If you are in the market for an amazing facial, Mandy at Indira is your girl! She is amazing. I almost don’t want to write this review so that her schedule doesn’t get more booked — haha. But seriously, she is the best. She explains the whole process to you, gets to know what you like, what works for your skin etc. She helped me create a great facial schedule leading up to my wedding last year as well. I have been to other Aveda salons in the past who have been pretty pushy about selling products to you. Mandy will mention the products, but is not pushy about purchasing at all, which makes checking out more comfortable than with many other Aveda employees. The facials are so relaxing and you leave feeling clean and glowing. Highly recommend!

For the second time in a row, I came in for a simple wax and had to wait in the store for 20 minutes before it could happen. The first time I came in at my appointed time and was never told why I needed to wait, and the second time when I checked in they let me know that they had scheduled the appointment wrong. Not sure if I just got unlucky both times. Either way, their service isn’t good enough to have me try a third time. Definitely going somewhere else next time.

Mandy’s facials are beyond amazing. After 3+ years of facials every 8 weeks, I am pretty sure I have the authority to say — it’s well worth the money. Many is super attentive, from the second time I visited she remembered specifics about my skin, about my preferences and about our conversations. Her facials are always unique depending on my skin, the weather and what’s new at the store. And after years of eye brow waxing, I can say — my face looks more like my face after Mandy shapes my brows (I’ve tried others — no one is as good).
Needless to say I will be going back and might even try their hair services.

I’m not sure how to start this review. I came in Tuesday, 1÷12÷16, at 10:45 to be a model for someone interviewing for a job (highlight/​lowlight/​cut). I thought she was auditioning for a stylist position, but it turns out she’s still in school at the Aveda institute and it’s just for reception. We had a consultation with one of the instructors present and I felt confident despite her still being a student, I’d love my color/​cut once it was done because she’d be actively looked over and if something was wrong, it would be fixed.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. She ended up leaving bleach on ¾ of my hair for FOUR+ hours, so the damage is AWFUL and the other ¼ wasn’t left on long enough. There were stylists who were sitting around and saw what was going on but never once said to her, «Hey, I know you’re still working on that section, but this needs to be rinsed out ASAP» and that REALLY bothers me. She messed up with her sectioning/​foil placement/​slicing and that left some of my hair stripy and some parts were completely untouched and lines of demarcation are very visible at the crown of my head. A glaze should have also been put on also to eliminate any brass left in my hair and mask put on to add some protein in back, which to my knowledge, wasn’t done.
At this point, it’s 4:00 and she still had to cut and blowout my hair before 5:30. I could tell she was very overwhelmed. She was freaking out about time and started to rush;actually had to leave before her work was looked over to make it to class on time (which is incredibly unprofessional and rude) and kept saying «I should have just had my mom come in, I would have been out of here 3 hours ago *laughs*».
As far as the cut itself goes, it’s honestly the worst I’ve ever had and I’m not really too picky with it. It’s shorter than discussed, which I can live with. However, the layering is choppy and the cut as a whole is pretty uneven/​blended poorly. I just wanted long, soft layers and some weight to be taken out to make it easier to manage, but now it’s heavier than before I came in.
Her instructor gave her permission to leave for class and said shed check over the cut, which to an extent she did. She went through and touched up some parts, but had another client and understandably didn’t have the time to spend fixing me. I wasn’t able to fully inspect my hair until I got home to rewash (because all of the bleach wasn’t rinsed out of my hair) and dry.
I’m truly just upset and disappointed by this whole experience because this is something I’d expect from Borics, not an Aveda salon. I’m sure the stylists do a great job on their own clients, but weren’t too concerned about me because I was a model.

I’ve been seeing Shara for two years straight now (my first long term relationship with a stylist– haha!) and I love her! The whole experience — peppermint oil head and shoulder massage before the haircut and hand massage during the hairwash — is incredibly relaxing. I feel their prices for services are very fair for the service you get. Their products are on the expensive side but Aveda products are worth it in my opinion. Also, when I stop in to get a dog biscuit with my dog, the staff are always friendly and love petting him.

I go to see Anna for haircuts here. She is on the more affordable end of the spectrum and an absolute delight. Every time I’ve gone in for a hair cut, I walk away feeling amazing!
My hair is a little tricky, due to medical problems it thins out in certain areas and I’ve been embarrassed about getting it cut because of facing judgment from hair dressers as I have in the past. A few months ago I went in for a consultation. I showed Anna my bald patches and asked her if she could work with it and she said she could. Not only did she do a great job at hiding the bald patches, she also did an amazing job at styling and cutting my hair! There was no judgment, and no settling for a lesser haircut because my hair was too thin. She did not ask any invasive questions about it either, which was a huge concern for me. Since that consultation, I’ve been in three times to have her do my hair. My latest cut left me feeling so great that I felt this review had to be written.
She is great at getting the style and cut down perfectly. She is incredibly charismatic, very talented and sweet as can be. I’m so glad I found such an amazing hair dresser!
Indira itself is a very welcoming salon. You even get a nice hot towel and hand massage when they wash your hair, it’s a nice taste of luxury! Scheduling appointments is easy and the staff itself is always very friendly. I always look forward to coming back.

I have been going to Audrey for almost a year now. She always gives me exactly what I’m looking for! The service and staff is outstanding. Highly recommended!

Booked a last minute haircut with Elle and was very happy. Everyone was super friendly and I professional. I will definitely be going back!

I was referred to Isabel by my sister when we both lived a few blocks away from Indira. I moved to West Town but keep going back despite the inconvenience, because Indira is clean and comfortable. Isabel is always supportive and honest, and she remembers your personal details.
We also went here for hair and make-​up before my sister’s wedding last summer. I booked the hair and make-​up, and they were very understanding about me needing time to rouse the bridesmaids for their payments. They also let us bring a full spread of snacks and mimosa fixings. Isabel did the bride’s hair and makeup, and the rest of the bridesmaids looked perfect, too. The guy who did my hair was very personable and talented. He advised me not to do bottom eyeliner for the wedding but I didn’t listen — totally regret going against his advice based on the pictures. Now, even my sister’s husband has given up his $ 10 dude hair cuts and goes to Isabel. Huge difference. Trust Indira’s team!

I’m a jerk for not having Unilocaled «my place» after being a customer here for a long time. I’m an Irish Lass and have been blessed with not only a head of thick curly hair, but the fifty shades of gray as well! I don’t know what I’d do without…
Kacy. I see her every six weeks not only because I love a salon service but because I have to! She retouches my hair every 6 weeks and we will throw in an occasional highlight. Just recently she added some gold tones because I was getting a little washed out looking. She’s the expert and never fails me in making me feel great. I know my hair is not easy to style; however, lacy never lets me leave un-​styled. My last visit included a low out where she flips the brush around some secret way and I leave looking like a movie star.
Just when you think your experience at the salon couldn’t get better… You’ll be introduced to Mandy or maybe Kayla. I see Mandy for Brazilian waxes and have never been happier. Quick, comfortable, and really painless. Do it, you won’t be disappointed. Bless Kayla for her strong hands and arms. She gives a deep tissue that would surprise men. Very intuitive and focuses on the spots you want.

Megan is absolutely wonderful! I have had many facials over the years and she is by far the most knowledgable and helpful:) She assesses my skin each time and actually listens to my concerns/​hopes to achieve from each facial. I will not go to anyone else, she is so great! And super friendly!

If you only read part of this review, know this: GO GET YOUR HAIR CUT/​COLORED WITH KYM. She is a fantastic stylist for both cuts and coloring, and does an amazing job no matter what the request. There are not enough words to express how great she is, but I will try:
–She is great from a trim, to a full blown new haircut. I went to her when I had long hair for trims, and went to her when I chopped it all off (about 6 inches!).
–She is amazing at coloring. Every time I get highlights they look incredibly natural. Most recently I’ve tried out the balayage trend — some how she even makes this look natural on my dark hair.
–She is super friendly and so easy to talk to, but also the type of person that it’s not awkward when you sit in her chair in silence either. You know exactly what I’m talking about.
Kym is worth every penny!

I went there yesterday without an appointment so they had Collin available he was amazing really nice person, so gentle, the service was good also. However the final look was bad I hate the hair cut, cuz he totally didn’t do nothing of I told him. I want a lot of layers but I got none I want it as a V form I got it straight. I look like 30 years old instead of a 21 casual fun girl. One side is longer than the other. And his blow dry was a mess it looks puffy and not well organized. I will not recommend this place if you don’t have the straight easy type of hair, not like my curly hair. I will not go there again. So I just have to wait a couple of weeks more until my hair is longer and do it all over again

Colin is a hair saver. Not only is he extremely talented and professional at the art of all types of highlights; he is charming and really authentic in every way. I hope he never moves away because he will have to take me with him!
This was my first time with Colin and the salon and I am so grateful I found him. I used the reference that finding him is like finding the golden snitch. Seriously, he is a gem.
My girlfriend referred me after she received beautiful Balayge treatment. I am so THANKFUL I did because he gave me exactly the sun kissed natural highlights that I have always wanted.
I almost don’t want to refer him out because I want him all to myself but the guy needs serious props and accolades. Hats off and I can’t wait to go back.

This lovely salon continues to be the bane of my existence, and if you are still spending your hard earned money here, I would encourage you to stop and spend it with people that don’t mistreat their customers.
After months of fighting to get a refund and making a claim, I was finally charged with the full amount of the hair color service that ruined my hair in July. No follow-​up from Indira, no messages from their management staff, nothing. How sad.
What a shame that paying customers are treated this way.

Wonderful facial with Kym and massage with Kayla. They were both very good. Elemental facial includes a lot of massage on your feet, arms and shoulders. Kym customized it to my skin type and favorite scent. Very relaxing and hydrating. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because they don’t have a spa like waiting room. The services were very good and well priced!

Mandi at Southport is amazing for facials and eyebrow waxing. She makes the facial so relaxing you leaving feeling like a new person. She ask you questions so she knows what you are looking for. My skin felt amazing!

I could no longer take my long locks with this humid weather we are having this summer. My hair used to be past my chest so it was like a year-​round fur coat on my neck.
Anyway, I went here because it is one of the closest salons to my apartment off of Southport and my usual stylist was not available during the times I was at the salon I usually go to. I was impatient to get my hair cut off and let my neck breathe a little. I was optimistic to come here because I hadn’t had a bad hair cut experience in years and honestly I trust the person wants to do a good job. Plus the reviews are mostly good for this place… so why not!
Ugh, well a couple bucks later, an uneven choppy hair cut, and a headache from all of the perfumed oils that went on my scalp, I am not a happy camper.
Maybe the stylist was having a bad day or wasn’t feeling good. You never know! I won’t fault them for a poor job, however I will not be coming back here anytime soon.

This review is only for the eyebrow wax I just had last week. I get my hair done at Indira, by Isabelle and she is awesome. Perfect cut /​color and so friendly and easy to chat with. No issues there!
I needed to come in for a bang trim between haircuts, so decided to get my eyebrows done while I was there. Kacy was super nice and chatty, and I really liked her. However, I noticed she left the hard wax on longer than I had ever experienced before. I even asked her about this, and she said it made it easier to pull off. I didn’t think anything of it. When I got home, my brows were still red and hurt a little, but I thought it would go away by the next day. The next morning I was left with two burns straight across the skin under my eyebrows. 3 days later and the burns are painful and now starting to peel. Thank goodness for my bangs to hide these ugly marks!
I’ll continue to get my hair cut here, but will never take advantage of the waxing services again!

So I was in desperate need for a facial so I checked out my fav deal spot. I found Calli on there.
She was giving $ 30 facials with a foot and hand massage… how can I resist? I cant!

Overall, its a great little salon/​spa. The only annoying thing was the scheduling of the facial. I got transferred like 5 times by a voice recording and then had to leave a message. It was kind of frustrating, but finally we got it worked out.
The facial/​massage was great! She used all the new anti aging line on me… which I need since I have hit the 30’s mark… EEEeeekkkkkk!
Overall, I would definitely go back on a deal. I dont love Aveda salons, but overall I like them… they are growing on me over the years. She also handed me a form with all of the recommendations for my skin, but what I did like… there was no pressure to buy. I find at most Aveda salons, they really pressure you into their products.
