This place is very mediocre. The food is not bad, the ambience is kind of empty and service is not that great. I had the Camarones a La Plancha(Grilled Shrimp). The plate itself was not that bad, but I only had 4 shrimp. I guess the abundance of rice and beans made up for the amount of shrimp I had. My friend ordered the Green Enchiladas which were good to her. I would just go to the margaritas.

SO/SO…80 percent of the menu is seafood… mexican seafood… still not sure how I feel about that… I come here a lot for the chips and salsa… decently spicy… and usually get take out. The best part of this place is the fatty margaritas that have little mermaids swimming in them. After two… and a few Sanchez songs on the jukebox… you will be f*ed up. NOT a place to bring a date, the atmosphere is kinda blah. **EDIT This place closed down. Guess the mexican seafood wasn’t doing it for everyone. O’well. Hope something else cool opens up here.

i was excited to try this place as it’s right around the corner and from what i could see in the window, it looks very cute. So we went and out of maybe 8 – 10 small and large tables on a Friday night, we were the only ones speaking english.(that’s a very good sign in my book). The menu is almost all seafood. I am a big fan of red snapper veracruz and there were three red snapper dishes on the menu. I asked the server which one she recommended and she said the deep fried one. Not being a fan of anything deep fried, i went with the snapper veracruz ala a mexicana which turned out to be a whole fish(tail, bones, head, eyes, the whole shebang). I have received snapper both ways, so that was my bad for not asking, but i wasn’t really in the mood to do all the work of picking it apart. the fish was not that flavorful and the topping tasted like something you’d get out of a can of diced tomatoes and chilies. My fiancé, who is not a seafood person at all, got the chicken fajitas and did NOT like them at all. unlike most places where they come sizzling and with veggies, rice and beans to make the fajitas, here they were just a plate of grilled chicken with some sad-looking iceberg, tomatoes, and corn tortillas. hmmm. service was not good — seriously only one waitress for the whole place. waited a long time for our orders to be taken and for the check. the dinner was not very cheap(2 entrees, 3 beers = $ 46 not incl. tip). too much for the casual atmosphere and for what we got in return.

I’m struggling to say anything good about this one, but it wasn’t even as cheap as it should of been for the bad food. We got a «you should try it» from a friend, and she specifically said try the seafood. Don’t do it. Both of our dishes we over cooked, and mine was salted to the point of inedible. If you’re in the neighborhood, try instead Caliente on Sheridan, just south of the Sheridan stop.

Heavy on the mariscos, the menu here probably would satisfy the seafood lover inside of you. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find mine tonight, so I got the cheese enchiladas, which were just alright. The chips and salsa were good, but the standout appetizer was some sort of chopped fish salad. ET was on the TV in Spanish, with a few kids watching. And our server brought us TONS of candy with our bill! A very happy ending to an average meal.

Major plus for the copious amount of candy given at the end of our meal. I really enjoyed my chicken tacos with grilled corn tortillas. They were only $ 2 a piece, so I expected them to be unsubstantial, but they were not and so ordering three was one too many, in addition to eating a lot of their chips and salsa and fish salad, which were excellent(and complimentary). If I’m ever in the neighborhood, I would trust going here again, but I wouldn’t make the trip down for it.
