This center employs Jamie Jackson, MSPT, who is a great physical therapist. Jamie worked hard to rehabilitate my fractured and surgically repaired shoulder and has an unflappably calm and optimistic temperament, which is a huge plus when enduring something as physically excruciating as PT. She has good hands in physically manipulating a patient. She constantly worked to adjust my physical therapy regimen to keep me progressing as my shoulder regained function. A major plus of this facility is that Jamie is the only therapist working here. As a result, you will not have some rotating cast of therapists but the continuity of care only possible by being seen every time by the same well-trained, experienced professional. I hear at other facilities that this is not the case. Sometimes the facility gets too busy. I can understand an experienced therapist juggling two to three patients, especially when some of them are lying or sitting around with a hot or cold pack, but there were even times when there were four or possibly more patients in the facility at the same time. A few times, I was sort of left standing around for five or more minutes not sure which exercise to do next because Jamie was busy with someone else. Once, I was doing exercises while Jamie was doing the one-on-one initial history and measurements for a new patient, which really ought to happen with no other patients present. For the hundreds of dollars per visit that NovaCare billed my insurance, this is not a great thing. My other quibble is that I’d have appreciated a little more structure when it came to a home exercise plan. I’d irregularly get a new handout with a grid of exercises to do, but eventually that list of exercises got long, and I was left guessing about pain and time management. The home exercise advising seemed a bit of an afterthought. My initial impression with the front office here was a little uneven, but Jamie and Pat took care to deal with my intransigent insurer, which despite writing a blank check for zillions of dollars of imaging and surgery, turned out to be quite chintzy when it came to the subsequent rehab. Unfortunately this halted my therapy a couple weeks early, but I appreciate that they took care not to run up large out-of-pocket bills without my knowledge. Though it is still a work in progress, my right arm functions again, thanks to Jamie. I’d come back here if, God forbid, I needed PT again.
