Love the staff personnel. Very personable and nice greeting. «Welcome to Peet’s». I liked that. Tree was great and gave me a good berry herbal tea recommendation. It’s what she always drinks she said. I also had the blueberry lemon muffin which was very good warmed up just slightly. Glad I ordered it. Peet’s has a nice coffee house feel. Nice place for chilling, reading and studying.

Flies on the pastries!!! I love Peets coffee, however, as I waited for my coffee today And decided to take a look at their food/pastry options. I noticed several small flies ON the cookies and pastries. I quietly approached the counter to pickup my coffee and informed the employee of my observation. I was told that they were aware of the problem and doing everything to rectify it. HOWABOUTCOVERINGEVERYTHINGWITHPLASTICWRAP!!! I was appalled and told all of my coworkers and neighbors. I work for UIC and live only a few blocks away. I will be notifying their cooperate office and the board of health. This is unacceptable!

Staff are great here and the coffee is the best. Absolutely love this little coffee shop. It’s quiet and has plenty of room to study, work catch up etc. The pastries here are so delicious and the best part, the offer Almond milk as well as the regular milk options for your coffee.

Wonderful coffee and staff at this this Peet’s! I’ve experience nothing short of friendly service. This past weekend, two ladies were asking a lot of questions, holding up the line, but the cashier was still very patient, which I thought was sweet. In these situations, I just wish someone jump on the other register. My other complaint is the small space and limited seating.

The people here are complete sweethearts. I love them all. I used to come every Tuesday and Thursday morning during my shift Spring semester, and they have the best Caramel Macchiato I’ve ever tasted. That was the first drink that Steve recommended, and I haven’t gone back since. I haven’t been able to visit as much since I left my job, but I got a lot of my coworkers hooked on their stuff. Definitely going to go back when I get a chance!

I absolutely love the atmosphere of Peet’s. The staff is great and it is a place I feel comfortable studying at which snacking on pastries and ordering multiple drinks. Big issue is their internet is SLOOOOW. My roommate and I went one night to finalize our vacation plan and I kid you not, it took 30 minutes to load google. We tried multiple computers. I would go back just to hang out or pick up.

Perhaps I’m being unfair to Peet’s, comparing it to the Caribou Coffee that used to be the neighborhood grind here. Let me explain: I love Peet’s coffee. I have since I lived for a time in San Francisco way back when Starbucks hadn’t even started their war games to prepare for world domination. Back when you couldn’t see two Starbucks from one vantage point. And little known fact: one of the founders of Starbucks learned everything he needed to know from Peet himself in Berkeley, prior to opening their first shop in Seattle. Starbucks even bought their beans for a time. But fast forward to this past Friday: I needed a cozy place to chat with a friend whom I hadn’t seen in a couple years. We went in, and we saw that this newbie is a sleek, nice-looking store. Nice-looking patio out front(though it was a little too chilly a May day to try it freeze our bums). But I much preferred the coziness of the Caribou that has left us. And speaking of bums, mine was disappointed when I walked in, as it had been hoping to live on Easy Street(in its case, sink into Easy Chair). Caribou had nice club chairs and a fireplace(I won’t miss that until winter), in addition to tables and chairs. I’ll probably stop here to get some work done once in a while, but I’ll probably go elsewhere if I want to have an intimate chat with a friend.

I come here for my afternoon pick me up and I love everything about this café. Mostly everyone is amazing and very personable! They pay attention to detail in their drinks and in their conversations. I am very impressed with the staff and the beverages and my mom’s now addicted to their dark chocolate bars. The only minor problem I’ve noticed is that maybe one or two staff members(which I’m guessing are new) are a little rude and untidy from their outfits to their drinks. I want to give the shop 5 stars because I just love the staff that’s usually working when I come in.

Excellent service! You get a good morning from the second you walk in the door. SUPER fast service which is great because sometimes a minute is all I have before I catch my bus. I drink my coffee black and it’s always great tasting and fresh.

I really want to go to Peet’s to get some work done today. Drinks are good and there’s a good amount of space — but I won’t go because it’s FREEZING there! I usually end up keeping my coat on and wanting to wear my gloves, which is weird, so I don’t. Pretty sure the thermostat is set on 58. Manager, please turn up the heat so I can work ! Until then, I’ll be at Starbucks.

A great addition to the neighborhood. Deals from newsletter sign-up, Unilocal,12 Days of Brewing(and Saving) etc. BREAKFASTMUFFIN($ 2.50) — hearty. Healthy. Shareable. Coconut. Raisins. Filling. Great price. TASTINGANDEVENTS — SATURDAYS from 11:00am to 12:00pm and receive 15% off during the scheduled tasting. Long time ago, when Peet’s first opened, there were FREE classes for a Perfect Brew using different techniques. Intense class. Some attend to meet other coffeeholics. You go home with a nicely printed pamphlet about the class. Discount on coffee. Inquire for availability. SERVICE — pleasant, friendly and informative. VENUE — clean and orderly.

Very nice coffee shop so close to UIC. Prices are pretty decent, compareable to Starbucks. Baristas are great, they also gave good suggestions and samples of what they recommended. Nice hot coffee and sinfully good pastries. Clean and new! Definitely a good place to chill out, hang with friends, or study. That’s all I got, definitely give this place a shot!

I can’t even begin to express how happy I am that this opened up in my neighborhood — so SO happy times 100 since I can walk here(on a good day). I first tried Peers in SF and loved it — the stuff is pretty strong. I would always make sure I get a cup of Java when in the north ave area, but NOW that it’s here, they will be having my monies for sure. The pumpkin is delish and they have zucchini bread… that alone makes them better than competition. Just please please add green tea lattes to the menu and you will be damn near perfect in my eyes!

So glad Caribou moved out and Peets is right here within a short walk from our home. Even though I am in full support of mom n pop coffee shops, this Peets opens at 6am. Perfect for early 5am risers! And it has really good, strong coffee. Might I add delicious scones. Free wifi as well! Great addition to UIC/Pilsen!

I like that their Chai Latte is less sweeter than Starbucks. I like that they offer Almond milk, HOWAWESOME! Their prices are like all coffee shops overprice, but average because overpriced is average for coffee shops. Something you should know before you order any of their pastries is that they dont have a microwave or oven to warm them up for you, yet they«baked they pastries fresh everyday» In other words depending on the weather you will be getting freezing cold pastries because they dont have warming appliances. But thats something that may not bother you. They dont put the lid on your cup, I dont know if its sanitary reasons they believe or just because they want to be different, Starbucks does, so does Caribou. But Id like to have my lid on the cup ready to go when i first grab my coffee. I surely dont want to have any spills walking over to the crowded bar across the room for a lid. I dont like how cold the store is becoming now that its getting cold. Once I planned to sit in, but it was way too freezing to function, It was warmer outside, in about 50 degree weather. Maybe due to it being founded in Cali which is warmer than Chicago their average temperature is set very low. I dont like that you can hear every little word the workers behind the counter say, I dont want to hear your conversation, especially when Im trying to get my work done. And I know I can’t avoid this one because everyone is doing it, but the Christmas music, one day after Halloween, why! I find it hard to not compare to Starbucks just because they truly set standards for coffee shops due to there being hundreds of establishments all over Chicago and the US for years already. And yes, Peet’s may have been founded before Starbucks, but they have a lot more marketing to do! Overall Peet’s has the ability to grow on me no doubt. I would defiantly come back on occasions.

Wow, this place is awesome. I love the new décor. They opted for a cleaner set-up with a corner barista station where they will free-pour your lattes. The bulk coffee is displayed in multiple deli trays for you to scoop, weigh and take home. The sandwiches are delicious as well — locally sourced, thus super-fresh. Although Peet’s is all over the West Coast, I’d like to think we adopted this Halsted one as our own, complete with Chicago murals and even some of the old staff from Caribou. Well done guys.
