This place has some of the best Ice cream known to wo(men) and kids! There is a variety of toppings to choose from so you may feel a bit overwhelmed but the price is great and sooner or later you can try everything. I have not tried their food but I am sure it is delicious.

This is NOT closed. The owner is on vacation and will reopen for the weekends during the winter.

Very decent ice cream and you can get it done many different ways — in a cone, in a dish, in a shake, in a malt, float it up — whatever your heart desires! They also have some random food items — quite a big variety — but my focus is on the ice cream good stuff when I’m at Tastee Freez. They have a ton of flavors! I thought they only had three but there is a dry erase board that lists every one of their tasty creations. Their prices are cheap and those shakes are delish! They have a small parking lot with a few spots and a few picnic tables outside to pop a squat & chow down at.

This is a great neighborhood spot. Outdoor seating and parking is available! They sell burgers and corn dogs and all of that but what really makes this place great is their ice cream. There are so many topping options and combinations that it’s hard to choose! Lol But don’t get their icies! My sister tried the pins colada icy and it was watered down

This place is ahmazing! The only problem is there are wayyyy too many great choices. I’m in my milkshake period so mostly I can only speak for the shakes not the hot food. The Smores milkshake is so great the graham cracker crumbles omg. We’ll be back!

Tastee Freez is everything that a place like this should be – retro, picnic tables, great prices, delicious soft serve and greasy(but tasty) burgers. I live literally around the corner from this place, but I cannot decide if that is a good or bad thing, based on the fact that I am trying to eat healthier and lose weight. But man, the Freezees, dipped cones and double bacon cheeseburgers … every once in a while can’t be THAT bad for me, right? … Right? … Hello? … Anyone with me?

I love Tastee Freez. So many cheap(two people can eat for less than $ 10,) greasy options, and huge servings. Too many freezee/shake/malt/sundae/etc. options to count. If you’re craving it, Tastee Freez has it.(The S’Mores freezee rules.) There’s a couple of chairs inside, as well as a handful of picnic tables for outdoor seating. Seriously, I want to come here every day of my life.

Classic soft serve. I like twist with sprinkles, usually medium sized but sometimes I splurge.

they have over 70 flavor a of shakes and their prices are reasonable. They also have a full menu of fast food items. You can sit inside or on their patio like atmosphere,

Based on taste, this place would be 3 stars. But the prices are just amazing. You can get a burger and fries for literally the change you have in your cupholders or stuck in your couch. They are very generous with the fries, too, which are cooked to order. There aren’t many places that you can get corndogs, especially for $ 0.99. And I LOVE pizza puffs. The killer is that the softserve tastes like frozen paraffin. There’s just no flavor to the soft serve itself. Of course they have 45 million flavor options, so that helps, but sometimes I just want a plain dish of soft serve and this is not a good place to go for that.

My normal eating habits: tomato, cucumber, and mint salad; tabouleh; chickpea and avocado salad; grilled vegetables. My sister’s eating habits: burgers; mac and cheese; Trader Joe’s frozen meals; grilled cheese. While getting ready to go to a concert, my sister decides she’s hungry all of a sudden. I offered to make her a cucumber salad, but all that emitted from her face was the worst cringe I’ve ever seen — she was obviously not interested. I told her I had other vegetables or eggs, but still, not interested. Thankfully, my roommate suggested we go to Tastee Freez, only a two minute walk from our apartment. Thank goodness. If my sister didn’t have her nourishment, I’m sure she would have complained the entire night about the cucumber salad I would have fed her. Let me just say, TASTEEFREEZISAWESOME. I love this place. Ever since I went for the first time two weeks ago, I’m hooked. I know there have been some comparisons to Dairy Queen, but Tastee Freez is by far superior. The shakes are my favorite — they probably have about 75 different flavors, everything from pomegranate, to coconut, to chocolate. They have freezees, which is their soft serve mixed with oreos, or butterfingers, or M&Ms. Soft serve in a cone, in a cup, in a cone dipped in chocolate, however you want! However, what really saved my sister are the glorious 99 cent corn dogs. Yes, that’s right 99 cents! They also have burgers, and cheesy fries — I only know about the cheesy fries because a young girl who ordered right before me was singing about them as she waited — it was so entertaining. Everything I’ve had has been delicious — it’s the perfect place to have at the corner. And I must mention, the people who work here are so nice! Always welcoming, super speedy, and have a smile on their face. Can’t wait to go back and sing about the cheesy fries!

My husband and I stopped here one afternoon this summer, on our way home from Parson’s. We wanted a cherry dipped cone, like they have at dairy queen, but cherry wasn’t an option. Instead my husband opted for a caramel dipped cone. The price was cheap but the color of the dip was like this nasty greenish brown color. The ice cream was not that creamy and tasted watered down. Maybe we were there on an off day but definitely not as good as dairy queen. We threw it out after one bite.

In search of retro nostalgia that evokes images of sock hops, Greasers vs Soc’s, staying out past curfew on a schoolnight 50’s style then Tastee Freez is your place. In search of a tasty burger and fries for a hungry appetite, Tastee Freez is not the place. Flavorless patty, smooshy bun, it’s just meh. In search of ice cream treats like dipped cones, shakes, sundaes for your sweet tooth, Tastee Freez is the place. There are tons of different flavors shakes/concretes/malts to choose from – that’s a plus. But I found the shakes too sweet for my sweet tooth. In search of fun smiley friendly service? Tastee Freez is not the place. Surly, borderline rude, yeah, not fun. But free parking in their private lot and hopscotch taped out for the little ones. We like that.

In Cincinnati they call places like this a whippy dip. We don’t have many of these stand alone ice cream shops in the Chicagoland area. I guess in Chicago we have more big chain ice cream providers. But, there is something about the homey feel that these whippy dip places provide. Very quaint and warm. Drive up and park or walk over to grab a cone and sit outside the little shop while trying to prevent the ice cream from dripping onto your hand. Tastee Freez doesn’t only offer ice cream and shakes but they also have a selection of burger combo meals and other fast food options. Located right off of Armitage just west of California, I am kicking myself for not coming here more often when I lived in the area. Like I said there is nothing like a good old fashion cone of ice cream on a hot summer evening.
