The food and coffee are great… friendly staff and you get bang for your buck… except… One Friday morning I came to the café for an iced coffee. The gentleman at the counter… must have been new… older man, asked if I wanted a large or medium. I asked for a large. He poured about 1 cup of steamed milk into a Styrofoam cup, a little ice, and the rest coffee. The ice immediately melted. I asked for a plastic cup so I could use a straw and he seemed confused. He then poured the coffee into a plastic(medium sized cup), threw out the rest, and charged me for a large. The coffee is usually really smooth and perfect, but this one was luke warm and basically milk with a hint of coffee. Hopefully the owner can help him so they don’t lose business… we need more cafes like New Life in the hood!

The food is great, guess the Unilocal coupon is no longer valid. I think the girl up front didn’t want to bother she said they were reorganizing but I think honestly just didn’t wNt to be bothered. The owner came out and was very nice. Didn’t wNt to share his fried chicken recipe tho.

The basil chicken sandwich is on my crave list! Not a huge place, but staff is always friendly and helpful and the coffee prices are very reasonable – I mean, 2.50 for a large café con leche? Awesome.

All I had was coffee. It had way too much sugar. The barista did not seem to know how to use the espresso machine. It was terrible. Would not go back.

It’s a little cozy café filled with students studying. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I walked into the floor community room in a dormitory. Not that it was bad, but it stimulated my college nostalgia. I purchased the groupon deal and was about to expire soon, so I used it before my shift this afternoon. I ordered the basil chicken sandwich(came with chips as well), a large caramel macchiato, and a stack of three(3) snicker doodle cookies… all for $ 2.45. Score! The portion of the coffee was generous. They didn’t have enough seating to accommodate a large group, so I would recommend people who wanna utilize a small group study or just to hang out. The only thing that I wish they could improve is the hours of operation: too bad they don’t open on Saturdays, and Sunday hours are concurrent to the church service. Therefore, the actual café will be closed. I have one(1) more groupon to use before it expires next week. They do accept credit cards(minimum $ 1). All food items were made to order, except pastries were pre-made and pre-packaged.

Pretty good food at a great price. They even have discount days for local businesses. Friendly staff.

The salads have way too much dressing! The Basil Chicken sandwich is the way to go.

I really wanted to like the place, but his noodly appendage reached out to me and spoke, The Flying Spaghetti Monster says that there is a hidden motive involved with christian based organizations to suppress the rights of women, LGBT, and anyone else that doesn’t drink the cool-aid.

New Life Café is truly more than a cup of coffee… This is an amazing social enterprise where the proceeds revert back to programming for women who have been trafficked, those struggling with substance abuse, homeless, or any life controlling challenges. They also support a local homeless men’s shelter. As if that was not enough — the food is excellent. I absolutely crave the Kei Salad and Coconut Oatmeal! YUM. And yes the coffee is great. Highly recommend you support this local business that in turn supports our community.

Two thumbs up for me… Comfy environment, good food/sandwiches and absolutely love the chocolate chip frappes. For those who say it’s pricey, what would a couple dollars or cents be, if knowing that, that little extra is helping women get rehabilitated or a bed for a man to sleep on for the night or a bag of food on Saturdays for a family in need… that’s just the beginning of what this café is about!

This is a great breakfast or lunch place! Also, their coffee and specialty drinks are awesome. Great food as well. You can grab something original such as a BLT or chicken sandwich or something with a little more Latin flavor. Great atmosphere as well! Everyone is very friendly and the service is great!

This is a café I come to again and again. Most of the time, it’s not overcrowded compared to other cafes so it’s the perfect place to come and have a conversation with a friend or get some work done away from the office. The free WIFI is a plus and it works great with my usual Café Con Leche(latte). I’ve been there many times and they’ve been good at remembering my order. The food is good too but I particularly enjoy the pasties. Definitely worth coming to. By the way, I find it pretty awesome that the business actually gives back to the community in a huge way.(That’s a bonus)

Bought a Groupon($ 3 for $ 6) and was able to purchase a Basil Chicken Sandwich and a pop(Good-o Kola — which happens to be SUPER sweet). Apart from that I bought two small cupcakes(Chocolate chip and blueberry) which were pretty good, a little over prices but well worth it($ 1 each, one-third-of-a-fist sized cupcakes). All in all they won me over, might be here for lunch every day.

Huh? Religion with my coffee??? This café is an extension of a mission church group I think. This place is hard to understand. There are limited tables here: 4. The food doesn’t look that great — typical sandwiches. But… I paid 5 dollars for a three shot medium sized americano! Can you believe it? I pay less at starbucks! I was very turned off by that price.(In contrast, at starbucks the vente americano with four shots is 3!) There isn’t much atmosphere… maybe it has just opened. I’m happy about the convenience of proximity of this place… just a few blocks away, but I won’t come here often on account of the prices.

Neighborhood gem i’d say… This place is about a stones throw(ok, maybe pick-up and throw again) form my house, and it’s fabulous. For those days when your all hung over(except sunday…) and you don’t feel like making coffee of all the crashers so you send them somewhere, or when your working from home and you don’t feel like making lunch. Bottom line, it’s cheap and everything made fresh! The ladies that work there are al very sweet, and you can chilli in a nice recliner if you like while you dine. I recommend the esther(comes with chips) 4.50 and a snapple
