I ordered a mangonada and their man do was so hard I couldn’t even chew it! How do you serve customers hard green mango? Would you eat it? Then don’t serve it! Then I tried getting my refund for the 2 I bought and the lady was rude and said she would only refund one of them. It wasn’t the owner she’s a nice lady. It must of been her sister because she looked like her. Also, the hours are horrible and half the time they aren’t even open at the time it says in the door They need to keep their hours. If you are looking for a GOOD place go to the one on Clark street it’s before morse they are open late and have delicious stuff

My favorite are the popsicles, especially the pistachio, coconut, and caramel. The ice cream are also delicious. The mangonada is fantastic, though not for everyone’s palate. This place is fantastic. A real treasure in Andersonville.

I want to update my review from last time. The only reason why I give them 1 star is because their service has been lacking the last few times I have been in here. It’s mainly due to the Elotes(corn on the cob). First of all, I’m Hispanic and love my Elotes so I was excited to have this spot open up near my place. However I’m disappointed, the last couple of times the elote has been cold, tasteless and with lots of mayonnaise and too much cheese. People might like it with a lot of that but honestly, a good elote has a good balance between all the ingredients and is typically served warm rather than cold. Pienso que pueden hacer un elote mucho mejor.

Actually saw the open sign lit up for once! Got a parking spot right in front yesterday. Walked in, two ladies were sitting at a table chopping up strawberries. Place was empty so had no line to be rushed thru. Was told that all the ice cream was made on site. We sampled about 8 different ice cream flavors before we chose to take home 5 containers. We blew $ 22 but it was worth every nickel. The Rum Raisin is VERY good. It tastes even better than the Haagen Daas brand(to me it does). The cotton candy one was excellent, but that doggone coffee/chocolate one was off the chain. Baskin Robbins will never be out of the picture but it has to take a back seat now. See this is what life should be all about. Enjoying the little things, being happy to try something new then go spend money you shouldn’t but you only live once here. I think anyone that gives it a try will not be let down. We were very pleased with the consistency, the richness, the creaminess & how generous she was in piling the containers full of this icy, frozen, smoooooooth stuff that you can’t help but suck down when you really want to savor this for a long time. Order a cone for now, take a container home for later!!!

I drove all the way over to the establishment and the door was open and unlocked and no one was there during business hours. How do you leave your business wide open??? Really disappointing. I Waited inside maybe they needed a bathroom break maybe they ran to the car??? Who knows so I called the business # from Unilocal… No answer rang all the way through. Called again I was sent to Vm after 3 rings… Unreliable… Maybe I’ll try another time. Maybe not… I was very excited… the chamango looked delicious…

Thank you, La Mariposa Michoacana, for making rushing home on a weekday to catch the elotes man during an elotes craving a thing of the past. I love how all of these Mexican paleterias/street food places are popping up, the closest one to me being in north Andersonville. Let me tell you that La Mariposa is going to be the death of me! I see myself here every weekend ordering elotes, nachos, and either a paleta or mangonada. It was my first time having a mangonada this past weekend and I looooved everything about it; the chamoy sauce, mango sherbet, fresh mangos, and the tamarind straw… all of those ingredients created perfection. La Mariposa has a decent variety of paletas and ice creams; they have Mexican street food as well as other snacks such as nachos and fries. Service is friendly and the seating area is clean and a good enough size. From the times I’ve been there, the seating area has never been fully occupied. People usually go there to pick something up and leave. Definitely a wonderful addition to the neighborhood!

This place was awesome. It was super clean and the staff was really nice! The wife and I both got Mangonadas and they were outstanding, I got a scoop of lime in mine as well. We will be back for sure!

The ice cream is hands down the most delicious I’ve had ever!!! The mangonada is to die for again if you like spicy then that’s the way to go! Can’t complain they have every type of ice cram you can imagine and not your typical favors. This is totally a place Togo to enjoy some delicious homemade ice cream

The girl working the counter was super sweet. They have tequila, strawberry cheesecake, and horchata ice cream flavors. The tequila one was sooooo good, but my favorite was hands down the horchata flavor. The elotes are super delicious, my friends ended up grabbing two more just to take home.

A delightful paleta(ice pop) & ice cream shop just 1 blk west of Clark St madness. They have an large assortment of flavors such as coconut, mamey, raspberry(this was very tasty), chocolate, arroz de leche, etc. Plus scoopable ice cream. Cash only. A must before your Clark St stroll or after meal treat. Mmmm

Great range of homemade popsicles(aqua y crema), sorbets, and ice creams. You can also get mangonadas, fresas con crema, yogurt con frutas, along with savory treats(cheetos/nachos con queso and chicharrones preparados). We tried a kiwi crema popsicle along with their guava sorbet(careful crunching those edible seeds) and their Gansita ice cream(has bits of the Mexican snack cake mixed in — some say like Twinkie, with a chocolate coating and strawberry jelly inside). It’s great to see neverias opening on the north side, let alone ones that are making a go for it year round. We already have one close to home in Rogers Park… this one gives us flexibility when we’re out further or driving with company.
