Very disrespectful with patients. Arrived 9:45am for a 10am appointment(they ask to arrive 15 minutes prior) and by 10:30 I had not yet been seen yet; and nobody even explained that they were late or anything. I had to cancel the appt. and return to work. Very disrespectful and inconsiderate with people who work and cannot wait forever. How difficult is it to respect people’s time or at least explain the situation and reschedule?

You won’t feel rushed with this doctor. Spends way more time with you then most doctors these days

Dr. Arbetter has been my ‘go to’ guy for the past five years or so and although the negative reviews are a few years back, I cannot connect those comments with the professional that I have come to know and rely upon. Whenever I’ve asked for him to contact me, I hear back from him the same day. Every family member and friend who needs to find a high-quality, thoughtful physician is referred to him. If you need a doctor that takes the extra step to make sure you stay healthy and informed, you cannot find one better.

I really like Dr. Arbetter — he knows what he’s doing, is to the point(but nice), and is a good doctor overall. Not sure what some of these reviews are all about — 1) you’re going to wait at any doctor, b) do you expect your doctor to tell you how much he/she cares about you, break out in song and dance, or otherwise express their happiness in curing your ailment, and c) 15 minutes is a damn long time — these days, you’re lucky if you get five.

I eventually received my report in May. It turned out that although I updated my address during my visit, the administrative person forgot to input the new address in the system. Dr. Arbetter has since been very helpful and I have put my past disappointing experience behind me.

I am very surprised by the negative reviews on this board. I have seen Dr. Arbetter three times and have found him to be very patient, knowledgeable, and thorough. He’s been very attentive and I don’t feel like he’s rushing me through when I visit him. He also errs on the side of caution. I think the worst that can be said of him is that he’s more substance than style, and I consider that a positive. But if you’re looking for«style» from your PCP, then I suppose look elsewhere.

If I could give out 0 stars I would. He is the worst Dr. I have ever been to. TERRIBLE bed side manner and ZERO personality. He makes no effort to make patients feel comfortable or important. I will be finding another Dr. ASAP and would encourage other patients to do the same. If you have not seen him DONOT! There are thousands of Dr’s in Chicago that care about you and your health.

I agree with the two most recent posters. Dr. Arbetter will listen to everything you have to say, and elicit information you didn’t think was important or had forgotten. His follow up communication after diagnostic tests is the most thorough of any physician I’ve seen in my 50+ years. His caring is reflected in the time he takes in every interaction. His support is no less real just because it is not«over the top.» I’ve seen plenty of doctors who listen for five minutes, talk for one, slap you on the back and leave — and you’re left thinking what a great guy he is, but confused about what actually happened in the appointment. I’d rather have a «bedside manner» which is calm and professional, which Dr. Arbetter provides.

I’ve been a patient of his for about 5 years now. KA is the ultimate professional. If you’re looking for a ‘buddy’ in your doctor visits, move on. But, if you’re looking for a caring professional who is thorough, cautious with treatments, and definitely into taking time to teach his patients about their medical conditions, then go to KA. I was 55 years old when I began seeing him and, in one visit(and lab work), he discovered a vitamin D deficiency that I’ve probably had forever. Made a big difference in my life. He is a patient man, generally. But he is not the guy to provide tons of emotional support. He’s business-like, professional and that’s what I look for in a doctor. I recently sent a friend to him who was blown away by his physical, lab work, follow up and other diagnostic tests(age-related) provided by Dr. Arbetter.
