I am a loyal customer to them when it comes to Italian beef but had to give 3 stars because i bought. The beef. Rolls an it was molded i was very upset i never had this problem with them before they offerd to give me more bread but the beef was gone an i didnt wanna take another chance on molded bread.

The standard for beef at family parties growing up. Now whenever I go to my dentist across the street I just have to stop in and get beef to take home. The last time I stopped both my mom and mother in law were disappointed I didn’t bring them back a bucket of beef.

I read the reviews and came in for the prime rib. I even bought a slow cooker just to make sure I cooked it right. The meat was very tender and good. I would buy this for another gathering since everyone enjoyed it.

So happy they serve hot sandwhiches now, healthy portions, great quality, and great price. While Johnnies down the street has lines out the door, drive a little further and you’ll find this gem… Best beef around, it poops on Portillos and Johnnies.

I went in on Monday, and Larry was just as sweet as pie. He gave me great customer service and deli sandwiches. I frequent this place often for fresh deli sandwiches and they never disappoint. They are a deli, but you go over to the counter where there have a takeaway counter for subs, burgers and more. I usually grab some of their homemade gelato in the freezer, if I’m in the mood. Good food and great staff.

I am an Italian Beef SINNER! …It’s really bad! I am in Lake Geneva area now and… well…the beef here is not, up to snuff… sorry folks. Mr. Kibler brought me a tub of Serrelli’s beef a few years back – and I am NOW — a JUNKIE! Thanks pal…
I was in Friday – and I JUST LOVE this place… I walk with a cane and everyone was just THE BEST! The breads. Beef…Tomato’s…HOT PEPPERS (their brand) are just THE BEST!!! I highly suggest Serrelli’s but I must warn you… ITS ADDICTIVE!!!

cute small shop & the workers are very nice. I got stuff to make pizza but they didn’t have any toppings. pretty good selection of pasta and sodas though.
Based off the reviews I had to try the Italian beef. and it was so damn dry. If I didn’t get it dipped I would have choked. Disappointment, I’m better off going to Portillos or that famous beef place that always has a line.
but even now I’m trying to eat to meat that fell off my beef and it’s just crazy dry…

This review is based entirely on Serrelli’s Italian Beef sandwich. Normally I’d say that it would be unfair to rate a whole establishment based on one sandwich alone, but Sarrelli’s makes the bold claim that it is «Home of the Original Italian Beef» on it’s sign, so I’d say that makes it fair game.
Anyway, the Italian Beef sandwich they serve is truly exceptional. The home-​roasted beef tastes delicious on it’s own without hiding behind a bunch of seasonings. The bread roll it is served on is a level above the standard Turano roll. Also, the homemade giardenera was really tasty. The sandwich is a little on the pricey side when compared to other beef sandwiches, but worth it. I just wish they had a little dining area inside so you could enjoy the sandwich immediately after it’s served.

Finally stopped by this place to see what they had — last time I was here was years ago before they remodeled, so I was looking forward to checking it out and trying an Italian Beef that seem to be popular with a lot of Unilocalers.
The people there were great and eager to help. One thing that was disappointing though was that I felt there weren’t enough «homemade» offerings. Many of these small Italian groceries /​delis have a plethora of food made at the store for sale; Serrelli’s had relatively few items like this. It’s those kinds of things that make me want to go back to places like Freddy’s, Rex, Capri, Tony’s and Bari; I would hope this place would follow in their footsteps at some point.
Now, I did order a combo and that is one of the things that they brag about. Nicely valued and a decent sized sandwich. I personally prefer a little more seasoning (oregano) on my beefs, but this still had great flavor. Peppers included in the $ 6.98 price which was nice — the sweet peppers were really good. Add an order of French fries at $ 1.29 that was also a good sized portion — I was concerned about getting a single portion in the middle of the afternoon when no one else was around, but they came out great.
They do have a limited meat offering and the rib eyes looked great — almost bought a couple even though I wasn’t looking for such an item. Overall, I’ll be back at some point to try and check out some of their other items — or maybe another beef or sausage!

I didn’t grow up in Chicago and therefore was not aware of «the Italian beef» sandwich. Over the years I tried all of the competition and never liked the bread, the beef or the giardinara … until I had Serrelli’s. I fell in love immediately and have been wildly impressed with all of their offerings beyond their beefs and gravy. Without hesitation I would hands down recommend Serrelli’s to anyone looking to cater a party, stock their freezer or grab a quick sandwich. It’s simply the best.

You will not find a better italian shop in the United States. Hands down Serrelli’s is the best

Went to purchase some Italian beef based on word of mouth reviews. Beef was great and staff was helpful, a tad bit pricey for those on a budget though. Overall great experience.

This food mart is a good choice if you wish to cater a party with Italian beef. The deli has some nice options and there’s a good selection of take out items in the back of the store. Had the Italian beef sandwich dipped, with hot peppers. Good sandwich that’s worth the money, look forward to trying their other options.

The best Italian beef in Chicago. Just heat and eat.

FAMILY PARTY SECRETS
Hey you! Yeah I’m talking to you! You wanna know a secret! This place has the most amazing sliced Italian beef ever. Now the secret is out.
My parents always hosted parties for there friends, family and employees. It was fun but it was a lot of work. When I was little I would get dragged all over the city to pick up supplies with my parents. I call this Sicilian style shopping, which meant you would drive all across town just to get the best items or ingredients. My parents were never one stop shoppers. As I got older, those lists were handed to me. Sometimes it would take me the whole day just to get everything.
My parents made most of there food items but when it came to sliced Italian beef this was the place they went to. The largest container available was the 10 lbs of Italian Beef with juice. My parents never wanted to run out of food, so they always went for more then they needed. They would typically buy 20 to 30 lbs of beef for a family house party and 80 to 100 lbs for a company party. Now I must make a confession, I would sneak a few slices of cold beef while in the car. Hey, I was 16 years old and sitting next to 100 lbs of the most amazing Italian beef. Who was gonna miss two slices? I must admit it was hard to stop at two. It is one of the most tastiest beefs you will find. They have a great recipe with an amazing mix of spices and seasoning.
So next time you want to throw a party and you wanna go Chicago style beef then this is the place. Your guests will think you are trying to be the next great beef place in the city. I am getting hungry just writing this review. I need to get in the car, pick up a container of beef, sample a slice for quality control & then throw a party. What holiday is coming up that we can celebrate? Is there a national beef sandwich day?

You want the best Italian Beef in Chicagoland??? It’s right here! Every big occasion at our house growing up in Chicago always had Serrelli beef simmering on the stove, and some excellent fresh Italian bread. They do have plenty of other great things to try as its a deli/​butcher shop. But, you gotta try the beef. Pick some up, bring it home, have some tonight!

This is such a neat Italian deli with some Mexican flare. Everyone was was super friendly to us. We loved exploring the isles while we waited for our fresh sandwiches to be made. I was impressed by the thickly sliced bacon and other meats in the glass refrigerator counter. I got an eggplant parmesan sandwich with a side of cheese fries and my friend got an Italian sub. Both were delicious!

Ever since Serrelli’s remodeled, the customer service has just not been the same.
It is my opinion that deli meats and cheeses should not be cut on the same slicer… I do not like it when my cheese is cross-​contaminated with meat juices and meat grease.
When I requested that my cheese not be cut on the same deli slicer as the meats, the clerk told me flat out — NO –. and refused to slice my cheese on the other slicer.
I explained how I did not want bits of meat and the meat greases being spread all over my cheese and the clerk still refused.
I love their beefs, but this experience has made me want to find a new beef spot.

I have never bought anything that I didn’t like from here! I will be going to Sorrelli’s on Thursday. I can’t wait! Frendly staff. Always smiling small store but, Really good. worth the trip from whereever You are driving from. Cash or check. No C Cards.
I was introduced to Sorrelli’s over 30 Years ago. My Wife’s aunt brought some over. Yum! The only minus I can think of is You tend to eat too much!

Oh, Serrelli’s… I love you. Their Italian beef was a staple at every family party growing up! IMO, it’s even better than Portillos. Yeah, I said it!
I think I need to take a trip to the west side to pick up some Italian beef now…
