiet surprisingly. The sinks were interesting — they had goldfish decorations on them. Nothing like washing your urine hands with goldfish swimming in them. The stall was clean and sturdy. Sit or squat? Sit!

A popular place for the lunch rush. Delicious sushi, Thai, and Chinese food. As we had a party of nine, I tried to make a reservation a day before. When I made a call around noon time, the receptionist didn’t have the time to take the reservation and told me call back in the afternoon. When I called again, she has the time now but asked me to tell her the credit card # to guarantee the seats for us. Really?! Instead I called the same day at 10:45am and made the reservation without telling my credit card #. People were in a long queue to be seated around noon time. It took a while to get us seated. We ordered as quickly as possible after we waved a waiter over to take our order. The food arrived about 20 minutes later which should give us enough time to chat. Except I could barely hear the conversation on our table because it was super noisy in the lobby. The veggie spring rolls was crunchy outside and refreshing inside with avocado and bean sprouts. They put two spring rolls in a plate but cut those up to twelve pieces which was good for out table to share. But I felt it was kind of overpriced at $ 5.95. The seaweed salad was pretty good too. I was not too sure if seaweed should be mixed with the mixed greens. I probably like them separately. I ordered Harajuku sushi rolls which were fresh and tasty with a nice kick of spiciness of fresh Jalapeño pieces. I loved the interesting new taste in those rolls. The Chinese dishes like Cashew chicken and Garlic chicken look very americanized. My coworkers liked those. I was actually eyeing on the Panang curry bowl which was emptied quickly by another co-worker. He loved it. That is what I will order next time. The services were fine. All staff were running around and trying to get everyone served. It was a bit hectic for us especially you almost have to yell to let the people sit across from you hear what you are saying.
