Maria’s is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant. I have eaten at hundreds of different mexican restaurants in my life and nothing beats Maria’s. Their salsa is always fresh and their food is the best. The burrito suizo is amazing. 5 stars without a doubt.

The margaritas are strong. The food is good. Or maybe the food is good because the margaritas are strong? Definitely a place worth checking out. I actually visited this place a few months ago and I really enjoyed the waiter(I can’t remember his name) but he definitely got me to order more than I intended. Good local spot to grab drinks and stuff.

My cousins just love this restaurant and now I get it. Maria’s is nothing fancy but they are super friendly & the food is great. We even ran into some of the neighborhood«village» people — which if you’re from the village, you know that they all just love each other because it is such a wonderful community. Our server Alyssa could not have been nicer. She was really attentive without being annoying, she always knew the perfect time to come up and break into the conversation. She was great about filling our glasses with the Sangria, but she also did one better. Most servers once you are done with the meal can’t give you the check fast enough on a slow night. Alyssa asked us if we needed another round, we didn’t… but it was nice to be asked. Alyssa also was great once she found out it was my first time(& I’m a super pale gringa & safe guess I don’t understand a word of Spanish) explaining to me what suizo means. She was pretty cool & just wanted to make sure I understood that a sauce came covering the burrito. We had the Sangria and it was pretty good. I normally don’t care for Sangria because it is too sweet but this was perfect. I also really liked the guacamole. It had just enough spices and I liked that it did not rely on salt like so many do for flavor. I also LOVED that the chips were not greasy. I know some people like them like that but I don’t. Greasy & I don’t love each other nor do salt & I. Nothing makes me happier than a cheat day that doesn’t get sad with foods I can’t eat because of grease or excessive salt. I thought my burrito suizo was excellent. I’ve never had that before and I was glad I tried it. It was a total cheat day for me and Maria’s made sure that it tasted every bit as good as you want a cheat day to taste! YUM!

It’s been about 8 years or so since I’ve been here to eat. I grew up a few blocks from this place and met friends here Friday night. At 7:30 there was a minimal wait. Let’s just say I’m glad I filled up on the chips & salsa which our server was great with accomodating us with refills. I just think what I ordered specifically wasn’t up to par. I’m partial for ordering chicken flautas which are supposed to be crispy… the flautas here were not, they give you two ginormous ones, which were on the softer/soggy side. I literally opened them to eat the chicken on the inside. I’m not super picky when it comes to something as simple as this, it was just not what I expected. I do wish I got an order of guacamole though, the guac they topped these soggy flautas with was VERY good! So basically the 3 stars for this place were for service, the sangria(also very good!), the chips & salsa, and the guacamole. I don’t live in this area anymore, so not really sure when I’ll be back, but if I return I’d probably opt for something else on the menu.

I would consider Maria’s to be fine. It is clean, the service is decent, and we can always get in. I have eaten there twice. We ended up there recently — after trying two other Mexican restaurants in the area first(the first was closed because they had a power outage, the second had a very long wait and we didn’t have reservations) — so we decided to try our luck at Maria’s. It was 7 pm on a Saturday, and we were seated after 10 minutes. We ordered guacamole, which was fine. My husband ordered steak fajitas, I ordered the combo plate. What I appreciated about the combo plate is that you can order any type of taco/tostada/enchilada they offer and you can sub out one item for something else offered on the combo plate — I had two veggie tostadas(rather than a taco and a tostada), and a cheese enchilada with green chile sauce. The waitress also brought me a sample of the sauce before I finalized my order so I knew for sure I wanted the green chile sauce. The combo platter also came with a tamale. The tamale was sad. It seemed old and dry.(It seems to be a trend — perhaps I’m spoiled by the tamale guy in the city? I don’t know why I’m having such a difficult time finding a decent tamale…) The chips are fine — standard chips, but they didn’t have that fresh, greasy chip taste like they had just come out of the fryer which I love. They almost seem like they had come out of a bag. Here is the thing that just puts me off a bit about Maria’s: I understand it’s a kid friendly restaurant, and we have a child ourselves, but the day we were there — the soup of the day was lentil soup with hot dogs. Lentil soup with hot dogs… hmmm. I’ve never seen a recipe for that. And I was wondering why someone would put hot dogs in lentil soup. At a Mexican restaurant. Ham in lentil soup, yes. Bacon in lentil soup, yes. Hot dogs in lentil soup? No. And it makes me question other things. Like everything just needs to take a slight shift toward something ‘more’ to get off of the scale of landing on fine, if that makes any sense at all. Like, it’s not the kind of place from which I care to bring home my leftovers, but like I said, I’ve been more than once, and if someone suggested that we go again, I’d say ‘sure’…but it was our third choice of the evening…

First time visiting this restaurant. Tried the brunch buffee today. The server was very friendly, funny and attentive. We had a large party and they treated us like family visiting and took special care to accommodate the two newborns in our party and the little ones too. The selections were delicious. Some of the options included pancakes, various fruit, steak fajitas, pozole, rice, beans, chicken fajitas, steak and potatoes guisado, tamales, and more. Our party seemed very happy with the options and went back for seconds. We will definitely be returning soon! PS The owner was present and was very friendly and warm. Thank you for a wonderful brunch and for accommodating our large party!

Best strawberry margaritas! Came here with my coworkers and boss. Our boss treated us to pitchers of strawberry margaritas and were so good! I also ordered their flan, small portion but satisfying to a sweet tooth :)

Maria is a cool spot with decent Mexican food. I have been there a few times in the last month or two and both times have been good. It seems like they always have different menu items on special since they gave me a handwritten note with the specials. To me it seemed like most of the people that go there are locals that keep coming back. Service has always been on point and have never had any problems with the meals I have ordered. I have tried their enchiladas and recently the«Pollo Azteca» which were both good. Their margaritas are also very fresh and you can easily swap the tequila for something better if you wish. Usually after 2 margaritas I am already feeling them so thats a good sign for me: D They also have tequila flights however I have not ventured to that just yet. If im in the area I will not hesitate to stop by again.

My friend and I ordered an appetizer platter and for the first time that I can remember, a Mexican restaurant served me a hard shell taco with piles of lettuce and some greasy steak. I was so confused because the menu didn’t indicate anything about it being hard shell so I was assuming it would be on corn tortilla with cilantro and onion. The tamale was good and I liked the chips and salsa that came right away. The service was really great, as was the coffee(they put cinnamon or something in it). I might go back but I would definitely get something else.

After our fav Resteraunt closed I was on the hunt to find a new place. Then my husband mentioned to me we should visit this place. After we visited it we were sold. We love the atmosphere we love the food and the margaritas were awesome. David our waiter was so nice and friendly and he remembered us the second and third time visit. The cook comes in early and cooks all the food from scratch and nothing is prepackaged which is an A+ in my book. I recommend the tacos or the chorizo quesadillas. They could do better in the desert department but I have not found my favorite yet.

This is my second time visiting Maria’s if i wrote this review after my first visit a few months ago it would be alot higher rating but this time i was not pleased the food was decent other then the weird tasting salsa for the chips but what was really discouraging was they nickle and dime everything meaning everything is a extra charge if you want hot sauce for your taco’s ETC and the waiter charged me twice on my credit card because he made a mistake all i can say is the food is decent but i wont be back.

Maria’s is good. It’s not a favorite but definitely place I would eat at again without issue. I have visited twice within the last two months. I ate once at the bar with a friend and the other meal was enjoyed in the dining area. The bar area seems to attract several regulars and is a more lively space. The bartender was busy whipping up drinks the entire time but he took good care of us. We planned to have drinks and move to the dining area but decided to eat there instead. The dining area is nice too. The average meal with a drink is in the $ 20 range. It is higher priced Mexican but prices are not outrageous.

I’m a super fan! We are new to this neighborhood but I predict many, many margaritas and mariachis/boleros in our future. The food was good but since we ordered drinks and appetizers, once we were done I felt that we were being rushed to leave. It was a Friday night and people were lining up at the door so I get it. We have two young kids so we never stay too long anyway. I love the darkness of the interior and the drinks were def strong. They make excellent shrimp ceviche!

Friday, about 5:00 pm. went there with a friend after work for some appetizers and margaritas. margaritas were fine. the guacamole was fine. the queso was fine. the fish tacos? first, where was the fish? chopped up with a bunch of peppers… couldn’t really taste the fish… eaten taco style all it tasted of was peppers and salt. when i took them apart and picked around for the fish tidbits, they were not very good. kind of disappointing, considering the price.

Group of four came here on a Sunday night for dinner. We were seated right away. The server was fairly attentive. The only issue I really had was the food. It wasn’t bad in any way but I felt it just didn’t stand out to me in any way. I ordered the enchiladas en mole and an iced tea. It came with a side salad, which was some lettuce with shredded carrots and dressing. The enchilada plate had some standard beans and rice on the side. The mole sauce was interesting, as it had some deep chili flavors. The only problem is that I feel you can get something similar at other mexican places without having to sit down. Of course if you’re looking for a place to take your time and have a relaxed dinner with mexican food, this is your place.
