When you walk in, you’ll think you’re at a convenient store(a very disorganized one). Then, you’ll notice a bunch of tables with some ugly chairs. Look past all that, you will see the restaurant portion. When you give your order, you’ll notice the owner or the cook take the money from your hand, put it in the register, and then walk over and start cooking your food without washing his hands or wearing gloves… yikes. They used be good back in 2012 when they opened up. Since then, there have been multiple owner changes and I guess the old owner took his recipes with him. After he left, the food went downhill. I’ve got a stomach ache after I came here once. I thought it was a one time thing so I came back again and it was the same experience. I’m thinking it’s from how oily my food was, I didn’t get food poisoning or anything. Ever since Ghareeb Nawaz opened up in University Village, I stopped coming here. TFM sells Lamb Biryani for $ 13.99, Ghareeb sells it for $ 5 TFM seels Chilli Chicken for $ 10, Ghareeb sells it for $ 5 TFM sells raita/dehi for $ 1, Ghareeb gives it for free A milk gallon here is $ 4.99???

This place is very odd. Went there last night for the first time. First if all it was 80 degrees outside and in Chicago that’s pretty hot, you would expect them to have some sort of air conditioning on, but it was like 90 degrees inside and felt disgusting. Anyways, the place is a weird kind of convenient store and a fast food place. It all just looked dirty to me and I just didn’t feel safe or comfortable eating there or their food. We got some food because it was the only place open at 12AM, the food is the definition of would call«drunk food». It was ok and would do good for the rest of the night, but you’ll probably regret it in the morning.

I went here a few days ago when I was in the area. The restaurant looks likes a rundown convenience store. The place is full of pictures, articles, and other material all over the place. It gives the appearance of being very disorganized and scattered. This place is low quality. I picked up a gyros and fries combination. The gyros were dry, flavorless, and looked stale. It was like they had been sitting on the rotisserie all day. Or maybe they use a wrong cut of meat or a cheap cut of meat. Either way the gyros were terrible. The fries tasted better, but they were too oily. Each bite was a taste of crispy potato, and hot oil. I didn’t like that they hadn’t even strained the fries of their oil. I think I will not be coming back here again.

Pros: +Hours +Staff Cons: –Food Quality –Facility Ordered Butter Chicken from here due to a late night craving and nothing else being open. The pricing is all over the place, online is different from the pricing wall, different from the register. The food tasted very strange, like they poured a pound of Garam Masala in a gallon of tomato sauce, and the chicken reheated. They gave me extra rice for free I guess that’s a bonus. The Samosa’s are the kind that come in little bags from the frozen section, they also sell frozen food and canned groceries. The staff needs to stop watching tv and pay attention to the state of the restaurant.

Food is barely edible.(I thew most of mine away). Delivery drivers cool. Food tastes as though it were made by a 5 year old.

Went in to try the Indian food. It’s very affordable that is ideal for students like me. However the Indian food was average. There seemed to be a perennial pickle taste in it. I’m a vegetarian and so I don’t really know about the gyros that everybody seems to be talking about but the Indian food is strictly average if not below average.

pass by here a lot. the sign says” best philly stop” with tons of flashy lights at night. i wanted a philly cheese steak one day while driving pass here… so i came in to give it a try. it was a little little store with cashier near the back. i ordered the philly cheese steak and chicken briyani. philly cheese steak– i didnt like it. there was very little meat and cheese in there. and it tasted really salty. chicken briyani– it wasnt bad. i think they use the wrong kind of rice for this tho? normally at order places they use long rice and over here they use regular rice. they dont have the best philly… the restaurant name lied to me =(

ordered for delivery over the phone, food took over an hour to arrive. Can’t remember the last time I was this sick for this long after a meal. If you value your intestines, think twice.

I came in on Easter Sunday and didn’t know what to expect but saw in the back to order food. The owner was there and suggested a chicken gyros for me to be on the healthy side and my husband had the chicken cheese steak. Both were hearty sandwiches served with cajun style fries and a pop for only $ 7.99. While we were eating he was preparing Pineapple Chicken Fried rice for a catering dinner for his family and I got to taste! It was very good, with chick peas, pineapple, chunks of chicken and hint of curry in the rice. I will definitely come back and order the less traditional more Asian type dishes to try.

A friend recommended Best Philly Stop/Taylor Food Mart & Restaurant as a late night option for the best fries after midnight. I ended up ordering the chana masala which was great. Roti was good as well. Chana was spiced just right. Place has alot of potential. Reasonable prices and huge portions. Will be trying more of the Indo/Pak menu selections. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Btw, the masala chai was delicious. I will be going back.

I think the new official name is Best Philly Stop. At least that’s what is on the new menus. Still not everything on the new menus and the Taylor halal food student special are not available everyday. Might be better to just ask what they have. Our first visit with the new menu, we got four veggie samosas(4 for $ 2), a chicken boti and chicken seekh kabab roll(2 rolls/$ 5), and a chicken biryani for $ 5. The rolls are like large tacos in size and form. Lettuce and tomatoes as the veggie accents probably aren’t ideal but they’ll do to meet cost. Tasty and the chicken wasn’t dry — onions and spices add the taste. Getting two for $ 5…you could share with someone and order other things to finish out your lunch. Otherwise the two are plenty for most appetites. They are flexible to mix and match… at least the day we were there. May differ when things get busier and the fall semester starts again at this UIC neighborhood business. I’d say stop in and give their rolls a try — you can also get a beef boti as well as vegi kabob roll but I haven’t tried them yet.

the actual sign says philly stop, just incase you’re looking. the place is bare bones empty with a grill in the back. late night philly was pretty good and the cook added some indian spicing for a little kick. it did give me heartburn later, but i think that was the greasiness. apparently you can also get indian food, although it isn’t really advertised on the signs. love, juston
