The woman at the front was rude and had an attitude. I ordered a strawberry smoothie, which comes standard with tapioca. She came out with a plain smoothie, no tapioca and proceeded to tell me that I did not ask for tapioca and she would add it next time. She did nothing but watch TV and ignored the filthy environment. I definitely won’t go back.

Excellent food. I usually always get the tomato tom yum soup and they are great because they make it vegetarian for me. Very sweet people! Definitely recommend checking this little place out.

I’ve never taken the time to review, but I’d like to keep my favorite Chinese restaurant going strong. The food is NY style Chinese favorites, but made with far more care and better quality ingredients. I love the Curry Chicken, my wife loves the egg rolls, and my son is crazy about the Crab Rangoon. The owner recognizes me and is so polite. Overall, the best quick Chinese experience on my long list.

What a surprise. I have driven by several times and never had a chance to stop but a friend gave it a high reccomedation so being a big fan of Chinese food, a friend and I stopped in. We were greeted by the owners which never happens at the cookie cutter Corporate chain restaurants. First order was the veggie egg roll which was cooked to perfection. I had the Lo Mein with vegetables which was the best I ever had. The veggies were cooked so they were crunchy not mushy which indicated to me that the chef was watching over my order and paying attention. I live in Lincon Park so I am used to paying the inflated prices that are indigenous to the restaurants in my neighborhood. The prices here were beyond reasonable and the food was five stars. I always try the vegetable soup to find out if the veggies are fresh and they were. My friend who is 250 pounds had the beef and broccoli and could not finish it because the portion was so big but he did rave about it. Lisa made a suggestion and offered service that was better than the Four Seasons without the pretentious attitude or high prices. Chef Simon came out to ask how things were. This NEVERHAPPENSINLINCOLNPARK. Did I say fantastic? Yes, it was. This Café is local, well run and will be added to my favorites list. What a find!

Right now… I’m at one star. I ordered on grub hub at 6:40pm. Originally my order delivery time was 7:40pm. Then I got a text that said 8:00 — 8:10pm. It’s now 8:22 and I still don’t have dinner. I guess I’ll update when I get the food… if I ever get my food. *edit* 8:38 — still no food. *edit* 8:45 — the food finally arrived and Grubhub comped it. Sadly, not worth the wait. My husband’s pad thai was so oily and inedible that he just threw it in the trash and poured himself a bowl of cereal. My shrimp was described as «spicy» on the menu, but not fried — so I peeled the fried part off before eating. The green beans were also super oily, AND they forgot my diet coke. Safe to say we won’t be ordering from here again.

I’ve eaten both in the restaurant on a Thursday evening and delivery on Sunday evening. If you like Kim Chee, give it a try. I thought it was very good, with a clean bright flavor and the effervescence of fermented napa cabbage dancing light on the tongue. When I was in the restaurant, some other customers mentioned that the deserts were really good, but I have not yet had a chance to try them. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp with Spicy Noodles,(Both times) because I liked it so much. This dish is a little different than you might expect, with the shrimp deep fried and butterflied and set on top of the noodles, which were nicely spicy and mixed with onions and bean sprouts. I liked it a lot, and the portions were generous enough to count as two servings. The dipping sauce for the shrimp was really tasty and a bit unusual, almost like sweet & sour sauce meets apple pie. My fiancée had the BBQ Pork Fried Rice, which I tried too. It was good, but nothing outstanding. The Veggie Spring Rolls were really good. I had a bit of communication difficulty when ordering the delivery, but that’s due to the crappy cell reception in my own apartment, not any other reason. This restaurant is on Grub Hub, so you can always just order via your computer, if you are feeling like a hermit.(Which is what I ended up doing.)

I’m so glad I stopped by this place! The food was fresh, hot, and delicious! I haven’t found another Chinese or Thai restaurant near West Rogers Park that I like very much, so I was hesitant to go in. But the food really good! We will definitely be back.

Typical. I have driven past many many times, I’ve stopped and looked in and have glanced at the menu several times however it had never sparked an interest. Pan Asian cuisine can mean a lot of things and not necessarily or always a good thing. The other day it was a hella cold weekday and I wondered whether it would be warm enough inside to sit and dine. The place sits on McCormick /Kimball and its all window’s. It was 6 degrees F and that’s the kind of cold that permeates glass. Regardless, I decided to be their first and only customer at that time of the day.(On a side note, the parking lot was almost full at 1:30 pm mainly due to a great amount of retired folk dining at Little Quiapo(a Filipino restaurant) which shares the parking lot. Walking in I was greeted by vents pumping hot air into the room on full blast. That was a nice warm welcome so I grabbed a seat underneath. One flat screen on an opposite wall displaying soap operas, being that it was empty, I wondered who requested this on the boob tube. Although the space is minimal, they have situated about eight or so tables which could seat about close to thirty during a full seating. Tables are spaced and it is not cramped. The surrounding is comfortable, chairs are nice on the backside though this isn’t your common sit and relax style dining, more of a on the go Chinese food experience. I sat about a two or three minutes before an employee emerged from the kitchen and greeted me. (FYI If you have the Unilocal app, they currently offer a special with checking in) I got in in time for the lunch special, however did not make use of the Unilocal check in special, saved for another time. After chit chatting with what seemed to be one of the owners, I decided on the Spicy rice noodles with shrimp, this comes with two thumb sized spring rolls and a cup of fresh made soup. Also ordered a single egg roll(with meat). A few minutes later he emerged from the kitchen with Hot & sour soup I ordered, he hung out to chat a bit. Typically I would ready the the chili sauce or Sriracha(red rooster) sauce since a nice dollop, makes it spicy and good. For this soup, nothing extra was needed. The tastes were great to the last drop. I mentioned this detail to my server. He added, «some people think lunch special so we keep some big pot of lots of soup ready, this is not true. Made fresh every time.» I could taste it and it was good. I hadn’t yet completed my soup before the single egg roll was then served and a few minutes later my entrée. They commented they could bring the food out slower but I insisted it stay on the table. When I placed the order I was beside myself choosing between the spicy rice noodle or the«Coca Cola chicken». «Coca cola» grab your attention? Think Orange chicken but instead of orange zest, coca cola. I guess its a local fan favorite. So about the spicy rice noodle, plump pieces of tasty shrimp and a mound of the rice noodles with assorted vegetables. This dish is best for lovers of pad Thai. The lunch special had enough to satisfy for one sitting for the eager and for those that eat light it could easily be two meals. I liked that the food was fresh and this is not a common theme amongst fast Chinese food restaurants. I must be on a roll because this is my second find of this kind of restaurant locally. I’m thinking I’ll keep them as part of my local take out list. I didn’t mention the egg rolls did I? First you can tell it’s made in house because its longer and the stuffing and wrapping different than common places where its mass produced. A single is $ 1.75 and its good, I ended up having two. The sweet and sour sauce and subtly sweet hot mustard are also made in house. Love that. Being that I wasn’t a fan of my entrée, I liked everything else and its preparation makes me want to return. I agree with another Unilocaler that said pricing is a little steep on some items. Solid 3.5 star experience but since we can’t have«halfsies», we’ll give’em a four. Afterwards, I felt good. Not like having mass produced fast food Chinese of the likes of Panda express.

So i ordered thecrab rangoon and phad thai. i go in to pick it up and i wanted to pay with credit card so they write all the information down on a piece of paper which made me feel really uncomfortable. then i try one of the crab rangoon and it tastes almost like its rancid. then i open my phad thai and suprise suprise they gave me chicken fried rice. so even then EVENTHEN i try it to be just like«whatever» and it tastes like nothing. this place is awful i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.

Décor and sign very appealing, it drew me in. Menu was posted outside their door which is a great idea. i was impressed with the thai and chinese food. Prices were a bit hefty than what i’m used to seeing at other places, but i figured i’d give it a try. I decided to stick to something simple and that i always enjoy at other places, Mongolian Beef. Waited for about 5−10minutes, quiet day. Got home and i seriously thought i got the wrong order. I don’t know if this was a «pan asian» thing, but all i got was small slices of beef, tons of watery sauce and sliced onions — thats it!!! No Green onions, no white crunchy décor thing on top! i was soooooooo disappointed! Just thinking of my experience, i just killed another star and dropped my rating to 1 star. Kam Kong Café — you made my cry :(

This is a nice, clean little storefront restaurant with a fairly extensive menu. I tried the Mongolian Beef and Christopher had the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Both were good, but not knock your socks off good. I found the prices to be a tad high on the entrees in relationship to what you got, but I am willing to try the lunch specials in the future. They do give you a really cool and amazingly tasty new take on the the traditional fortune cookie. It is a scroll. Cool and yummy! We will try things in the future and report back. Till then, I will say I am glad Kam Kong Café has replaced the dreadful Ken’s Mandarin that used to occupy this spot. This place is so much better. I wish them all the success possible.

So my fiancé and I have been waiting for this place to open and I’m glad it finally did. The food was very good. Crab ragoon with homemade sweet a sour sauce was some of the best we’ve had, chicken noodle some taste of homemade, pad Thai was delicious and first time having the mee goreng was really good
