BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!! this is no joke the worst hair salon experience I have EVER had! I was recommend by a friend to come here so I gave them a chance, and I never will again. My fiancée and I had an appointments at 1230 and we arrived at 1215. When we enter the tiny hair salon jon jon (the owner) simply looked at us and when back to work. no one greeted us or even said hello. We took our seat and waited for our 1230 appointment. 1230 came and went, when around1 pm another woman entered the salon (it was assumed her appointment was after ours).
at 130 I was beginning to get frustrated when Jon jon finally finished his client and went ahead and took the 1 pm lady even though we had been there since 1215. When my fiancée confronted jon jon about taking her ahead of us, he got really angry. He told us that if we didn’t like it that we could leave. My fiancée was shocked and said to him «but our appointment was at 1230 how can you take someone ahead of us». He then go even angrier and proceeded to tell us that our appointment was at 1 pm and he had proof through his text messages (yess…he makes his appointments through text messages… very unprofessional) and so that technically he was only 30 min. behind and that we should be grateful that he «snuck us into the schedule». I then told he that we were not aware he was «sneaking us into» the schedule and told him I would have much rather came when he has actual time to assisted us.
He then told my fiancée that he d cut his hair in 5 minutes and then move onto me…(who wants to pay $ 25 for a 5 minute haircut!) He then once again proceeded to tell us that if we didn’t like it we should leave. My fiancée then showed him the text message which clearly stated the appointment was at 1230 NOT 1 pm. He then told us «well It doesn’t matter! …like I said if you don’t like it you can leave!» keep in mind he was doing this in front of other clients which is sooo unprofessional. well obviously we did not stay. a few minutes later we received immature text messages from jon jon in regards to the situation. needless to say we WILL NEVER COME BACK. not everyone is meant to own a business and jon jon is definitely not one of them… We left his salon and went to a 5 star salon and gladly paid twice the amount per haircut. STAY AWAY

Two words about John’s skills: Rock.Star. I was amazed at how John handled all 7 of my bridesmaids and myself for my wedding this past weekend. Not only does he have incredible vision and creativity but he can actually execute as well! And, he’s freaking hilarious on top of it all! I live in Cali but am definitely going to make a trip to Chicago the next time I need my «hair did». Love, love, love…

Great haircut! Been a client for about 6 years… I remember asking a good friend where she would get her haircut since she had such beautiful hair and beautifully styled– She recommended John and after the first cut, I don’t dare to go anywhere else. I love going to JJ because he is very good at explaining what cut will look best on you. Of course he will do as you request but even if you’ve been getting the same hair cut somewhere else for years– you will notice a difference in a good way. I really like going to JJ because there are times when I’ve needed a change and he has recommended hair cuts that I never thought I would try– I’ve gotten to trust him and give it a try — The few changes I’ve made throughout the seasons and years have always been a hit!

Wonderful staff and creative up-​to-​the-​minute styling! I would seriously recommend coming here for all your styling needs. Jessica is bomb-tastic…that is if you want perfectly shaped brows, flawless makeup and of course an awesome haircut. John’s been in the biz for years so trust that you are in good hands. They don’t take forever like some salons and I always walk out with a little extra pep in my step ;)

I have been going to John now for about 2 years… I had been bouncing around from stylist to stylist looking for someone to revive my limp, brittle hair and my cousin sent me his way… She called him a HAIR MAGICIAN… and let me tell you she was not lying!
His new loft location is awesome! Its sleek, sexy and modern… but most of all comfortable, and doesnt feel like your traditional hair salon. You feel like your visiting a friend at their condo and just happen to be getting a haircut too.
Needless to say, I haven’t let anyone touch my hair since I started seeing John… my hair feels healthier than ever.
I had an appointment today and decided to make it a Girls hair date with my Mom and Sister, making them appointments too… A little about my mom… shes used to cheap, low maintenance haircuts and likes it that way… but I can’t tell you how happy she was when John was done with her. She couldnt stop looking in the mirror and talking about how much she loved it. After today she claimed her hair belongs to John lol.
Anyway… I can go on and on… but if you havent seen John at JJ Studio… I highly recommend you make an appointment soon to let him work his magic on your hair!

Totally impressed with John-​John!
I started going to John-​John back in 2009 soon after I moved to Wicker Park. At that time, he was working in a hair salon on Division, but he has since moved to Salon Chick on Chicago Ave in Ukranian Village.
Why do I like JJ Studio? First of all, John-​John is the BEST styler I know. Kind of funny to say, but he has some sweet hair drying skills. Second, I have long hair and can be really picky about the way stylists cut the layers, but I’ve loved every haircut I’ve gotten from John-​John. Third, he was the one who helped connect me with my fiancé. Long story… but without him I probably wouldn’t be typing at this computer right now with a ring on my finger :)
John-​John will definitely be doing my hair for the wedding!
