I love this authentic Mexican restaurant! The food is just great as well as the service. I love how they make their tortillas handmade in front of you. I would recommend coming here if you’r craving Mexican food.

I only got food to take out because my girlfriend and I were craving Mexican food. We just looked up this place and we got very lucky! I chose a burrito al pastor and it was just great! It was very rich and the favors were perfectly balanced. My girlfriend got two tacos and she was able to make almost five tacos out of them because the amount of meet was great! Don’t forget to order an horchata:)

So delicious. The carne asada tacos were perfect. Just order them with onions and cilantro, add a squeeze of lime and that’s all you need. The nachos with chicken were pretty good as well, although I stuffed myself with tacos, I only had a few bites of the nachos.

This place is great! Food is delicious, tortillas a mano every weekend and phone orders are always on point(phone order are always ready in 15 mins) I came across this place because I noticed CPD was always eating here, so you know the food is good whenever you see police continually frequent a restaurant. Anyhow, one of the better Mexican food spots in Albany Park /North Park.

I was excited to eat here, because I see this place everyday on my way home from work and the Unilocal reviews were pretty good so I figured why not?! So I ordered a burrito for my bf and torta for me… I had the huge one with asada, al pastor and chorizo, it was too big do not attempt to eat on ur own unless you have a bottomless pit for a stomach. Anyway, I tasted my bf’s burrito and it was mediocre and the torta was not great… a little to porky tasting :(I was sad because I wanted to like it. The chorizo was super greasy and made me cringe, oh I forgot! we tried the tacos al pastor and they too disappointed :((((maybe it’s just not for me, I’ll stick to the places by my house… this is what I get for venturing out of the hood –_–

I consider myself a taqueria connoisseur having visited establishments all across the United States. This place has easily entered my top three best establishments with only one visit. Before I even sat down I was greeted with an array for premium salsas. –A pico de gallo that was not only extremely fresh but had kick. –A roasted tomato with a bold flavor without all the heat –A cool green cream that tasted like some sort of avacado lime mixture that was delicious and refreshing I ordered a taco dinner, one al pastor and two steak. The food was in front of my face within five minutes. The steak was tremendous and well seasoned but the real star is the al pastor. You can see these guys creating the spit in the back so you know this is the real deal. Tender, juicy, and flavorful. One of the best in the city. The rice was also great with little pieces of peppers sauteed in. This is now my go to taco spot. A must try for taco aficionados.

Hola! I saw this restaurant featured on Chicago’s Best show last week and decided to take a ride from the far south side to the far north side to check it out. Luckily, it was Sunday, so I had no trouble parking on the street(for free, yay!!!), but for what it cost in gas I could have gotten a great meal from any number of South side Mexican restaurants. That being said, it was average. I had guacomole to start. It was pretty much just mashed avocado. No onion, lime, garlic… kinda bland except for the salt I put on. Chicago’s Best featured a «Super Torta» called a Cubano. It sounded interesting, but I didn’t want hot dogs on my torta. I settled on a Michoacana, which is Carne asada, ham, chorizo, beans, lettuce, tomato and sour cream on a toasted super size torta bun. Large size for sure. The asada was chopped into tiny pieces, as the chorizo is, and the tomatoes too. That caused alot to fall out as I picked it up. The chorizo was borderline burnt, but had flavor. The couple of pieces of ham were very thin and looked more like bologna. couldn’t even taste it. The beans I noticed only on one side of the bun. I guess overall it was just«ok». Larger slices of Carne asada would make it easier to eat, but I wouldn’t make the drive that far to go here again. The staff was buzzing around, very helpful and friendly. Parking on a regular day on Kedzie would probably be a challenge, I even drove around the block to check it out. Restaurant was clean, bathroom too. Décor was typical. Drove back via Lake Shore Drive, on a beautiful day.

I love B.Y.O.B… I wish they had this in Los Angeles. Being in town for a wedding, we were super starved one night and went out on a rainy summer night adventure to find TACOS. Walked by this place and saw the BYOB sign… smelled the food and it was packed! Ran to the nearest liquor store(yes we ran!) and got back in time for the last opening hour. Good taco plates… I was super stuffed. Super Happy. And Super Buzzed.

I have eaten about 300 times already. No joke. Since the place opened, it has been great tasting and always great service. Their steak meat is the best. Most of the Mexican restaurants that i visited have a mushy pot roast tasting steak meat. They have the best tortas and burritos.

That green sauce! Goes well on the pastor tacos, and very well on the steak tacos. Their carne asada was very good also. The enchiladas verde, it was good, but I prefer the order that I had at Garcia’s in the Square.

I’ve tried several taquerias in the Albany Park area and this one is definitely the best. Food is always fresh, large portions, salsa is nice & spicy, and there lot of variety on the menu. The waitstaff is very friendly and they are super attentive. At any time of the day there are always customers and service is great, but when it’s completely full the waitstaff seems to get a little overwhelmed and service is a little slower. Which is understandable. I recommend: 3 taco dinner — steak tacos(with cilantro/onion only) or al pastor.

There are certain cuisines in Chicago that you just have to go to the South Side for if you want the best: Soul food, Caribbean food, Chinese food, barbecue, and of course, Mexican. Of course, the rest of the city has some good contenders for each of these. But you’ll have to take your standards down a notch. There’s no North Side equivalent of Ruby’s or Nuevo Leon or Birreria Zargoza, Amelia’s, or even El Milagro. Which is why, dear Unilocaler, you need to be aware of a new category: North Side Mexican. As far as North Side Mexican is concerned, Taqueria San Juanito is very, very solid. I’ve been coming here regularly for months — the meat is juicy, the ingredients are fresh, and the salsas hit the spot. Everyone here is crazy friendly and helpful and very welcoming. There was one night, out of nowhere back in May, when everything was a complete disaster — the tortillas were mealy and microwaved and all the meat was burned. But it was just one night — maybe they fired the chef. The next time I ordered it was right back to normal. Oh, also — do not order delivery from San Juanito. There are like ten reasons it’s a bad idea, and I’m not sure if it’s San Juanito’s fault or the delivery service’s fault.

An okay restaurant. On a Friday night, you’d expect more than one waitress serving. While still good, my torta had some nasty mayo. Their horchatas taste like they were made from premade packets. Their guacamole was tasty and fresh. Good prices though! Come here with time and don’t order the horchata and you’re good to go!

This is one of the best places for authentic tacos in the neighborhood! Their green salsa is very good and unlike other so called Mexican restaurants, their salsas are not watered down to accommodate those that can’t handle spice. Sometimes service may be slow but that is only because the place gets packed but the waitresses always try to accommodate you and are quick and efficient. I have been here a few time with my family and have always had a pleasant experience… both in food quality and service.

Revisited at night with a group, it was fairly late without much of a crowd. The carne asada and lengua tacos were good, al pastor was dried out again, and seemed to be simply reheated. Salsas were pretty good. Definitely a good value. Overall, it was a pretty typical taqueria experience. I’ll continue the quest for amazing tacos in the neighborhood.

On my ever lasting hunt for good Tacos I ended up at this place. I’ve been on Unilocal for about a year but have been actively Unilocaling for about 7 months. The main reason I stopped here was because of the good Unilocal reviews but oh my lord was I deceived. It was about 1 pm on a Friday and this place was pretty much dead. The server saw me walk in but just looked at me. There were no directions to either seat myself or wait to be seated; so I seated myself. My server came within a few minutes and took my order. 3 steak tacos with lettuce, tomato, cilantro and cheese and also a large horchata. My horchata came first and I was ready to gulp that sucker down but it was spicy. WHYWASITSPICY??? I asked many of my friends and they told me that Horchata is not spicy! My tacos were disgusting. Not seasoned and just sort of thrown together. i see all these great Unilocal review but i do not know where and how! I was very disappointed and i will not return. If the service was more active and up to standard then maybe this review would have been a bit different but service was as terrible as their food. No Thank You

Fantastic and especially for the price. The steak burrito dinner is so good and such a deal for 8 bucks. The very large burrito, beans, and rice make the main dish. Prior to that are plenty of chips and salsa. Bring cash if you plan to spend 10 bucks and under for a meal. Anything over is okay for credit cards. In short, for Mexican food, this place rocks. Check it out.

That place is busy on a Sunday night! Hubby’s cousin just got off the bus and appeared to be hungry, so we went there based on the stellar Unilocal reviews they’ve received. The service was friendly. I ordered caldo de cameron like my usual route at a Mexican joint. It was portioned adequately, which I like it because I hate to experience Mexican food coma but food is always tasty. Not to mention that the shrimps are gigantic! The hubby said the pastor gordita was good even though he still favors the gorditas at a different Mexican neighborhood restaurant. The starter salsa and chips were on point. They did forget our orders of horchata and Jamaica but we were able to grabbed one of the servers and there was enough remedy for this minor glitch. In the end, they didn’t charge us the drinks we ordered and continue to apologize for the mistake. Honestly, it didn’t bother us at all because the entire experience was enjoyable. The restroom offered a baby-changing station. It was very thoughtful of them to provide this for the convenience of moms with infants. P. S. The definition of Mexican food coma: due to the generosity of my fellow Mexican friends and families, overly large portions of food can cause a temporary incapacity to do anything because a petite, 95 lb Asian girl can’t handle it all at once.

Al pastor tacos were good, a bit greasy but overall tasty. It’s $ 7.99 for 3 tacos and a side of beans and rice with some salsas. The service was good and prompt. Will come back here, met my expectations.
